We have rented one of Gary and Trinette's boats every year. We also rented from Kevin, another of their family members who had boats out in Hope. This family has always taken care of us and our guests. We rent the pontoon boats and they are always clean, filled up, and everything in working order. We had an outstanding time renting a boat from Sandpoint water sports! We rented a pontoon for the entire day and Gary and his crew were nothing short of spectacular. We have rented boats in other areas, and you can tell this team goes the extra mile to make sure things are comfortable. The boat was clean, new, and had a cover, which was great for the heat and had amazing storage. They have really close parking and tons of it for free. No stress. In addition, they also have wheel barrows to help get all of your gear into the boat really quickly. Gary and his team made sure we knew all of the features of the boat prior to departing. Bluetooth, air pump for floaties, enough life jackets for everyone and additional for water sports at no additional charge. We boated all day long and didn't have to worry about filling up, we were able to take it back at the end of the day, pass it off and head out within minutes of docking the boat. I would choose this place hands down every time. The 5 minute additional drive is worth it with all of the ease that comes from renting from here! read more

Our Family had two boats reserved. With some changes in family members availability, we had fewer people coming and had received a text from the company that one boat was out of service. We contacted the company via text asking for the policy on canceling one boat, not stating we would but asking about refund of deposits , for us to make a decision. With the previous message that one of the boats reserved was having mechanical issues and did not know if they would get it fixed in time, thus part of the reason as well for the questions. The response provided on the deposit inquiry informed us they rented out the one boat for the afternoon to someone else, despite our deposit for a full day and that it was fixed. We decided to talk to them in person. Upon arriving and trying to talk things out face to face as we felt there was a disconnect in texting. Gary, was very defensive from the start of the talk and raising his voice. He would not listen to the customers side and informed us we could only have one boat and is charging us $400 for the other boat, that he rented to other people. He kept raising his voice, and a woman came out from the office stating they do not allow conflict and this needs to stop, please understand, we were not raising voices, our family members that handled the reservation, were calmly trying to work through the disconnect. Gary then threatened to not rent us a boat at all and was going to keep money paid. He was very defensive, which is a telling sign. So much so, he verbally assaulted one family member accusing them of being mean, when they had not said more then a few words. It was very out of line. We finally boarded the one boat, and started to leave and discovered the boats steering was backwards and whomever is reading this.....if you have not guessed all ready..... we were given the broken boat that was not fixed. When we got back to the dock, Gary was all the sudden very nice and the female came down, Im assuming his wife, very apologetic, BUT neither appeared surprised, this was clearly intentional. All the sudden a full refund was available and the wife admits the other boat was rented for the entire day, yes, the boat that we had made a deposit that they had originally refused to refund. This experience was terrible. And to top it off, my spouse knows how to work on boats and the issue was a 20 min fix but they told us it could not be fixed and to bad so sad, you have no boat to spend the day. Wow. If you are looking to rent a boat anywhere on Lake Pend Oreille, rent from Sandpoint Watersports! Gary and his wife were absolutely wonderful - so kind, helpful, and appreciative of each renter they were working with. We brought a lifejacket for our 1 year old but he hates it so they offered a couple other different options for him to try. Helped us get our stuff down to the boat, gave great instructions and tips for where to go on the lake. The boat itself was beautiful - clean, in awesome shape, and had the power my husband appreciates. We only had time for a half-day rental but they were some of the best 4 hours we've spent here in Sandpoint. We will absolutely be using them again and hope everyone else looking for a rental will head their way too. Their product, service, and pricing deserve to be supported!
