We arrived here this Friday. Our room had a bad odor coming from the jacuzzi, we reported the problem the first 3 nights and odor Keeps getting stronger. Our room is 9343 and just today I had to go personally to the lobby and had a recent room change and once we arrived to our new room we had poor AC, room was hot, we had no remote control for the television and fridge not working. We reported the problem to lobby and spoke to a supervisor and no solution to our problem. We will never come back to this hotel again. Upper management is no help. I hope I get to speak to the Business owner ASAP regarding our terrible experience at this hotel. Please stay away from this hotel. The customer service from restaurants, to bar personal are very nice and attentive but our rooms rate F. I have a family and wanted the best experience however we are not having a good experience with our rooms. Never again I'm coming back. Very dissatisfied. We got 1 more night and unfortunately we won't be able to find a hotel for one more night. read more

My family and I really enjoyed this resort. At first we were worried because our room was so far from the beach but after one day we realized this is the best thing about the hotel. There is a trolly cart you can ride to any part of the resort or better yet walk. The grounds are stunning. Flowers, plants, succulents and wildlife everywhere. Flowers literally dropping from the treetops all around you. Clean rooms. AMAZING Italian restaurant!! Fun chipotle burrito style bar, crepe bar and Starbucks like coffeehouse. Fun and entertaining shows every night. Great kids and adult beach activities. The staff gets to know you, your drink and your family. My husband, kids ages 10,12&15 as well as my 18 year old niece and 70 year old dad had the time of theirs lives. We will be back. read more

Everybody in this place is nice and helpful, yes there are nicer places where you can stay, but for the price is great. Service everywhere is great and the food is not bad all inclusive packages are really all inclusive. I have been in places where only certain drinks are included. Overall experience was OKAY. We booked our trip last minute and this was one of the only options left for the days we were staying. Staff: A+ they were amazing! Super friendly and always willing to accommodate. My fiancé lost his wallet at a taxi when we went to 5th Ave and a kind valet service man gave us to pay the taxi cab that brought us back. Super sweet and friendly people. Room: B the room had a nice view and they even have a bathtub! It was cozy. They have complimentary beers and they restock in your room. Wifi: B+ they have okay wifi service depending on where you are. Food&Drinks: D- I'm usually not a very picky eater but gosh it was something else! They didn't really have any taste. I'm Mexican but not even the Mexican food was good...the drinks had some taste but barely any alcohol in them! You had to tell them to put more and even then they didn't taste all good. Location&Transportation: D the location was not good! We got the adult section and were told that the beach was about 5min walk...ummm no! It took us like 15-20mins. They have shuttle services but you have to wait a long time and they don't have enough shuttles coming in and out especially at night. The adult section pool is so much cleaner the others seemed a bit dirty. Also, the hotel is a bit away from the main part of the city. You have to take a taxi cab to go out of the hotel or ride a bike that they have for their guests. WARNING be careful with the taxi cabs around here. Some will try to rip you off! We had an incident when we rode to 5th ave and my fiancé forgot his wallet with both of our money and identifications in them at the taxi. We got a taxi cab to drop us back to the hotel and it took forever to contact the taxi bc the valet from the hotel forgot to write it down. The taxi that dropped us off at the hotel was charging us up the a** for waiting on us to get cash bc the "time was still running" dude! You were just parked the entire time eating a snow-cone when you offered to bring us back! Then, they finally contacted us the taxi that had his wallet and when he got there he told us he was charging us to bring his wallet back. Are you fkin kidding me?! Anyway, that had nothing to do with the hotel but just helpful tip, if you are planning on going into the city I recommend getting a bike from the hotel or renting a car bc it is a bit far. My husband and I were married at Sandos Playacar on June 9th. We had 39 guests - 26 adults and 13 children. First, the wedding night and the wedding planners were great. The set up is lovely - although the way the blankets are draped obstructs photos slightly. We did the turquoise breeze package and added on an extra hour to the reception and a slideshow. Very happy with both. The wedding planners are response to emails regarding planning leading up to the big day. Due to the heat, we choose to move the reception inside and keep the cocktail hour outside. Very happy with both decisions. Despite the sad picture the wedding planners sent of the inside venue, it really was lovely once the white linen table cloths were added. A bummer for me is that the wedding food had to be buffet. Luckily the buffet wedding food was better than the Main buffet food. The wedding cake was good. Didn't have a chance to try any of the apps during the cocktail though and didn't get any feedback - good or bad. The service during the reception was great - bartenders and waiters did a great job. The deejay had very professional equipment. His song selection needed help though (Michael Bolton during the cocktail hour) but he was very open to our playlists and finding requests on YouTube. A nice aspect of the resort is that it is at the end of the strip. Makes the ceremony more private although people from the beach will still look on. The spa services were very good. The massages included in the wedding package was very good. They also did a great job with hair. The makeup was heavy but that is just my taste. I chose to finish the makeup myself. A disappointing aspect of the resort is that there are many tiers. Not all members of our group had gold access - so they couldn't go to the premium bars or adults only pool. The premium drinks are substantially better. At one point I ordered my brother in law a premium margarita which the bartender made but once he saw that he only had a blue wristband, he took it away. Pool service is slow. Long waits for drinks, and running out of cups was a consistent problem in the afternoon. As was running out of towels. Not a lot of waiter service either, especially compared to other Mexican resorts I've gone too. The regular buffet food was mediocre. The ala carter restaurants were much better. They are worth the wait in the evening. The chitaya place is great - all of our guests loved that. The rooms are nice. Cleaned daily and stay cool. The resort is very large so guests will be spread apart. An issue we had with the wedding planner was a miscommunication about a pre wedding event. We were originally told that we could have it at the Italian buffet. So we told all of our guests that weeks in advance. Then when we arrived they had moved it to the main buffet. Very hard to notify everyone at the last minute of the change. I had expected it to be private to semi private but it wasn't. I was then told that they would at least stop seating the area our group was in. They didn't. I would have paid extra to have had a private dinner not at the buffet had the circumstances been clearly explained to me. We had to cancel speeches and planned games as a result of the lack of privacy. My sister had a real problem with her keys stopping working. Management was unresponsive to the problem and it kept occurring. added an additional half hour to getting back in their room 5 different times. Finally, a real damper on the whole trip is that about 30 of our 40 guests got sick either vomiting or diarrhea. It lasted about 24 hours and started on Saturday, June 11th and slowly went through the group. At least it was at the end of the trip. read more

I give this place one star for the employees that try to do their best with what they have to work with which unfortunately is not much and the BEAUTIFUL beach. This place is dirty and no one cares! Our room wasn't ready and they tried to sign us up for a membership after traveling for 12 hours with 2 kids. Come on!!! If you have half a brain this is the last thing your guest is thinking about. I want to take a shower, put on clean clothes and feed my kids. Thank you to our concierge who could see how tired we were and had half a brain. This being the first all inclusive I've been to, so I really have nothing to compare it to, but if this is how they treat you... it will be my last. To list just a few things, the rooms are dirty (walls, counters, bathroom), no dresser to put your clothes aways, the food has no flavor, and everything is watered down. I will be back later to write more and to post pictures since I'm still on my vacation. I just don't want anyone to look for a review and get treated like we have. The girl who checked us kept helping helping other people, guests and staff, who would just walk up to the counter for something. Took way too long and never an apology. She would literally be handling our process and walk away without saying anything when she left or when she returned. No welcome drink, everyone else had one. We were told a bartender would be around. Didn't happen. Buffet is so bad we left. Twice. The food in the Asian restaurant is literally not edible. The French and Italian restaurants were good. The food is the same in all buffets and everywhere is the same for breakfast, even if you go to a restaurant instead of the buffet. Gets repetitive. For lunch they grill hamburgers and hotdogs different spots around the resort. I can have hamburgers or hotdogs any day at home, why would I want that daily for lunch on vacation? Every day. Same. Thing. Very tiring for a week long stay! You could not find a taco or a tortilla anywhere! Tortilla chips were very hard to fine, often just regular Lays potato chips. In our room the first night: Lipstick on drinking glasses in the room When I pulled the sheets back to go to sleep they were dirty!!! I slept on top of the bed with the extra blanket that was in the closet. Ants all over the sink and counter. They had to come and fumigate. Beds are crazy hard and uncomfortable They brought a "cushion" the next day but it did not help and it made you really hot while sleeping. They state there are shuttles to take you around the property. We were only able to get in one once. They take forever to show up and by the time they get to you they are full. The property is so big that you need a shuttle! Promised bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries 11/18 - came 11/20 and it was champagne. We don't drink it but regardless it was the same stuff they have at the bar so nothing special. Workers (people working the front desk, restaurant servers and bartenders) seem very unhappy. They don't smile and most are just downright rude. Extremely disappointing to see. Margarita at Italian and Alex at the gate are really great. The grounds workers were also friendly. It rains often and they do not wipe down chairs in entertainment area after a rain, nor are towels available for you to do it yourself. That seems crazy when there's nightly entertainment! And then you can't sit at the table area because everything is wet. The adult section is super super lame. No one hangs out at the swim-up bar which is something that was important to me. I have stayed at other resorts where the swim-up bar is really fun and they will have Mexican bingo and others games. One day they had a dance competition for a drink in a pineapple. It was really distasteful. Not a fun dance, a distasteful dance. November awesome weather!!! Ocean water was warmer than the pool water. We stayed in a hacienda which I strongly recommended. The adult section is really far from the beach and the regular section would be too noisy during the afternoon and evening during entertainment times. The haciendas are in the middle and private. Each one has eight units and a private small pool and hot tub. If you want someone to wait on you this is NOT the place for you. Only asked once, while sitting on the beach or at the pool, during the entire week stay, if we wanted a drink. We ordered and it was never right back to us. You have to get everything yourself and it's not close. Beautiful beach with soft, cool, clean sand. The ocean is great. A bit choppy but when calm you can see in the water. The ocean water felt warmer than the pool water! Tons of lounge chairs on the beach. The beach is windy so be sure to have sunscreen chapstick. Property is gorgeous. There are beautiful walking paths, the grounds are well-maintained. And we always felt safe, even in the dark. read more

We went for a site visit for an upcoming wedding and the service was terrible. After reconfirming two times they still were disorganized when we visited. There was no level of customer service, communication or organization. If they can't get a site visit correct then I surely would not trust them planning my wedding! FOOD AND SAFETY FIRST - WRONG SICK- first day there my husband got food poisoning, French restaurant. We only ate at the resort. He was in bed for three days with violent pain and diarrhea. The following two days was barely able to eat. I guess this is how the save on all inclusive. We had to cancel excursions and lost money. We're home and he still is not right. Most awful experience. Reported problem to staff, i got a blank stare, reported it again next day and apparently they were going to tell chef. Waiting for a cart we saw a worker bring uncovered rolls to buffet, he hits a bump and rolls go tumbling out on the ground. He proceeds to pick them up and place them back in with the good ones.. Omg seriously this is why people get sick. Our neighbors that checked in after us got sick as well. SAFETY - a drunk guest was pounding and screaming on doors at 4am, he broke in a door that was not his...he assaulted the guest who was asking him to stop and that he was scaring the kids, and he had wrong room. security was called and stood by as the guest was getting attacked by the drunk so another guest jumped in and finally took the guy down. The police finally showed up 45 min later and arrested the man and told the other two men It was there problem they got assaulted. You would think that the resort would be worried about the other guest, nope they never even spoke to them. They were more concerned about taking pictures of the damage to the rooms and charging the drunk guest girlfriend. There was no protection for the guest from resort or police. Scary... It appears from other reviews this is a good resort but after this week I feel that there is a huge problem with lack of responsibility here and I would defiantly have concerns in taking my family here for the above reasons. Great resort. Definitely coming again. Don't sign up for any of the membership vacation packages that they offer. I don't believe it's worth the money because of the way the deal is structured. It goes something like this, if you purchase a 30 week plan for X amount of money, then that's all you will have is the 30 week plan to stretch out for as long as you want. I believe they give you 30 years to use up the 30 weeks. I just don't believe it's worth the money. Other wise the resort and food and liquor is all covered since we did the all inclusive package. We were here for 4 days and were extremely disappointed. When we checked in it was a 10min walk to our room. We asked for a ride and they told us to go to a pickup spot. We waited for 10min and started walking and no cart ever went by. At 2 different times each of our bracelets stopped working and were lock out of the room. The buffet has no labels on the food and wasn't good. Asked for a late and never got it. The next day asked for a water and never got it. There is 1 bar on the beach with long lines because they only have 1 bartender. The food at the beach was worse than a high school cafeteria. The hotel lost power during our stay for 4hr one day and flickered on and off the next. We were there for a wedding and the staff was staining the dance floor as we were walking in to find our place cards, so the strong smell gave many of us headaches. The next day it smelled of sewer at the beach and as we walked to dinner that night. I forgot my new dress hanging in the closet with the tags still on it and when I called the next day they said they "didn't find it". Unreal! don't waste your money. read more

My family and I stayed at this Resort during the summer months a few years ago. The accommodations were excellent in that our staying rooms were Top Notch quality. The customer service was top-notch quality as well. The ocean was a perfect 10. We arrived on a rainy thursday evening. When we got our room in the adult section, we noticed that the showerhead in the bathroom was fixed on the wall on a height of 1,60 meters. This was a problem for us because my boyfriend is 1,90 metres. Because the shower area also very big was, we fond out that we got a room which was for people in wheelchairs! So we went to the reception to ask for another room. The receptionist laught a little with our problem and we had to come back the next day because there weren't rooms available he said. We explored the resort in the evening and very early in the morning. We noticed that al lot of rooms were empty. We saw that because the lights were on in those empty rooms (sustainable my ass). We are both smokers, but you are only allowed to smoke on the side of every venue such as the pool area, outside sitting areas,... We didn't feel welcome at all. On that rainy evening was no entertainement on the resort. There is a big outdoor area with the finest sound en light equipment but there was nothing to do. So we went to the theater but this was also empty and it looked like it didn't was used this year. The buffet restaurants, the biggest one and the one in the adult section, weren't cosy and good at all. If you have to stay here 14 days, you will eat the same f.or 14 days This holiday is our third vacation in a row to Mexico. We stayed both times in a Riu hotel where we both times had a great vacation. We had both a bad night sleep in Sandos because it was not what we had expected. So we checked out the next day and we spent the rest of our holiday in Riu Tequila where we feel welcome, has a great atmosphere, good buffet restaurant, smoke outside, and so on. No more Sandos for us. read more

My wife and I had previously traveled to the Riviera Maya and we had never had such a fantastic stay as this one. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a very nice man (I believe his name was Idris) who offered us welcome cocktails and proceeded to escort us to the reception. Since we arrived early our room wasn't ready yet so we just changed into our bathing suits, left our luggage with the bellboys and took off to the beach. When we got there, the water was crystal clear, and the entertainment staff were organizing a volleyball match for all guests who wanted to join (my wife did). The nearest bar to the beach was pretty quick, so I had plenty of time to relax and sip my cocktail. By 2:30 PM we decided we had already had too much sun so we headed back to the lobby and to our surprise, the room was ready! We booked a junior suite and despite being on the opposite side of the beach, it was a really nice 7-8 minute walk. That day we decided to have dinner at the buffet as it seemed as the easiest option and we were already tired. The next day we were on our way to have breakfast and a very nice lady approached us by asking if we had already received our welcome package, and proceeded to explain how the resort worked. She then asked us if we would like to attend the royal elite sales presentation so we could have a better view of all the accommodations and facilities. So far, our check in had gone pretty smooth and our stay had been really nice, and since the presentation included breakfast, we decided to go for it. Our sales rep proceeded to show us everything we could possibly get to know in the hotel which was of major help, because the resort is huge. When we booked this trip, we didn't have in mind to buy any additional vacation packages or anything similar to it, however, they offered us this really great membership package, with a huge benefit list. Since my wife and I had been enjoying the resort so much (as I previously mentioned, no other stay in the Riviera can compare to this one) we decided to purchase it. In the end, we did receive our welcome package and they also offered their assistance during our stay with any questions in regards to our new membership. We decided to go ahead and try it out -the result was awesome! We had access to a Members Only pool (make sure you ask for David!), premium drinks, and we even had a champagne bottle and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room! The rest of the days we decided to try out the a la carte restaurants, apparently as a member you have the right to make reservations for the restaurants, so that helped us organize our days a whole lot better. In the end, all I can say is that we will definitely be coming back to sandos as royal elite members; we already booked our vacations for next year and cannot wait to finally get there! read more

This is a great resort and although not everything was perfect, it is a solid 5 out of 5 for the price. I stayed at Sandos Caracol many years ago and we decided to organize our wedding at Playacar because of their beautiful beach. We had over 85 guests staying over and everyone had a great time and we received a lot of complements for the hotel, their food, drinks, and staff. All of the staff were incredibly accommodating and happy to help. Again, there are things that could be improved upon like the gym (needs more equipment and an upgrade) and the check-in process was a little slow, but we looked at several other resorts and you cannot beat the price - many of them were two or three times more expensive. This is the best bang for your buck! The wedding was wonderful as well. We would like to personally thank Ruth Quirarte, our wedding planner, as she did an amazing job and went above and beyond to make us happy. The rest of the staff was wonderful as well. My friend barely touched a light pole, and it fell over. Some employees saw the light pole on the ground and thought we did it on purpose. Next morning we were charged $120. They wouldn't allow us to tell them what happened. Tried to contact them after we had left to explain. No response. There are so many better hotels! Skip this hotel and enjoy your time in Mexico! Worst experience I have ever had anywhere... stay anywhere but here! The food and alcohol included with the stay are awful, bottom shelf liquor with brands you've never heard of in plastic bottles, despite us paying more for top shelf access. We've been disturbed every time we've tried to sleep whether from a phone call from front desk or housekeeping despite the do not disturb sign. Do not go here if you have the option!! It's cheap but the place is horrible. The restaurants have close to no ventilation, which is excruciating in such a horrible heat. All the food was absolutely horrible. Especially Asiana!!! Do not eat here!! My boyfriend got sick for the entire week from the fish he had there on the first night. The only places that were not so bad was chayitas, a chipotle style place and the place right next door which is a cupcake and coffee shop. The only thing I can actually say I liked about the resort was that there was many cats everywhere and the donkeys come up to you so that you can pet them. The room looked okay at first glance but the door won't close properly in the bathroom so it's constantly open, the bathtub had a disgusting yellow liquid fall out whenever I tried to use the water. The shower door had mold on the bottom. Whenever we opened the balcony doors bugs would come in, there was bugs everywhere and lots of bees. The beach was packed there was never any towels. Honestly we were there for a week but we couldn't wait to get home as fast as possible. The most fun we had was leaving to go to the mall so that we could pretend we were still in Miami. Consider a different resort or you will regret it!!! read more

This is probably my favorite resort and spa, they have excellent friendly service, and lots to offer guests. I was pleasantly surprised when at every restaurant they could accommodate my special no gluten and no dairy diet, sometimes the chef even brought me out my specially cooked meal. I felt like a superstar, instead of a burden with all my allergies. Yesterday my husband and I tried the spa massage and facial treatment and the therapists, Sonya and Beatrice were excellent. Better than any I have had in Ottawa. The young gentlemen at the Service Center ensured my Wifi service was running smoothly, when I initially encountered Wifi issues. There have been many changes at the hotel since we were here two years ago, all are positive. We have traveled our fair share and we totally recommend Sandos Beach Resort. The endless beach, the friendly service, and the choice of good food makes it all very good value for your money. read more

I'm currently staying at the Sandos plant car in Playa Del Carmen. I'm writing this review due to the fact of my complete frustration with the lack of activities, proper music at the pool, and the condition of the room and overall displeasure. I've stayed at this location before when it was the adult section in the back. They've moved the adult section to the front by the beach but the rooms are old and dingy. They zoned off a pool for the adult guests which play spa music all day. I'm with a group of 18 people in this is going to be bad. I don't normally complain about a location since I've been to Mexico over 11 times. I've stayed in the playa car resort area many times without issue. I've stayed at the Riu Yucatán As well as the Riu tequila. Both hotels have their pros and cons but they were always able to staff the bar areas as well as pool areas in activities properly. I literally went to the activity coordinator near the pool at the adult section and asked if they could possibly change the music from Spotify music something a little bit more upbeat so all of us at the pool could stay awake. When I got back from the lead man who is the boss of this area, "I just started five days ago and I'm working on it." I found this to be an unacceptable answer to my request. I'm spending a lot of money as well as the other 17 people that are with my group. It seems to me they can deviate from the spa music once in a while and also have some activities by the pool. This is absolutely horrible. It does change my opinion of this location. I love this location last time we stayed here but this is absolutely change my mind about coming back again. As a sidenote, I went to the front desk where the girl checked us in for the adult section which is a premium area in the lobby, and I explain the situation with my room being dingy, lack of storage etc. All she did was look at me and say I agree but that was all she will do. My recommendation is if you're looking for adult active location, skip this location. Go to Riu Which is right next-door some other location. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Sandos! It was our second time traveling to Quintana Roo. This time we had a family oriented trip planned. The resort is awesome for families. There's lots to do for the kids and adults. The food was very tasty and the varieties were great. The service is beyond what you would expect at an all inclusive and they don't hide the premium liquor from you. The VIP bars carry them and they are quite generous with them. It is very safe for the children to roam this resort as it is easy to navigate through and all main areas are at close proximity to each other. So your kids can be in the arcade while your in the main plaza listening to the bands play or watching the shows. The hacienda rooms are very private, spacious, and beautiful. Not to mention haciendas have private pool and hot tub that you only share with others who stay in your building (6 rooms). They have several public pools which are all near food and bars. I recommend this to any family looking to enjoy a resort in Playa del Carmen. It's very close to town where you can shop and dine. read more

We came here for our honeymoon and it was our first time in Mexico. The hotel was great! Very clean hotel with many dining options. The best thing was that we didn't need to make reservations days before at the restaurants we wanted to try. I have been told that most hotels require you to book reservations for dinner days in advance. This was not the case. We stayed in the adult section of the hotel which had an awesome swim up bar that played all the current dance music. The best part was every afternoon, cooks would set up a grill poolside and cook arrachera and burgers which were delicious! The hotel has their own private beach which was always very clean and we felt safe as there was always a guard on watch even late at night when we would go to look at the stars. It's almost pitch black, so it's nice to know they have security watching the property at all times. The hotel put on these great concerts each night, one of which was Michael Jackson. Amazing show! I felt as though we were actually watching Michael Jackson perform. Lights, costume changes, backup dancers, the works. Location was also perfect. We were a 5 minute cab ride away from playa deal Carmen where you can shop and dine. We also were able to take a ferry to Cozumel for the day. We stayed for two nights they gave us three rooms in The 2100. There was an oder Of sewer. Called front desk and they said they would look into it. Checked out and smell was still there. There was a lot of mosquitos in our room I asked housekeeping if they could spay so we would not be bitten and when I come back mosquitos where still there along with a can of off. Our room from lobby was a 10 minute walk. First night there was only one tram. Front desk personnel are rude. I personally will not stay or recommend this hotel. My husband & I where there two weeks ago & the hotel package we payed for was the Honeymoon sweet package which included beachfront rooms, California king bed & jacuzzi tub. Well when we arrived to our room their was no beachfront room it was a room looking out the lawn chairs & cabanas. So I called reception office that night & told them we were in the wrong room because their was no jacuzzi tub. So they said well tomorrow afternoon we'll move you to a different room, a lot nicer with jacuzzi & bigger TV. Then next day my husband I are dinning at the Brazilian restaurant & my poor husband got food poisoning there & had to go get medication. Whatever you do don't drink the water other then bottled water & food tasted weird to me & I am Hispanic. I loved the Xcaret adventure & the night show is the best!!!! And Xhel-ha adventure is tons of fun too, you go snorkeling or in a inner-tube its amazing, we also did a Sea-Trek adventure where you go underwater & see big turtles, stingrays, Dolphins, fish it was my first time & felt like a total different world. These adventures are pricey$$$ so be prepared. Then the last day my husband bought a small bottle of wine at the steak restaurant and paid for it there & signed a receipt for the wine where we had to include our room # too & left them $20dollars for wine plus tip. Then as we are checking out they receptionist says you have a charge for a bottle of wine & I politely say we payed that wine & left them $20 on table & even signed a receipt. Well 45 mins goes by & husband I are just waiting for them to clarify the wine issue & finally I say "I'm so tired of sitting here & waiting for you guys to find your receipts & by this time I'm talking to the main boss & saying is $20 really going to hurt your hotel!?! And finally restaurant finds the recipes & I say "if we miss our flight back home you'll be hearing from me!" I was so disappoint with their service & making us feel like thief's over something so petty like that. And I forgot to include all our excursions were over $600 we payed during this "check-out" time & for them to make us wait for 45 minutes while they looked for their recipes was so ridiculous! Meh. The beach here is beautiful, and the hotel is fine if you can get it at an affordable price. Just keep your expectations in the low to mid-range. Importantly, as prior reviewers have said, BEWARE the membership salesmen!!!!! They promised us free massages if we took the "tour"--three #*^%@&! hours later, most of which were spent trying to get these arm twisters to accept that we were really not going to give them $16k--it turned out we didn't even get real massages. Apparently, what they gave us was 50 minutes of tickling (no pressure). As no one wants that, the spa was standing by to up-sell us, asking $60 to turn our "free massages" into actual massages. Argh! In short, the membership tour is essentially a scam (false promises galore), and it left a really bad taste in my mouth about resort and the Sandos brand. Not to mention that I got the infamous Mexican stomach bug, suggesting that not all the water in the ice and drinks is treated, though they swore it was. read more

My family and I just got back from an 8 day stay at this resort. This is a huge resort so when we checked in they didn't really explain where we had to go, we walked around for like 15 minutes and we luckily found our room. I would give this resort a 5 star but the rooms need a lot of work! We found roaches in our room and the sink was falling apart. They food is pretty good for an all inclusive. They also have good entertainment every night. On our 3rd or 4th night we went to the Italian buffet and the host was extremely rude! We were a group of 23 and she sad that it was going to be to hot and when we asked her that if she had somewhere to seat us she just kept looking at us like she didn't want to help us. We ended up going to the restaurant right next door. One good thing they have is the mango margaritas, they're amazing! Well overall this resort needs improvement but it's a good place to relax. I would recommend it to someone that just wants to lay by the pool or the beach and relax. read more

Sandos was primarily a good experience. The beach is lovely and the pools are fun. The room is very nice. However, our room key broke on five occasions and the safe broke. They had to send 3 people to fix the safe. But, with the door, they made no attempt to fix it. This was highly inconvenient, because it required that we return to the lobby every time we could not get back into our room. About a third of the group has become very ill in recent days. It could be a flu or maybe they imbibed water somehow, but I suspect food poisoning. Finally, they changed the plans on my sister for the welcome dinner. They had promised a private room in an Italian restaurant and then switched it to the public buffet, where there was no privacy and worse food. read more
