James Futch Video

(1 review)

Although I found most of my wedding vendors via Yelp, I actually came across James Futch Video…read morethrough Wedding Wire. I am still surprised that he has not been reviewed on Yelp yet, but I am quickly changing that! My fiance (now hubs) thought I was crazy for wanting a videographer since we had already found a wonderful photographer, Bonnie J. Heath, to shoot our wedding. Sure, videographers are not cheap, but I knew that I wanted a wedding video to watch in the future - to reminisce on the big day and share with loved ones. | Positives | James is incredibly warm, genuine, and friendly. It was so easy to talk to him, and we "clicked" with him right away. We actually met one other videographer prior to meeting James, but watched some of James' wedding trailers on Vimeo prior to meeting with him and thought they were amazing. After discussing the wedding packages, which were very reasonable, we immediately knew we wanted to hire James after speaking with him. Later, we found out he was actually a preferred videographer for our wedding venue, the Defoor Centre, as well! After I had selected Centennial Olympic Park for our pre-wedding photo session, I asked James for some information about his equipment and other details to include in the park's Film and Video Permit Application. Instead of providing me the information, he volunteered to fill out and submit the form himself! This took a load off of my shoulders as I was busy with so many other things as I was planning the wedding, and I appreciated this gesture so much. The only thing he asked me was the contact information for our photographer so that he could gather some information from her. Another way James went above and beyond our expectations (and the wedding package!) was that he came to our wedding rehearsal - and even shot some video - at no additional charge. Again, he simply volunteered his time because he happened to be free that night and he just wanted to be prepared for the events which would occur on our wedding day. Awesome! On our big day, James arrived early to capture moments of me and my wedding party getting ready. It was stressful and hectic getting from our wedding venue to Centennial Olympic Park (for pre-wedding photos) and then back again, but he was extremely professional and polite the entire time. Just a little over a week after our wedding, James sent us a link to our 6-minute wedding video "trailer"! It was beautiful, and we were super excited in anticipation of our full wedding video. | Areas for Improvement | The estimated turnaround time given to us was 6 to 12 weeks from the wedding date. So when we had not received our wedding video (DVD and Blu-ray) by week 11, I sent James an email for an update as to when we could receive the video. Although I didn't get a reply back, we did receive the video the following week. We thought that James had captured all of the most important moments on our wedding day since he arrived early and stayed through the very end for our sparkler exit from the Defoor Centre and as we rode off in our getaway car. So imagine our complete shock when we did not see a very significant moment - when we first walked down the aisle as husband and wife - in the video. To make a long story short, James informed us that at that very moment when we were exiting, he dropped the camera he had been holding to shoot the ceremony. There was nothing he could do about it. He did have a camera on a tripod up on the stage, but it only showed our wedding party's backs as they walked out. We wished that James could have warned us ahead of time that this crucial moment was not captured in our wedding video. Obviously, there is no way to prevent accidents from happening - especially with a hand-held camera - but we did wish there had been a tripod set up as a back-up to capture the ceremony exit scene. Additionally, James did express his sincere apologies and provided us a flash drive with a digital copy of our wedding video and extra copies of the DVD to help alleviate our disappointment. Overall, James Futch Video gets 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 - primarily because we had such a great experience with James leading up to and on our wedding date. With the exception of the missing scene in our wedding video, we were pleased with James' work and professionalism. I would recommend James to friends and family - and fellow Yelpers, of course - to shoot for any special event! P.S. "The Walking Dead" fans - there is a cute and funny TWD-themed wedding save-the-date video currently up on James' website! Check it out! http://www.jamesfutch.com/

At first I was hesitant since had a very unique project that not every video company would have been able or willing to accommodate, but Crisp took on the project and delivered the on-point results that we were looking for! I want to thank Sky for my amazing photos and stop motion video of my wedding day. Not only is she…read moretalented, but she is also a very genuine and caring person. I sent Sky an e-mail shortly after my fiancé and I decided to get married in Las Vegas and she replied within 20 minutes. Within a few e-mails back and forth that evening I felt that I did not have to look for any other vendors. Prior to finding Sky, I had filled out a lot of contact forms with other photographers and I felt like none of them had actually read what I filled out. Their e-mail back to me would ask me things that I had already given information about. With Sky, she actually took the time out to read everything I wrote. She also asked questions about me and my fiancé. No one else had really done that before. This definitely set Sky apart from everyone else. I was first drawn to Sky's work because it is colorful and fun. I knew I wanted video because my fiancé and I were eloping and would not have anyone else joining us, but I did not want to have to find one vendor for photography and another for videography. The problem was that I never really cared for video, and I couldn't find any examples of work that was my style. Then I saw that Sky offers stop motion films. It was perfect. I loved how whimsical Sky's stop motion videos are. I love that she makes the wedding rings and shoes dance across the screen. I had finally found a video style that felt like me. I had only been to Las Vegas once about 7 years ago and my fiancé had never been. I had asked Sky for recommendations on where I could take photos. She recommended the Neon Boneyard Museum and I am so glad that she did. I feel those photos she took are so unique. I also told Sky that I was in love with colored smoke bombs and she helped us find that perfect backdrop. This is one of my favorite scenes in the stop motion video. The package that I had picked included an engagement photoshoot. I really didn't think I had time for one since it wasn't in our budget to fly out to Vegas in the months before our wedding date. Sky had insisted that we schedule the shoot and made time in her schedule for the night before my wedding. I am so grateful to Sky. She was in San Diego the morning of and had driven back to make sure that we had time for an engagement shoot and also that we made it to see our Cirque du Soleil show on time. Sky is super patient. I am so awkward in front of a camera! Sky would just talk to us and make me feel at ease. I am glad Sky insisted on the engagement shoot and I have a lot of really lovely photos. I am glad that I have a nice mixture of photos from our wedding trip. The day of the wedding Sky arrived to my room and was keeping track of time. I felt less awkward in front of the camera thanks for Sky and the engagement shoot the night before. Sky had so many creative ideas for the stop motion video. It was so fun and she was so patient in getting me out of my head. I have so many photos of our wedding day. Sky is very amazing and I am lucky to have been able to connect with her. My husband was so impressed with the amount of time that Sky spent with us. Everyone has been blown away by our stop motion video and our photos. Please do not hesitate to book with Sky. I don't take a lot of photos of myself because I am not comfortable in my own skin, but I love ALL of my photos from Sky. She spent a lot of time with us on our wedding day. We started the day around 7am and ended around 8pm. Not once did Sky complain. We were practically on our feet the whole day bouncing from location to location. She kept us on track and made sure that I had all the shots that I pinned from Pinterest recreated. I look forward to when I will be able to work with Sky again. You can find our photos under Tanya and Dave on Sky's blog. Thank you for everything Sky!
