First of all, everything sold here is organic and the majority of the items are products from their farm. The two women working at the store were extremely nice and informative as they led me through the store. The store is small and nicely organized. I purchased a cross section of items to so that I could build a solid opinion of them overall. Usually most places have some items that are hits and others that just simply are not. Well, I am glad to report everything that I purchased was outstanding! The next day at home, I fired up the grill and threw on their products for a taste test. The Norwegian salmon was much better than what I purchase at Wholefoods, Marianos, or Costco. The grass fed beef chuck eye steaks (this is a very underrated cut of steak) was simply full of delicious flavor and tender. Also, the in house made fresh Polish sausage was as good as some of the best Polish owned places back in Chicago, which says a lot. Correction, the sausage was leaner and full of flavor which interprets into healthier without sacrificing flavor. The one item that I did not get to taste that I purchased was the whole chicken which I can not wait to try. I am waiting for the cooler autumn weather to set in before I start roasting meat again. I highly recommend this place. If you care about where your meats or produce come from then this is your place. If you care about the effects of long term use of chemicals on farmlands have, then, this is your place. Is the meat your eating humanely raised? I have family out in California and out there places like this are common. But, here in the Midwest, I am sad to say, they are rare. I can't believe it took me this long to find this place. This loft-style suite thoughtfully overlooks the woods and offers a private entrance, deck, and modern comforts--coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, and a spacious walk-in shower with skylight Scott and Vicky were exceptional hosts--so warm and welcoming. I felt completely safe and well cared for during my entire stay. The grounds are stunning, with wildlife, a pool, and hot tub adding to the serene, peaceful setting The Denali Treehouse was not only private and cozy but also fully equipped for relaxation. Between soaking in the hot tub, lounging by the pool, and enjoying my own deck, it was the perfect escape. Thank you, Vicky and Scott, for an outstanding experience. I'll definitely be coming back!

When we politely brought it up to the owners, they were nice at first, but then became really rude & accusatory. They also refused to refund us so we left. I would NEVER stay at a B&B like this & highly recommend finding other arrangements in the area, because this place is AWFUL!

We had the place to ourselves and enjoyed fireside seating by the wood burning stove the staff had just got going. There is live music on the weekends and comedy shows starting in January. In fact, they have zero signs leading people into the neighborhood in which they sit, and the one sign the business does have off the nearest main drag is so small, you might mistake it for a political sign. Don't be fool though. This place is awesome. So awesome in fact that I have scheduled unnecessary trips from Cincinnati to NW Indiana JUST to go to this store. Chesterton Feed is a family-owned business, and several of the employees walking around the aisles are actually the children (or other relatives) of the business. The thing I love most about it is they are SO knowledgeable about so many garden-related things. I originally got hooked when I was trying to find a solution to the massive weed problem I had in my backyard. When I bought my house, there quite literally was no lawn, only weeds. I was hesitant to just spray the hell out of it if there was a healthier, more environmentally-friendly solution, and Chesterton Feed worked with me to find that solution. My grass looks incredible now, and they recommended the perfect seed mix that compliments the climate in my area while also combating any weeds that may try to return (yes, they have a wall devoted entirely to different types of grass seeds). This store's inventory goes beyond what you would typically find at a garden center. They've definitely got everything you'd expect: plants, pots, bird baths, grass seed, gardening equipment, etc. but they go beyond that. First of all, I will say their plants are so healthy. Everything I've purchased from them always does really well. They also have a massive stock of beautiful pots and bird baths, and the prices, while not cheap, are reasonable. They don't sell crap so if you spend a bit more, it'll last, and you won't be replacing anything a few years down the line. They also have everything you'd need to start a mini greenhouse or a fairy garden. They've got incredible decorative pieces for around the house or in the garden, neat statues, hammocks, and, if you're into more unique plants to keep around the house, I've always found some interesting potted plants sitting around. My next project is setting up a perfect area to attract birds to my yard, and this store has everything for that. In fact, the employees will spend a ton of time working with you on building the perfect little stand for your own backyard with various hooks for birdhouses or feeders or whatever the heck else you might want. I will not say that the store is cheap, because it is not, but this is truly a place you go if you're looking for quality products. They, however, often have fairly good sales and even throw events where you get free plants or supplies if you purchase a certain amount of stuff. If you're into gardening or if you have a burning question/problem that you'd like some assistance with, I HIGHLY recommend Chesterton Feed. You'll get quality service and advice while supporting local business at the same time.
