OVERVIEW: I booked the Squid Game VR experience for a family outing (we're local), and it was well worth it! Both the adults and kids had a ton of fun with the game, and we all definitely want to come back to try the other games! LOCATION: This Sandbox VR was located within the Miracle Mile by Planet Hollywood. We parked in the main garage, and it was a very short walk to find the actual business (head to the right from the garage entrance), which was fortunate because we didn't know where in the Miracle Mile shops it was. The storefront was super easy to find, and there was a Squid Game worker mannequin out front, so the vibes were already there. SERVICE: The employee was super welcoming and guided us through the waiver and sign in process, took our pictures for our game profiles, and gave us clear directions on where to go once we headed upstairs. Once upstairs we were met by another employee who gave us the rundown and helped us suit up. GAMEPLAY: Once we were suited up, the games got started. We have VR headsets at home so the immersion was familiar, but the sounds and the wind added to the feel as well. I won't spoil the games, but it was so fun! AFTERWARDS: Once we were done and took off the VR components, we headed back downstairs thinking we were done - but they showed us three videos that were highlight reels from our time, mixed between what we looked like IRL and from within the gameplay itself - so cool! The best part was that they send you an email that has the link to all the videos, so we got to share it with our friends and family. CONCLUSION: Definitely on the slightly pricier side at $60 a person, but well worth it for the experience and immersion! The game was fun, engaging, and not too scary (worst part were the 'drops' from falling, and definitely not as scary as some of the shooter/zombie games, but with an 11 year-old with us, we didn't want to go too scary. We went here for the Stranger Things VR experience. A few things, arrive early, make sure your entire is group is there, use the restroom beforehand, think of fun player name, mines was "Mindflayerbait" and also fun doing a pose for your photo! The host was friendly, informative and cool guy, no issues. Upstairs we got briefed for our mission and equipment usage. This is my 2nd VR experience. So I was hoping for it to be similar or enhanced. I saw there was about 4 rooms, fairly open, but the main thing was there wasn't anything blocking the sound from the other room. So you can hear screams and yells from the room, meh, not a fan of that. Mel, helped us get prepped about what to expect, super helpful. As we got calibrated, Mel was talking to use through the headset, you can hear the folks screaming in the background. The graphics were ok, I would compare to a PS3. They did make elements of realism like audio and wind elements. You could see below through goggles because there was a gap. We did the Catalyst game mode, where you have a a stick like controller, to use your telekinesis powers. Im surprised there wasn't a wrist strap, I wonder how many times people have toss it? The gameplay was pretty fun, you have various hand motions and gestures. You have to duck, dodge and strafe. So wear comfortable sneakers! The audio kept going in and out, which kinda ruined the experience. I'm saying, if I'm paying for $60 for about 30-40 mins, it better be a positive experience! At the end, you will get out of breath, so head over to the ABC store for a cool beverage. The plus side, was that you get to download your experience video for free! Also you get a 20% off your next experience. The one I went to was in a big corridor where we actually had to move around, dark, and you were an actually afraid to move around. So overall, would I come back? I guess so, because of that discount. read more

Was invited back to try again with a working vest, and it was a great experience! From the moment we walked in the girls working were super nice and helpful. We did the Stranger Things and it was great! Definitely had jump scares, but I was able to handle it and have alot of fun killing demigorgans and mind flayer! Really great visuals highly recommend!! A great experience from the last time! All the equipment worked (except their bathrooms so go before you go) and it was so much fun! We really-celebrated my friends birthday and she won! I wanted to write this review because there isn't much detailed information online about what to expect from this experience. This may be a little long, but TL;DR -- it's a great experience and absolutely worth trying if you're curious. As an adult, I did the Age of Dinosaurs experience. It's marketed as more kid-friendly, but I'm a huge dinosaur fan and still had a great time. At check-in you sign a waiver, choose an in-game avatar, and pick a team name. You're then taken upstairs to a large empty game room with fans and storage for personal items. Staff give you a haptic vest plus lightweight sensors worn on each wrist and ankle. The vest is highly adjustable and fits everyone from small children to large adults comfortably. Staff help if needed, but setup is simple. Next, they fit the VR headset and adjust it for comfort -- slightly tighter than expected so it doesn't slip. It feels similar to snug snorkel goggles. You also receive a headset with microphone so players can talk during the game. A safeword is provided that pauses the experience if you feel uncomfortable at any time. You're then given the game tool (a multitool camera/grabber in the dinosaur experience). Other games appear to use different equipment like guns. Once the game starts, you're fully immersed in a 360° world with depth, surround sound, and physical effects. The vest vibrates with impacts or large movements, and wall fans simulate wind. Players appear as avatars positioned according to their real-world location. A visible boundary box keeps you safely within the play area while still allowing room to walk around. I played with one other person, which felt ideal -- a full group of six might feel a bit cramped. The Age of Dinosaurs experience lasts about 45 minutes (others range roughly 30-60 minutes). Afterward, you receive a video compilation mixing gameplay footage with recordings of you playing, which is a fun bonus. If you struggle with motion sickness, vertigo, light sensitivity, fear of heights, or flashing lights, this experience could be uncomfortable. The Experience The story follows a mission through different dinosaur eras searching for a missing scientist. You travel via spacecraft/time machine through multiple environments filled with dinosaurs walking and flying around you. Gameplay mainly involves photographing dinosaurs and environments for points, though there are several interactive moments: * Peaceful environmental ride * Feeding stegosauruses * Visiting pterodactyl nests and witnessing eggs hatch * Fast chase sequence driving off attacking raptors * Feeding triceratops before escaping a volcanic eruption * Rescuing baby T-Rexes from lava * Juvenile T-Rex chase * Massive triceratops vs. T-Rex battle where you dodge tails during the fight Transitions are smooth, and educational narration explains dinosaurs and environments throughout. It's very kid-friendly -- nothing overly scary or violent -- but still extremely fun as an adult. The environments look great, and when you allow yourself to be immersed, it genuinely feels like being there. Minor Issues None of these ruined the experience, but worth mentioning: * My partner's avatar occasionally glitched into awkward poses. * Visuals were slightly blurry at long distances (possibly normal VR limitations). * Microphones cut in and out at times. * Vest vibrations were weaker than expected. Even with these issues, the technology itself was impressive. Final Thoughts My only gameplay critique is that much of the experience involves photographing what you're already seeing. Feeding the dinosaurs was easily the highlight, and I'd happily pay just to do more of that. I'd love to see future versions include more direct interaction. I still had a fantastic time. The experience earns 4 stars instead of 5 mainly due to price versus length and the minor technical issues mentioned. My friends and I did the squid game VR and it was SO much fun! I am someone who gets motion sick fairly easily and I was totally fine. The folks who run the place are very nice and have a good workflow. The instructions are really clear and you can easily ask for help and pause the game by raising your hand. I had a minor glitch but it was resolved super fast. The squid games package was a series of mini-games inspired by the show, but adapted so that you don't end up having to run across a whole field (which...you would just hit the wall). What I also loved was that they automatically create a set of videos for you that you can download immediately. This was basically the one time that I did not feel like I was being nickel and dimed in Vegas. It was my birthday and so I got a nice little "birthday surprise" at the end too! read more

This is a super is a super fun activity. I surprised my boyfriend with the descent experience and we had a ton of fun it is super immersive although I would like there to be more character options. There was only two girl characters one I believe based off of the main character from the movies in a second who was an alien. It was a really intense workout, but we had a ton of fun and I definitely wanna come back to try the squid games experience. They send the video really fast of you playing which I really appreciate it as well. read more

I am writing this review while we wait for our teens to finish. It was an affordable, fun time for our teenagers - a good way to celebrate my oldest birthday. They completed Deadwood Phobia. We had a group of 4 and they loved it (assuming so based on the happy shouts I am hearing from the lobby). Checking in was easy (Mel is the best). My family booked the squid game VR experience. In the game there is a falling mechanism so my daughter was worried the whole time. But they put her mind at ease when the instructor told her there was a comfort mode. This setting made it so that when you die instead of falling your screen will just go black and then you will respawn. Squid game seems to be this places most family friendly game, yet I still recommend that if you have a child that is afraid of heights, maybe talk to them before booking or book another ride. read more

It was a surreal and amazing experience. The people there are also very nice. Our group of 5 played the zombie shooting game and it was really fun. The only reason why I'm giving it 3 stars is because they give your group options for which weapons to use, but only up to 2 people can select the same type of gun. They have handguns, ARs. SMG's, shotguns etc, but they only let up to 2 people pick the same gun. There's absolutely no reason for this. If everyone in the group wants to use an AR, we should be able to. We are not competing against anyone or competing for money. Because I was not able to pick the weapon I wanted, it ruined my experience and fun a little bit. I was looking forward to using the gun I wanted and was not aware of the 2 people per gun rule. A really pointless and dumb policy they have. They should let paying customers use whatever we want to use. read more
