Both of our boys attended Sandbox for almost 3 years. When you finally find amazing care, it's hard to let go! They both love Piah and her daycare really feels like an extension of home. The small program is really intimate allowing each child to have lots of love and individual attention and makes transitioning to something outside of home so much easier. Piah curates adorable art projects, includes exposure to Spanish and French, music classes, cooking and cultural activities. She posts tons of photos to a private instagram page, so you can see what they are doing every day. The space is beautiful, immaculately clean, and filled with amazing wood toys. The boy's language, love of learning, and sense of self have grown exponentially while under Piah's care. Our boys have found such a beautiful community in those we have met here as well. Piah plans fun get togethers around LA and even child free nights out so parents can actually get to know each other. The friends both our boys and we have made have been such a wonderful part of daycare that we never expected. If you're looking for quality care, Piah's nursery is the perfect place for your family. My son has been here for nearly 2 years, since he was 18 months old. I was so anxious to send my child off to be taken care of but Piah and her team really reassured me. We took steps to ease him in by creating play dates in the lead up to his official start date. We picked him up every time he was really upset during the transition so that being at sandbox was a positive environment always. My son has a peanut allergy and they have taken the utmost care in making sure this was never an issue. Even going as far as asking us if something looked like peanut butter in the lunchbox that *we* packed, the attention to detail is unmatched. I wanted a place that would match my home setting, and her Reggio based daycare is exactly that. The space is cute and cozy with mainly all wooden toys. They do a lot of water play during the summer. And the space is always clean! My son even cleans up his toys at home, a routine that sandbox has taught him. They teach Spanish, French and English. He was able to count to 15 in Spanish at just over two years of age, and can sing French songs fluently. The dynamic curriculum really enabled him to flourish and we've noticed the biggest difference in his development since sending him here. We get updates by text but also through a private instagram where only caregivers are given permission to follow. Sandbox uploads photos daily to show what the kids are up to. She also hosts parent (kid free) nights where she provides food and drinks and enables the parents to connect and mingle. The community we gained through sending our son here has been priceless and so valuable since we don't have family in LA. They go above and beyond to create the most fun environment. Our family could not have dreamed of a more magical nursery for our little one and we can confidently say that there is no place like Sandbox! Piah and her team cultivate a warm and nurturing environment that truly becomes an extension of the home. The intimate size of the program allows for each child to be deeply known and loved, and for the children to form close bonds with one another. The laughter, tiny voiced conversations and unprompted hugs shared between the little ones are the sweetest sights and sounds to witness. The space is immaculately clean, open and airy with natural materials intentionally designed to foster creativity. Learning is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, encouraging collaborative play often incorporating visual arts such as painting and sculpting. Food and culture are also an integral part of the program, where children are able to try different fruits, vegetables, and prep ingredients for cooking and baking. Food is even beautifully integrated in the art they create! They learn and sing in English, Spanish and French languages. And are immersed in an eclectic array of music throughout their activities (including post-nap dance parties!), and Piah invites an amazing music teacher to expose the children to instruments ranging from guitars to African drums. Throughout the warm summer months, water play and sensory activities keep the little ones cool and highly engaged. Everything Piah programs is creative, curated and elevated. During our time at Sandbox, our son's whole being has exploded! His language development and social/emotional awareness never ceases to amaze us. We are floored when he can articulate the request for space when he needs it, or when he voluntarily helps a friend clean up enthusiastically saying "teamwork!" He has grown to be so open, confident and thoughtful. Our daughter has been at Sandbox nursery for over two years and every day, my husband and I pinch ourselves because we can't believe we are so lucky to have Piah and her amazing daycare in our lives. The environment Piah creates for the children is the perfect combination of creativity, exploration, learning, love and safety. Everything from the toys she selects to the crafts and games she thinks up for the children are unique, engaging and educational. On top of that, the space itself is set up beautifully, is always clean and is always calm which is something to say for a place filled with little people all day. It is all a testament to Piah's gift and experience in caring for and understanding children. We've seen our daughter grow in her time there and are amazed at the social/emotional skills that just naturally occur at Sandbox. I sometimes can't believe how lucky we are to have found Piah and Sandbox Nursery for our boys. She is the absolute best at what she does. She's created an environment that is warm, nurturing, stimulating, yet at the same time calm and peaceful. Everything she does is with such care, from planning fun and engaging activities every day with her amazing assistants, to preparing healthy and instagram-worthy snacks and lunches. I especially love the arts and crafts my boys have engaged in, and how she begins introducing them to letters and numbers during circle time. My two year old can count to 20 thanks to Piah and her assistants. Her place is also always immaculately clean -- I honestly don't know how she does it! My oldest son attended for 2+ years before heading to preschool and our youngest son is going there now -- they both have such fondness for "Piah's house". She's truly become like family for us. If you don't read this entire review, the TL;DR is that I'm a big fan of Sandbox Nursery. I recommend anyone who can find an opening there to take it! This place is such a gem, and you don't want to miss out. I researched a lot of daycares before I decided on Sandbox (which was recommended to me by a trusted friend), and none of the other options checked all the boxes Sandbox had. When I first started inquiring, one thing really stood out to me that I didn't see other schools do: they offered reference calls so I could hear from other Sandbox parents. I felt a lot of trust in that process, and it made me trust the daycare. To this day, they live up to everything I heard about them in the reference calls. I'm so glad my family chose this place. It feels like a second family and a second home. My child's development leaped after he joined this daycare. He has learned a lot about the world around him, playing with others, sharing, language and self-expression, following rules, sticking to routines, and more. He eats all his food while he's there even though he's a picky eater at home. Sandbox Nursery provides a great balance of creative, exploratory, stimulating, sensory, and free-play activities. The teachers have such tender love for the kids. I'm free of worry all day while my child is there because I know they're taking great care of him and keeping him safe, fed, and happy. And all the kids are always so joyful and exuberant when we come by for pick up, so I know they're just having a wonderful time. Located in a quiet, very safe neighborhood, the daycare has a great aesthetic. It has a nice yard with lots of shaded areas, a play kitchen, sandbox, deck with a mini climbing ramp, large water table that comes out during the summer. The place is impeccable. Everything is so clean, well-thought-out, and wooden. No screens anywhere, shoes off inside, a predictable schedule and routine. They have a good sick policy to avoid illnesses spreading. During the hotter days, the kids get to play outside with water, which they all really love. My child really enjoys the monthly music teacher, who is so delightful. There's an abundance of fun and creative activities the kids engage in, and my child looks forward to going every day. He talks about his teachers and friends when he doesn't see them. We love Piah and the entire team at Sandbox! Our son had a nanny who was amazing, but as he was turning 2 we knew he needed more socialization and to have some friends to play with. I was so nervous to make the switch but Piah made it easy, slowly getting our son used to coming to "school." Now he yells, "Bye Mama!" as he runs through the doors at Piah's, excited to start his day and play with his friends. A day at Sandbox is like a day at summer camp. When I show my friends or family pictures of what our son did at school that day, they can't believe it. He's always doing crafts or art projects, playing outdoors, eating delicious food, and learning through play. We also love that the toys are carefully curated to let his imagination run wild. And he has learned so much there. I'm amazed at how many songs he knows now and the new words he's always surprising us with. Overall we highly recommend Sandbox. Piah and her team, Gabby and Justine are absolutely amazing. I am so grateful to have found this gem and sanctuary that we get to call daycare. Sandbox has been the answer to our prayers. My son now attends 3x days a week, 8:30-5pm and he never wants to leave! I don't have to worry and know he is eating good organic lunches + snacks, getting ample time outdoors in a safe and exploratory sandbox/play area- AND a peaceful rest area for group naps. Piah plans special activities that tap into their creative, imaginative and physically active needs. Water, paint, collages, paper mache, yoga just a few. I love the limited number of students that she accepts at one time (12 max) and the personal attention she provides. Sandbox Nursery is an amazing daycare. We looked at 10 schools/daycares and Sandbox was by far our favorite. It's clean, organized, and kid-centered. It's clear that Piah and her team adore the children and are so thoughtful about the way their days are structured. Our son has been going there for just under a year and he absolutely loves it. He loves going to "school"; like, for real. Piah is very communicative, loving and thoughtful. The team provides a kid-centered environment for play-based learning and socializing. They balance warmth, fun, and learning with clear boundaries and strong communication with the kiddos. They're attentive and supportive of each child's individuality, quirks and strengths. I can not recommend Sandbox Nursery enough! We met Piah during the early days of quarantine when she nannied for our son, she was a life saver at the time. My son loves her and we're so happy that he's now able to attend sandbox and socialize with others. Piah and team are wonderful with the kids, they foster a fun, caring, and nurturing environment. We joined Sandbox Nursery last September when our twins were 2.5yo and we feel so lucky we did! We moved to LA due to a job relocation and was looking remotely for a daycare, luckily someone online recommended Sandbox, and only by seeing the photos I fall in love :) Piah was truly amazing from our first conversation, you could feel how professional she is, she did above and beyond to get to know our family before our move from NY. She scheduled with us multiple video calls to see the kids, play with them, and read books, she talked with us about what is important for us, our expectations, what the kids like and dislike. Eventually, when we moved to LA we and the kids felt they already know the place and Piah, that was amazing and we so appreciate it. Also, the transition into the daycare was very smooth and with respect to the kids, after a week we could feel very comfortable having them there for a full day. Sandbox Nursery is a beautiful place, everything there is built or bought thoughtfully. It's always so clean and organized, all the play areas and toys are in great condition quality. The kids are having so much fun and learning a lot, and we are grateful we found someone we can trust and help us raise our kids. The Sandbox team is wonderful and our daughter couldn't be happier. She adjusted in just days and loves the teachers and her "friends". Piah leads with love and patience, the space is beautiful and welcoming and the kids are adorable. As a mother of two, I had experience with childcare before visiting Sandbox and can say that Piah has created a special, unique environment. While it is kid-friendly, it is also beautiful and speaks to Piah's background as an artist. Kids are free to be kids but with natural materials and toys that would fit right into a cool design office. Such a great find and the small group of kids had has been the perfect transition from being home for our daughter. Piah makes from scratch all of the snacks and meals which are healthy and organic and is one less thing to worry about as a working parent. As a new mom looking for a place to care for your 6 month old, it was overwhelming to think of leaving your baby with a stranger. Piah was the first in-home daycare we visited and it seemed perfect but we had no frame of reference. After visiting a few others I realized just how amazing Sandbox was and couldn't imagine my daughter anywhere else. Everything is so well maintained and clean but with all the loving touches for the kids to explore and learn as they grow! Before starting we came by a couple of times to sit with Piah so my daughter could get to know her and the surroundings. She immediately took to Piah and it made me feel more comfortable about the transition. We've now been with Piah for a little over a year and I consider her our 2nd family! I honestly don't know how we are ever going to leave. My daughter loves being outside and Piah has setup a wonderful indoor and outdoor play space for the kids. I love seeing all of the daily pictures of circle time, creative time, water play, just to name a few. One thing I also really appreciate about Sandbox is that Piah doesn't make you bring multiple bottles or food once they begin on solids. It's such a relief with so many other things to deal with as new parents, that Piah makes organic home cooked meals and snacks. You know your child is going to be well loved and fed. I found Sandbox Nursery 5 years ago when I was looking for daycare for my daughter and it was the best decision we could have made. Piah creates the most loving, nurturing and creative environment for the children and babies in her care. I am happy to be back at Sandbox with my son , giving him the same fun opportunities and excellent level of care. Although the world looks a little different now, I am reassured knowing he has a clean, safe environment to go to everyday and socialize with others. My husband and I feel so incredibly grateful to have found Piah at Sandbox Nursery and could not imagine the last year without her. She is not only like family now but also a friend that we have relied on for advice so often as new parents. I don't know what my family would do without Sandbox Nursery! My 19 month old daughter has been going here since she was 6 months old and absolutely loves her days at Sandbox. The transition to daycare was very scary for us new parents but Piah made sure it was a very smooth process. From day one, we have felt extremely comfortable leaving our daughter with Piah and her team. Not only do they treat the children with such kindness and patience but they create developmentally appropriate activities for them to do throughout the day. We really appreciate knowing that our daughter is in a safe place to be cared for as well as learn. It's exactly the environment we want for our daughter and so aesthetically pleasing (bonus!)- wood toys, soft colors, great music, endless outdoor activities! Sandbox Nursery is a home away from home. It is run by Piah and her wonderful team. Piah has created such a welcoming, warm and loving environment. Our son absolutely loves going there and we couldn't ask for a better place. The entire team is incredible and highly cares for all the kids. Our son is exposed to hands on learning and nurturing friendships: an education we're grateful for. Besides circle time and lots of reading the kids get to play mainly outside, which is such a huge plus, and the backyard offers room for endless activities (including water tables, slides, sand boxes, yoga and dance parties). I don't even know where to begin on how much we love Piah. When I started the daycare search, I went to go see 15 places in less than 10 days. By place #14, I was feeling so depressed, scared, worried, stressed. Place #15 was Sandbox Nursery. From the second I stepped inside and met Piah, I knew that this was the only place I could leave my baby. We could not be happier with our choice. Piah feels like a part of our family, and we cannot imagine our lives without her! Her place is clean, beautifully decorated, and such an awesome environment for kids to explore and grow. Our daughter had begun to outgrow her nanny at around 16 months old and was very ready for a more social atmosphere with more of a learning environment with other kids. I toured many daycares in the area and usually left feeling very so-so about them. But when we first came to Sandbox nursery and met Piah - I knew in my heart this was the one. Everything felt so right and I've been thankful ever since that we found a home here. Our daughter has now been in Piah's care for over a year and I can't say enough good things! We love the small group of kids and the home-environment so much. Piah is so talented with babies and toddlers - her confidence and leadership is felt by the children and the atmosphere feels calm, and happily under control. Piah used to teach preschool so she knows exactly how to engage the little ones and goes far beyond keeping them safe/fed/napped! They read, dance, do lots of crafts & painting, play with the sand and water table, learn colors, shapes, letter sounds and even a little Spanish! They make play-doh, play with bubbles and and run around, swing, slide and climb in Piah's huge backyard. Piah sends us photos of fun moments throughout the day so you feel like you're a part of your child's experience. And she's a wonderful photographer - some of her photos of our daughter are our favorites of all time. I don't know how got so lucky to find Sandbox and Piah for my boys. As a first time mom, I was really nervous about finding childcare and when I visited Piah when I was 5 months pregnant with my first, I just knew. She is a baby whisperer and knows what they want and need. After I found out I was pregnant with my second, Piah was my first call to secure a spot for my baby. Both of my boys have been at Sandbox since they were 4 months old and it's been a dream. Piah has created a loving, nurturing and educational environment. She provides so many enrichments including yoga, arts & crafts, music and more. She's so creative and is constantly upgrading the space with new fun areas to explore including a hobbit house! Now that I'm touring preschools I appreciate Piah even more as she's created an environment on par with some of the best preschools in LA. Having childcare that you can trust is the most important decision a parent can make and I cannot recommend Piah enough. I'll be so sad when it's time to move on. read more

I love Sandbox Nursery! My son has been going here full time since he was 4 months old. Sandbox is a serene, safe, home environment with a beautiful large backyard playground. Everything is clean and organized. Piah takes great care in making updates to the yard and buying the latest, most developmentally stimulating toys in all natural materials. No plastics. She is conscious of being environmentally responsible and helps instill those values in the children. She provides healthy organic meals 3 days a week. This is the only place where my son will actually eats his vegetables. There's enrichment programs with music, yoga and art. There's a newly built "hobbit house" for play, a garden box where the kids are growing vegetables, sandbox, tire swing and water table. I love how much time the kids spend outside in the fresh air exploring. Even at 2 years old, my son seems way more advanced in language and social skills than most kids his age. It's all thanks to Sandbox and how much they care about their kids and strive to create educational activities for each stage of their fast growing minds. My son has been under Piah's care since he was 4 months old. He is now 19 months old. As a first time mom, I was so anxious to leave my baby to return to work. Just as our good friends who referred her to us said, Piah is the baby whisperer! She is absolute magic with these babies and I trust her more than anyone in this city. The in-home daycare experience is so special, it is like dropping your child to trusted relative's home, but they actually learn things! The space is incredibly clean and organized (and I am a neat freak so felt very comforted by this!) The day is full of awesome activities like finger painting, crafts, music, dancing. We get sent photos every day (which is amazing) and my son eats an organic, healthy meal under her care. The outdoor space is more than we could hope for and was a true selling point- tons of room for the toddlers to toddle and explore in safe backyard. Piah is someone I trust wholeheartedly with my child's life. We love her and feel so insanely lucky to have our child attend Sandbox Nursery!
