I can't say enough about my experience. I'm awaiting hip replacement surgery and haven't been able to go on the beach for probably 2-3 years. I own a gorgeous oceanfront home in Ocean City MD and have had to sit on my balcony while watching my family and friends enjoying themselves on the beach. I rented for two days last week and it was life changing. Easy to operate and fabulous customer service. I'm getting it again tomorrow! Thank you so much for getting me back to the beach. read more

The Sand Helper arrived when promised. It gave me the opportunity to get down to the beach that I can no longer do because I can't walk in the sand. Plus I was able to enjoy the boardwalk that would be a long walk. I was nervous about renting it but my sons understood the directions and easily explained the operation. We were very impressed with it, and several people stopped to inquire about it. (I was in Ocean City, Maryland.) This company's sand scooter was the perfect solution for getting our 95-year old matriarch, who can no longer walk on dry sand, all the way to the water's edge to continue to join our family gatherings on the beach. It also made it possible for her to take a "stroll" along the boardwalk. Her 60+ year tradition of hosting a family beach week in Rehoboth Beach DE went on without her having to sit in the house all day. She loved the scooter, and once again was eager to spend time on the beach. Sand Helper delivered and picked up the scooter exactly as they said. We found it very easy to use. It motored her up several blocks to the beach entrance and was even easier to use on the sand. The batteries lasted all week with only 1 recharge. Potential renters should consider whether they have parking space for it at night, and whether the route it would need to take to get to the beach is safe for a walking-pace vehicle, particularly if there is no sidewalk at places. This is an awesome way for mobility challenged individuals to navigate the beach and boardwalk! We rented the beach chair with balloon tires for my mom, who can walk, but tires easily in the soft sand. Very, very pleased with our experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend this company to rent beach-ready powered wheel chairs - in fact, I signed up for Yelp just so I could rate this company. We rented a powered wheelchair from these folks for my mother-in-law to use to get to, and move around on, Bethany Beach in Delaware, and I am extremely happy with the overall experience. Booking and rental is very easy via their website at ocwheelchairs.com. Nick delivered and picked up the wheelchair as scheduled and gave a very simple, yet thorough overview on how to use the chair and charge its batteries. The chair has fat tires for use in the sand and has a comfortable seat which can be accessed from the front or from the side if you flip up the arms. The chair is easy to use with a joy stick controller, and it stops automatically when you release the handle for safety. For a couple of tight spots, I simply operated the controller while walking next to her, but she handled the rest. The whole process was very simple and just made my mother-in-law's trip. Without this wheelchair she would not have been able to get up on the beach with her family and the vacation just would not have been the same. If you have elderly, or other family members who have difficulty walking, this is a great way to make sure they don't miss any of the fun. read more
