We hired Sanchez painting on 28 April 2022. He quoted us $7000 to surface prep, prime and paint four buildings on our property. He understood that for us, closing on the property was contingent upon having these buildings repainted. Verbally, he agreed to have all of the structures finished for inspection by 2 May in time for our closing inspection. Contractually he wrote in May 6 to allow time for inclement weather. Over the course of the next week, he had a hired man come out for approximately four hours to pressure wash some of the chipping paint off the structures, most of the time his man was on the job, his hired man was smoking in on the phone. We did inform him of this. He himself only came out and supervised for approximately one hour that day. On another day while we were on the property with him, he worked for about two or three hours. The pictures provided as part of this review were taken on 5 May, 24 hours prior to contractual completion of work. As you can see he did not even finish site prep. We also checked with his local paint shop and he hadn't even purchased the primer for spraying yet. I texted him the next morning that the job hadn't been complete, it was May 6, and requested a fair invoice for work complete as well as arranging return of funds from our initial 40% down payment. I texted him twice that day and received no phone call email or text in response. Monday morning, while at the property, he arrived and asked for his equipment back which he had left on the property for almost 2 weeks unsupervised. He again refused to provide a return of our initial down payment and stated that The down payment was nonrefundable. It does not mention this anywhere in the contract nor did he tell us this verbally when we hired him. If you hire this particular contractor, be very wary of his timelines and giving him any money upfront. I will not be using again. read more
