In over 5 decades on this earth I have yet to encounter customer service and general incompetence…read morethat equals just how bad Kinetic is. I work from home so high-speed internet is very important to me. Kinetic's 1Gbps service was appealing at first, but in 2 years I rarely (if ever) got 800Mbps service. From the beginning their router/modem had so many issues with the WiFi portion of that router I reverted to my own router to address those issues and set their router/modem aside. Recently I foolishly thought "let's try their 2 gig service, maybe it'll be better". I tried twice to order an upgrade to their 2 Gbps service, each time their order management system claimed it was completed but the poor bandwidth remained, and when I called in after seeing the erroneous status they said it was cancelled both times with no explanation given. Tried again this morning, explaining to customer "service" what had happened, I spoke to one rep that was a glimmer of hope (she actually sounded like she was stateside and not in Hyderabad or Gurugram, India) - she was apologetic and seemed genuinely concerned, we got a bit closer to finding out what had happened with billing since this debacle started, but that blink of hope was extinguished immediately once she forwarded me to service/repair (with someone in Hyderabad or Gurugram, India). To shorten the story that happened with service, they claimed that my account HAD been provisioned for 2Gbps (speed tests proved otherwise, still sub-800Mbps), and that I HAD to use their supplied router/modem (an Eero 7 wifi router). Now if this was true, my current setup (an Alta Route10 router and Eero 6 wifi) would not be working at all. After going around and around with the service rep, I said "just provision me back to 1 Gbps now and we'll just forget about 2 Gbps". Now, what's left of my internet service hovers around 55Mbps down / 0.5 Mbps up at best. At this point I've been handed off to the "customer loyalty" department, presumably stateside again and I guess with the intention to try to get me to stay with the 2 Gbps service that I have YET to receive. I was told "your account was provisoined for 2 Gbps service but it won't kick in until the next billing cycle" which was 8/19 (i.e. tomorrow). Also, he claimed "we'll ship out that Eero 7 modem for you so you can try it", which was another $10/month. This is above and beyond the numerous service outages I've had during my tenure with Kinetic's service. They'll alert me by text to outages AFTER they've been resolved. That's helpful, how? With all of this, I have to say that I feel like I've been bent over a barrel since I can't get other fiber internet options in this town, Spectrum is not a good option, AT&T has horrible wireless service in my area, Starlink might work but I have trees to deal with, and the one truly reliable fiber internet provider in town isn't available in my neighborhood. I don't know that they'll get around to bringing back my previous sub-gig service at all now. If you live in Kerr County, Texas and have access to HCTC fiber service, by all means sign up with them. If your only choice is Kinetic, you'd be better served by becoming a Luddite and foregoing all technology that requires internet service. It's that bad.

Switch to StarLink.....it works everywhere and is cheaper. Kinetic has the worst customer…read moreservice. I've been their customer for 10 years and my WIFI charge (Nothing else) is now $147. I called and asked what they could do and they offered me $5. My neighbors pay half this amount. I canceled the account. As a 73 year old senior I find this price gouging outrageous. FOlks...Try StarLink. I have it now and its amazing!! No more Kinetic over priced buffering service. I suggest you find a different provider or rent a Starlink system and give it a try.
