Now, when it comes to pizza, "best" is extremely subjective...kinda like our attraction to people of the opposite sex. Some people like thin crust, some won't eat anything but thick. Some people like traditional toppings, while others prefer crazy combos. Some people like heavy cheese, some like just a touch. Here's my idea of the perfect pizza...thin to medium crust with just a hint of salt, lots of homemade sauce made with fresh herbs, minimal cheese (preferably fresh mozzarella), and 1-3 toppings (not usually meat, but I can be won over by some good pancetta). Ahhhh...I'm back in Europe. I know this because the architecture, coffee, and gelato make me drool and the pizza doesn't suck! On the way back to the car one night, we saw this place just off the main street of the historical alstadt...we came back a couple of nights later to try out their pizza. It took us awhile to narrow it down to two pizzas from their two full pages of choices. (BTW...one pizza would have been plenty.) We added on a salad and bruschetta to make the perfect meal. This pizza made this pizza snob smile...big. Balance = Perfect. Crust = Thin...crunchy and chewy. Sauce = Excellent...fresh! Cheese = Fresh mozzarella...no grease drips! Overall = One of my favorites! Excellent quality meats. Rivals my favorite NYC pizza from Lombardi's...lecker! Service was fast and friendly. I can't wait to come back and eat some more...under the trees on the front patio (in summer!).

It always makes me laugh when you have an authentic Italian cafe no matter what country you're in.....yet no Italians are there. In Ingolstadt, that all changes. The city is already one of the nicest in Germany, so sweetening that up with a little Italian cafe makes it even better. Simply put....they make great coffee here. One of the better I've had in Germany. They also have a nice food selection for small snacks and light meals. Focaccia bread pizza, pannini, etc. There's also a full bar if you come back in the evening. Overall just a great little place to stop and take it easy or meet up with friends as I did. You'll see a lot of Audi employees fueling up here before heading to work. That's good because they know where to go! Plenty of outdoor seating makes warm days very relaxing and unlike anything I could find at home......they got warm wraps to borrow if you still sit outside when it's cold. Only downside is that it gets packed inside....especially when a soccer match is on, and the bathrooms are really tiny. Just be aware. Extra tip: Try the lemon soda.....so good!

They have a small lunch menu with changing items but be sure to ask for their Lasagne-Rosso with meat and verde with spinach. Both are really good.
