Wonderful school. Staff is dedicated and they are invested in the kids. One of the best schools in LA County.

Review #971 2026-037…read more My teen daughter is on her high school's JV Swim Team, & had a meet at San Pedro High School last week. At the time, I didn't know it was held here & went to the main campus on 1610 S. Leland St. based on their athletic calendar & H's swim meet schedule (that doesn't include the address). She had a performance that made her miss the team bus so I had to pick her up; luckily, I was an hour early & saw maintenance by the entrance, who informed me their pool is at the Olguin Campus. She texted her teammates & they also shared the Leland St. address. I'm assuming the team bus also went to the main campus & was redirected here. When I arrived at the Olguin Campus, the driveway was a bit confusing & I ended up at the valet line with a teacher/administrator yelling at me to keep moving. I flagged her down & said I need to drop-off my daughter at their pool for a swim meet, & she told me to circle around & make a left. It was hard to understand her, considering the distance she was yelling directions to me that I ended up exiting the campus & driving around the perimeter of the school on 36th St., adjacent to the back of the school. I found an entrance/exit on Leavenworth Dr. & found it was locked on closer inspection. It took another 8-mins. to circle back to Alma St. & enter the campus again. I dropped off H at the pool's entrance & circled around for parking. There's no public parking, & saw several cars parked on the red marked zones near the pool, & others parking in the teacher lot. I didn't see any parking permits so I rolled into one of the empty spaces. Swimming Pool Directions: - enter/head east on Main St. - head towards circle, & make right on Spring St. - drive ~0.1-mi., pool is on left It was perfect swim weather, sunny & low 70°s! H competed in 4 events: 200YD Medley Relay (swimming 1st on 50YD backstroke), 200YD Freestyle, 100YD Freestyle, & 4 x 50YD Freestyle Relay (swimming 4th/anchor position). She came in 1st in all her events & in the relay legs to help the girls JV win: 103 (WHS) to 28 (SPHS)! She's a couple inches taller & a bit stronger in her sophomore season... shaving 30+ secs. from her distance swim (200 Free). It was a redemption swim from her freshman year: 1st on 50YD backstroke but team came in 4th, 3rd on 200 Free, 1st on 100 Free, & 1st on 4 x 50 Free Relay with team score of: 66 (WHS) to 70 (SPHS). Post-meet, I was able to research that there are 2 San Pedro High School campuses, with the 2012 San Pedro High School -- John M. & Muriel Olguin Campus established to alleviate overcrowding at the original flagship school & to house specialized college-prep magnet programs, marine science & police academy. And I found their campus map on their website.

I went to Cabrillo Street Elementary in San Pedro, to enroll my kid but my experience was terrible…read more A woman in the office with the last name VIDACA was rude, incredibly impolite, disrespectful, inconsiderate and completely insolent. And the worst part was that the principal was inside her office with the door open and she didn't say anything! I was so disappointed that this lady could be rude and walk all over the staff as if she owned the school. Of course I grabbed my papers and I went to enroll my kid to Leland Street Elementary were I was treated with respect and my kid is having and amazing time. I don't have to worry about being mistreated by the first face I see in the morning!!! This lady should be fired! She should not work for LAUSD!!!

I can't believe I trusted this school with my daughter. I was lucky to have Ms Salazar along side…read moremy son when he was attending there, but after she left this school is pure evil and a complete sh*t show. I gave it a chance with my daughter, because the school is close to work and there are still some good teachers who actually care. The staff here really has some nerve. They do not take any complaint or constructive criticism the right way. They will call dcfs with false allegations when their staff alone needs help. Lets start with Ms. Patella who obviously needs mental help. She complains about the student to parents saying things like "These kids are driving me crazy" and calling the class "idiots" and looks burned out. Then we have the unprofessional Counselor Ms. Gastelum who always looks like she hasn't showered and had faded blue hair at one point (talk about unprofessional). She lacks in so many ways, I don't even know why she is a "counselor" and believe me, I am not the only parent who feels this way, because I've talked to plenty! They had a mouse infestation over the summer and you can smell it in the hallways, since then my daughter had to have an inhaler prescribed!! I came to pick up my child once and she is sitting in their office with blood running down her face with poorly bandaged butterfly stitches, that even the ER doctor was baffled!! What kind of school only has a nurse on certain days?? Claiming she ran into another student but then said it was a wall? This lets me know they do not supervise on the yard effectively. Let's not forget the time I brought my daughter pizza and cupcakes for the classroom and ended up staying because the teacher was nowhere in sight and they had a very young girl supervising a complete free for all in the class. That same week the teacher messaged me saying my 7 year old didn't come back to class after lunch? This isn't high school! How in the world does a 2nd grader get lost and then becomes the problem? The staff then accused my daughter of "dressing herself" because she has a unique style and likes to borrow some of my stuff. Sorry I allow my daughter to express her little fashion statement. They claimed she looks disheveled when the teacher herself looks like she rolls out of bed and has no patience! Your child will get bullied and nobody will return your calls or complaints for days even weeks! My poor daughter suffered stomach aches and anxiety because she was being hit by two boys and nobody ever addressed this and when they tried, they claimed "They are just being kids" The only hope this school has is Ms. McManess and the poor woman at the front desk that was the only help when I was frustrated. Beware! I made the best choice removing my child from this school. Since then my child is thriving, loves school and not a single complaint. The new staff, counselors and nurses at her school know what happened and have been a warm blessing to us! My coworker used to work there and she warned me about this and I should have listened, but like I said I trusted them with my child. These people have a special place for them.
