Our instructor and driver, Skye, picked us up at our hotel at 8am. This was in October, so it's quite cool in the morning (high 30's) so dress appropriately in layers as you ride in the back of the jeep in the open air. Skye took us through the town of Telluride and up the county road to Imogene Pass. It's a road the miners used back in the early 1900's so expect a bumpy ride on the one lane road up the Pass. Skye stopped at various points throughout the trip explaining the mining history and the various mining properties along the way (Smugglers; TomBoy; Pandora; etc.) The views are spectacular and Skye's insight was impeccable. We learned a lot along the way. We were unable to make it to the top that day due to ice on the higher elevation roads, but we made it up 12,500 feet for an incredible adventure and outstanding views. Final note - be sure to dress in layers as it gets warmer as you drive toward the top (in the Fall) and than colder at the top. As you come back down Imogene Pass it will again be warmer so you will want to adjust your layers accordingly.

He was knowledgeable, funny, patient, and especially great with our kids, which made the whole experience enjoyable for our entire group, from our young children all the way to my parents. The tour took us to Bridal Veil Falls, the tallest waterfall in Colorado, and then to an incredible overlook with one of the most breathtaking views of Telluride. We never would have experienced these places the same way on our own. Riding in the restored 1970s Austrian military 6x6 Pinzgauer was an adventure all by itself. The truck handled the terrain unbelievably well, and the ride struck the perfect balance of excitement without ever feeling unsafe. It was just enough adrenaline for the kids while still being comfortable for my parents. If you're visiting Telluride, I can't recommend Dave's Mountain Tours enough. It was fun, scenic, family-friendly, and absolutely worth it. Ask for Grant if you can!!

So much fun flying through the air and viewing beautiful Telluride! We experienced 5 long rides and also 2 aerial bridges and 2 rappels. They treat their horses VERY well and this should be very important to you, as a rider and a decent human being. These horses are loved and very well cared for. Each trail leader we've had has commented on the high level of care that Ann gives these horses and it shows. Every horse we've ridden has been a great, happy horse. 2. Ann empowers women and girls. The majority of employees at Rapp are women and that's not an accident. Ann also has younger girls come volunteer their time to learn how to work the corral and take care of the horses. Very cool. 3. Their location- right by Haviland Lake and across from the gorgeous red cliffs. Yes, they just burned this summer, but there is still plenty of beauty to behold in that area. Do yourself and your family a favor and ride at Rapp. It is quality fun all the way around.

There aren't any ladders or technical sections, just a steady uphill climb that becomes a bit steeper after the second waterfall. We hiked it with our Labrador, Luna, and she had no trouble at all. Along the way, you'll pass two smaller waterfalls before reaching the main Bridal Veil Falls, which makes for great places to stop, take photos, catch your breath, and enjoy the scenery. The trail is about 2.5 miles round trip. It took us longer than average because we stopped often to take in the views, but it was well worth the time. There is also a decent amount of shade from the trees, which makes the hike more enjoyable on warmer days. It's a popular trail, so while it never felt crowded, there were people hiking up and down throughout the day. That made it feel safe without taking away from the experience. If hiking isn't your thing or you're short on time, you can also drive to the top with a high-clearance 4WD vehicle to see the waterfall without making the hike. Overall, this is a must-do if you're visiting Telluride. Beautiful scenery, dog-friendly, and one of the most rewarding hikes in the area.
