If you live in or near San Clemente and need help with your garage, strongly consider SC Garage Door. I've used this company several times over the years including this week. The owner John is incredibly knowledgeable, punctual and extremely fair with price. Couldn't be any more pleased with each visit, ranging from a garage door "tune up" to replacing a motor, each experience is what I'd hope for. read more

San Clemente Garage Door - Don't be fooled by copycats. This is the real deal! - Garage Door Services Near Me - San Clemente, California

When something fairly essential needing quick repair breaks at home (water heater, plumbing issue, electrical, garage door, HVAC, etc), I get a pit in my stomach knowing that the vendors may to try take advantage, and my family will likely end up paying more than it should. I can say with complete confidence that San Clemente Garage Door is NOT one of those companies. John was prompt, responsive, efficient, friendly, and reasonably priced. Within 48 hours, he ordered, picked up, and installed a specialty part for us and our garage door is back in action. We will use him again when the need arises and HIGHLY recommend his company. It's awesome to know that we have a trustworthy professional local small business to turn to for garage door services. Give San Clemente Garage Door your business. While I did not end up having any business with John, he was up front about him not doing the type work we needed and referred me to someone who could help us. I really appreciate that he returned my call to give me that advice as opposed to just blowing me off since he would not be getting any work from me. That's cool and that is how you run a good business. Thanks John! read more

While we didn't end up being able to use John with San Clemente Garage Door, I would like to say he is extremely efficient with messaging back and messaging in detail. Based off my bit of information, he was able to honestly evaluate the condition of my garage door. He provided a great deal of knowledge and rough prices in his opening message. I support any company that is upfront and honest. Will absolutely keep him in mind for the future and would definitely recommend! read more

Our garage could not open due to broken spring and had our car stuck in garage. John responded before 730am the morning I left message and was able to get our car out that morning and garage fixed shortly after. Great technician, easy to understand his process, and great service overall. read more

When you have a problem with your garage door, it can really cause problems. Your cars can be "trapped" inside, and no one wants to mess with heavy duty springs under tension. That's when you're at the mercy of the technicians, and they know it. John at SC Garage Door is an honest professional that won't up-sell you on things you don't need, and won't take advantage of you when you have limited options. And his pricing is the best in South OC. I've shopped the competition and he was 40% less expensive! Great, honest service. read more

I called San Clemente Garage Door and talked to John he was extremely knowledgeable, honest and up-front. Upon visiting the site he informed me that I needed a new garage door (which he does not do). John is awesome. Writing this review under my wife's yelp account since I don't have one. I only write reviews on occasion when we experience exceptional service/work. John is honest, prompt and an expert at his craft. The honest part is the most important to me. Can't go wrong w John for any of your garage door repairs/needs. read more

Our garage door hinges were pulling away from the door... The original hinges went into a cheap thin piece of metal. The door still looks fine so we wanted to salvage it rather than buy a new door. John came out made a quick diagnosis then ordered the parts and had it fixed by the end of the week. The door functions perfectly...no more tearing apart and making an awful clunking sound. He charged a fair price and showed up right on time. Truly A+ service. read more

Great experience. Was willing to troubleshoot over the phone to see if I could fix my garage door myself, I could not so scheduled the appointment. He arrived on time, fixed the problem quickly, and was pleasant. Extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of garage door servicing. read more

I thought I would save a few bucks and install a door opener myself. I soon realized that with the configuration of my garage door it was much more complex than I realized at first. I called John at San Clemente Garage Door based on earlier reviews I had read and everyone (with one weird exception) was spot-on with 5-star ratings. He took a look and determined that I needed an accessory to modify the door tracking that had to be ordered. He followed up with me when the part came in and was early on site both times. He did a great job the right way for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend him. read more

John is fantastic! He installed a new wall mount garage door opener and the quality of work is of the highest quality and his prices are fair. However, I am most impressed with John's business ethics. I just bought this house which was built in 1999. I discussed on the phone with John that I am considering replacing the springs while he's doing the work and he said he'd check it out. I also asked him to take a look at any other maintenance I should consider. Long story short: he told me he replaced the springs on my garage for the previous owner a few years ago and I had many years of life left so no need to spend the money. He suggested a very inexpensive strut to strengthen the garage door, and he offered to lube all of the moving parts for free. In addition to the above, he is just a generally nice guy and very engaging. I strongly recommend John and San Clemente Garage Door for your garage door needs. read more

John was amazing! He was referred to me by my neighbor and I would love to refer him to the rest of Yelp! Great price, great work, and great guy. Look no further if you need anything to do with your garage. read more

Had an issue with the garage door. I requested information/ quotes through multiple companies on Yelp. San Clemente Garage Door was the ONLY transparent company. Other companies would not provide an estimate or were shady about "well it's this fee to start, then it might be 100-300 more." John got info from me over the phone and provided a quote. He showed up right when he said he would. He got everything fixed quickly and it was for the reasonable price he had quoted over the phone. Highly recommend. read more

We had an issue that happened where our garage door became crooked and would not shut. We called at 8 AM and by 8:30 AM on the same morning we had an appointment. John was at our house and had our garage fixed by noon that same day. I highly recommend San Clemente Garage Door and if I could add another star on Yelp, I would as he deserves it. read more

Another house another 2 doors, perfect as usuals! Great install, John and crew are great! Highly recommended

The spring broke on our garage door and we couldn't open the door to get our cars out. We were quite concerned since a holiday weekend was coming up. John returned my phone message and told me that he could not immediately repair the door due to his current schedule, but would come out to see if he could get the door to open so that we could get to our cars. He did as promised and returned the following day to repair the door. The cost of replacing the spring was reasonable. We appreciated John's quick response to our problem, and will certainly use his services in the future. I highly recommend John! read more

Loved these guys under the previous owner and now love them under the new owner. Called John on Saturday, left a message about the problem, received a call back early Monday morning, and he was out to the townhouse to repair a broken gear on the opener. I spent $330 12 years ago to have a brand new opener installed under the previous owner. It lasted all this time, so the $150 the new owner, John, charged for the repair was well worth it, especially since he was so communicative and got the job done in just a few minutes. It is so nice to be able to just make one call to a vendor and have them come out promptly and make a repair. My tenants appreciate it as well (no run-around with the scheduling, multiple visits, etc.) I'm an out of state owner, and he had no problem taking my billing address and invoicing me and waiting the time it takes to receive a check in the mail. He doesn't take credit cards, so the extra trust on his part makes this an A+ vendor. read more

John came to our house and explained various ways to fix our garage door. We opted for a new door and motor since it was about thirty years old. He is very knowledgeable and fair. Within three days we had our new door, motor, keypad and remotes. I'm very happy we chose San Clemente Garage Door and highly recommend. read more

About 18 months ago, John came out to fix our garage door. He was on time, friendly, and did great work. Just last week we needed some help and the first person I thought of was John. John is a great man. We have dealt with this company twice in the past 16 years. We needed a new garage door opener, no emergency. John told me about different options, and it turned out that the one he suggested costs less than some of the higher-priced models. Our job was completed in under an hour, it works fine and looks great. He gets the job done right the first time, every time!!! read more

John Martin was so professional and fun to work with. He ordered us a new garage door when ours completely broke. We had the new one installed within a couple days. I have been a customer of San Clemente Garage Door for thirty years. Dennis and Pat were great business owners, honest and helpful. Since they sold the business, I called out the new owner to service my mom's and my own garage doors. He seemed nice enough. Recently, I needed to call San Clemente Garage Door for two separate services. The first gentleman was fine but my second experience was terrible. San Clemente Garage Door, now subs out their calls. This last men, Mandre, from Garage Door Service and Repair, out of Orange, came out to my high end rental house and told me I needed to have everything replaced. To the tune of $1400, I balked, he then told me, I could just replace some things for, $450 or I could put a bandaid on it for $189 but that would cause stress on the motor and blow it out. I opted for the lube and oil adjustment, for $189. I don't know if he tried to up sell me, thinking I am rich, because of the house or what? I do know, that when I call out a local service repair company, that is what I expect. When I paid Mandre with my CC, via a smart Phone App, he asked for ID, I appreciated that but, he then wanted to take a picture of my DL, I said NO, are you kidding? With phone hacking and identity theft, you want to have all my info, on your phone? But, the most disturbing thing was, after Mandre left, I discovered none of my openers would work. So another service call, this time to Golden Rule Garage Door, Taylor came out and reprogrammed my openers. I asked him to look at my garage door system and tell me if it needed to be replaced. He told me they were safe and fine for now but at SOME POINT, down the line, I would probably need to replace them. San Clemente Garage Door, lost a good loyal customer and Golden Rule Garage Door gained one. read more

Our garage door was getting kind of jerky and not always closing. We called another company first (Xiamen Garage Door) and they tried to tell us that the wheels on the door need to be replaced at a cost of $400. Sensing we were getting taken for a ride, we contacted San Clemente Garage Door. What I received was the simple truth that the wheels were fine and they needed to be lubricated. John did the work at a fraction of the cost and also confirmed our suspicions regarding the first company. We appreciate people like John who operate with integrity and will spread the word. read more

Great service from John for years. He's knows his stuff, is genuine and treats his customers honestly. Love our Lift Master Wall Mount opener. His subsequent maint visits are easy on the pocket book read more

I had some work done on our door years back, and had been impressed enough with the service to remember SCGD and call again. John is the expert on garage doors, turned up on time, explained the problem and came back to repair the door once he had the parts he needed. He is so keen to back up his earlier work, that he almost didn't charge me for his time at all, until he realized that it had in fact been 10 years since his previous visit, and then he charged me half of what he could have. Old fashioned good business integrity- hope he's still working in another 10 years. read more
