We went to the San Carlos Library today to return and borrow new books. It's another world! Good thing A knew how it all works. She and B took care of everything as Popo watched in amazement. Everything is automated with scanners. They scan in the returns and get a receipt. Library is really nice. To virtue books, you scan your library tag, enter your pin code and scan each book. You can opt for an emailed receipt or a printed receipt. All done and away you go. I guess librarians have better things to do than check in and check out books.

Tile doodling for adults

There are so many programs and events here for both kids and adults. I absolutely love the evening arts and crafts for adults. The kids section is always stocked with new releases that keep kids interested in and excited about reading. My one complaint is that the adult side can get rowdy when the teenagers get out of school, so it's not a good time to go there if you're looking for quiet time. Also, the back of the adult side seating area tends to smell a bit when people with less than stellar hygiene hide out there. I personally avoid sitting back there. I have seen the staff wipe everything down at the end of the day, so I definitely go to the adult side in the morning knowing it's been cleaned.

I am amazed by the Children's section of the library. There are a wide variety of books for all ages. There are well organized activities on a daily basis which are updated on their website. Thy have boxes of toys which are brought out on certain days after children's activities. Really impressive set up and lots of fun for little ones. Checking out and Returning books is effortless and quick. I would love to see more books for infants and toddlers as well as a better stacking area for them. They are currently placed in 3 x buckets.

grand reopening

Having a library within walking distance of home is a great luxury, one that I'll miss dearly while this library is shut down for a few months for renovations. I'd probably end up spending a lot more on Kindle books if it wasn't for this place. Stopping by to pick up some children's books is a somewhat regular part of our weekend routine. Camille really enjoys drawing with the little pencils, bashing the keyboards, playing with the toys in the kids' area, and picking out books. They do a nice job of showcasing interesting books in all parts of the library. Looking forward to the reopening!

But some art here

This review is for the children's section of the library only. I really like the children section here, it is very big and has lots of interactive toys for young children to play with. I have not made it out to storytime here but it seems like there's a nice open area for the book reading. There are four computer set up specifically for toddlers although the sound on the headphones is not the best. This place is a great location to come to you when it is raining outside and your kid needs to come and let out some energy. For the adult side I would agree with some other reviewers that say that the organization system at this library is rather weird. Books are just organized by category and not by the dewey decimal system. You can still find books by using the catalog and going to the section that your book is located. Overall it is a nice library which has a separate section for small children which allows the large area to remain quiet. The hours of the weekdays are pretty good since it is open until 8 PM.

Employee Review - Admin assistant…read more I had the pleasure of working for NDNU's admissions and marketing team when they fully transitioned to a graduate university. Being a part of a huge shift was a learning experience and I was grateful to have had the support of several department heads. No one talked down to me or made me feel less than. Working on a campus surrounded by nature and spotting a deer on the daily brought me a sense of presence and peace that I enjoyed on my breaks. I would have stayed with NDNU but I moved out of the SF Bay Area. I enjoyed working with all the faculty and staff, but I especially enjoyed supporting current and future students. Though I was never a student I was impressed by the attention to furthering one's education by promoting small class sizes. What a way to feel seen and heard! Anywho, I'm rambling. If you have an opportunity to attend NDNU or work there, don't hesitate to apply. 4 stars because pay could be higher to meet cost of living in California.

I absolutely love this school. I will be walking the stage this Saturday, shaking hands, accepting…read moremy diploma, and tossing my cap way up in the sky! Finally, I'll be done. ((sniff sniff)) A few years ago I completed my Undergrad in Accounting & Finance here. Last December, I completed my last Graduate class. (Graduation ceremonies occur once a year in May.) NDNU is located in Belmont, surrounded by lush trees, wonderful weather, pretty animals, and even a beautiful mansion (Ralston Hall). NDNU has an extensive faculty of distinguished staff and professors with prestine wisdom and experience. The MBA program follows a stellar curriculum, applying assignments and projects to current, real world/global issues. Another great thing about NDNU is it's comprised of well diversed students with different backgrounds. Having such a diverse group enhances your education and brings more experience to the table, which is required in our global economy. Tuition at NDNU is definitely on the pricier side. However, this is a private university and it's worth it. Classes are intimate, enabling students with the luxury of a more one-on-one type of education. Students are not considered numbers here, but rather treated as well respected peers. Regarding education, you get exactly what you put into it. Each person may have their own opinion of this school, but what really matters is what you take away from what you've learned. NDNU has provided the necessary tools (ie staff, professors, and program), now it's up to each student & what they want to do with it. P.S. I am so done with writing school papers!

We attended the afternoon demonstration led by Steve Iwaki & Jerry Carpenter. They demonstrated how to properly wire and train a tree trunk for your bonsai as well as trimming. As a novice bonsai, we found their demonstration very educational! During the event, I met one of the volunteers who shared that Sei Boku Bonsai Kai was founded by a dedicated late nurseryman, Bob Kato way back in 1983. Since then, SBBK has been educating and training the public the joys of the Japanese art of training trees in a pot. Did you know that Bonsai, (pronounced "bone-sigh") translates to "planted in a container?" If you are considering learning more about bonsai, SBBK holds a monthly meetings every 4th Wednesday of each month at the Beresford Center. These meetings features workshops, demonstrations and benefit drawings and many more. There is also a monthly workshops that is hands-on advice every 1st Tuesdays of each month. Here are more additional training SBBK offers: Beginners class Lending library books, periodicals, videos, tools, and a seasonal wiring. Club Field Trips Annual exhibitions Networking with members and master bonsai experts. Lastly, we are grateful that this organization exist because we learned so much today especially how to properly wire our trees in a pot. After the demonstration, we were lucky to find a beautiful Japanese Red Pine that was said to be about 15-20 years old. Before heading out, we stopped by at the "Dr. Bonsai" table and John "JT" Thompson was very kind and taught us the right way to care for our new tree. What a fun day we had. Cheers!
