I was driving long distance and was extremely low on gas with no gas stations or exits close to one in sight on the US-101N. I searched on the map, and closest was San Ardo Liquors. Super expensive, movie-like in isolated deserted town but helped my almost empty tank. Had to flip the switch manually to get the gas going and prepay inside the store. Only bathrooms are port-a-potty that smell like death. Ran out faster than ran in. read more

They are the only gas station for miles. No public restroom. Two portapotties outside and one was locked. The one that was open was absolutely vile. Unfortunately my young daughter had to use it so we tried to make it as comfortable as we could. There's a rest stop a few miles away - if you can hold it until then, do so, otherwise you're better off pulling off to the side of the highway to go! read more

You are motoring north on the 101 when your "low on gas" indicator goes on. You silently look at your unsuspecting companion and wonder "Shall I tell her or just continue on and hope we don't run out of gas because I wasn't paying attention...." The mouth goes dry and it gets difficult to swallow as you switch to the "Range" feature and watch the range leave the 40's to the 30's and see nothing encouragement on your Google Maps display. Then, as if sent by an angel of God, the metropolis of San Ardo situated in a depression just across the Salinas River! I nose the sleek blue beauty off the 101 onto the worn and well traveled Cattleman's Road. "What are we going here for?" questions my unsuspecting lovely. She shows such innocence in her eyes as to nearly make me sorry for not sharing the calamity that almost came upon us. "Gett'n gas." I reply, with such conviction and determination as if I had planned this stop days ago. People, there is only one place in town to get gasoline for your car, and this is it, so don't go looking for that big Chevron with the mini-mart and car wash. read more

I never write reviews but felt compelled to share my story about how this place went above and beyond for me when I was in a bad situation. I got a flat tire on 101 and had to leave my Car here overnight since it was Sunday and there were no Tire shops open. The owner, was by far the most helpful person I have ever met. She let me park my car there, kept an eye on it through her camera system, and assisted me in getting it towed. More people like her would make the world a better place. We texted and her message was always "people have to help each other out". Next Time I'm in the area I plan on stopping by to pay my respects. Update 5/9/22- I read through a few of the other peoples reviews. One person called the place/city unsafe. I felt very safe and even welcomed. Seemed like a tight nit community. A gem read more

Great little place. They provided gas exactly when I needed it. Perfect location for a gas station. At night the roads are not well lit, so you may start to wonder where the gas station is. Just go straight, it will be at the end of the road on your left. Trust me. read more

Really this is a one star location. I gave it an extra star for being there at all. The nex has in either direction is about 25 miles. There are no bathrooms here, only the most disgusting porta potties I have ever seen. It is the only business in town.. Sigh read more

Cashier was friendly and 80's style pump was a refreshing blast from the past and pumped fast. The cashier verified I wanted mid grade. Was happy they were open until 11:00pm on a Sunday night. Customers in the store were polite too. read more

My friend's fuel gauge had been on E for miles, not having encountered a gas station in a loooong time. We pull off to gas up in San Ardo. Turns out the attendant has just gone to bed, at the back of the station. You're pretty much at the mercy of his sleep schedule, even if he went to bed at 8:30 (when we pulled up), and not the posted hours stating they're open 'til 10. We're stuck there, pulled up to the pump, waiting for AAA, while there are ominous, loud bangs in the distance, just past this field of tall reeds. The town looks otherwise deserted. The place is eerie, as we half expected some masked serial killer or zombies or glowing-eyed children of the corn to emerge from the undergrowth. There's seriously no other gas station for many miles in either direction. Headed north the next fueling stop you can hope to hit is King City a good 22 miles away, and to the south, if you backtrack and head further east you might hope to hit something. You definitely don't want San Ardo to be your last resort, especially if you don't have a membership with any roadside assistance clubs. read more

Life saver!!! Running on fumes and the only gas station available for miles! But the only reason why I would give it five stars is the service here. The ppl here are great! Kind and totally friendly and will openly give u great advice about anything that u would need for your travels through central coast. If you need to use the restroom, DO NOT stop here, keep going a few more miles to the next town. This is the only gas store / liqueur store in town. There is no actual restroom but instead a heavily used Porta-pot. The gas station is really old school and does not have an outside place to insert a credit card. If you are into checking out a very old gas station in a town that seems nearly abandoned, bring your camera and enjoy. read more

Great little gas station just when we needed it most! The woman there was very sweet and it was fun seeing the old school gas pumps.

The only place in San Ardo to get gas. The only place for MILES!!!!!!! Nice folks run this place, they're open 5am-10pm 7 days a week. Felt the need to write a review because I relied on the other comments. If you need gas it seems fine. Reviews were accurately written. Nothing fancy, no bathrooms but port-a pottys available. Was driving on the 101 when my daughter had to use the restroom she looked up gas stations nearby and that was the only one that was still on the same path to San Francisco so we went when we drove nearby there were no restrooms so we saw a cafe but it said customers only so she had to hold it and instead we went to a Mc Donald's super far away, she barely made it. I just like to add a little history about San Ardo Liquors. back in 1955 my grandparents built this store as a liquor store only called Joe's Liquors only one between King City and Paso..I grew up helping my grandfather stocking the candy and comic books..when my grandfather retired in around 1984 the new owner did some changes and turned it into the gas and liquor store..My grandfather also owned all the houses behind the store.. read more

Very convient stop if you run out of gas in on the 101. We arrived 45 minutes after closing praying that they were open and the owner was kind enough to open back up for us and give us gas and free water. Absolutely saved our trip, we were running on fumes and would have had to spend the night on the side of the road. It's a simple gas station, but the hospitality makes it a notch above the rest.
