We were sat in a section where you need to take your shoes off, the floor is elevated, so when you sit it feels like if you were sat on the floor eating. The food was very tasty and flavorful. Really liked this restaurant! Authentic Thai food which can be hard to come across in Germany I had the drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mao) with tofu and my partner had a noodle dish with chicken. My meal was really tasty and tasted very authentic. The tofu was also very good! I also had the Thai tea which was delicious. The restaurant itself is really nicely decorated and the service was fast. We made a reservation to sit at one of the Thai Tables, even though there is a hole underneath to put your legs through so it isn't really a traditional "sit-on-the-floor" type of situation. The only complaint I have is that meal sizes are a bit too small for the price. I don't have the largest appetite in the world but I still left feeling not 100% full. While looking for quick eats in the city, I stumbled upon this gem. I didn't realize how busy a restaurant could be on a Thursday night. The appetizer i order was #23 (Grilled Pork Skewers with garlic and Pepper), it was nice and tender! For dinner I ordered #155 (Fried wide rice noodles with chicken,chili and basil leaves... extra spicy) and they delivered. The dish was not only spicy but it has lots of flavor (and lots of pepper corns so be aware). We were 4 persons looking for a good Thai cuisine experience on a Friday night. Place is clean and staff friendly. We shared appetizers and the first sobering thing was that they served 3 pieces of each appetizers instead of 4 (number of persons). I ordered the papaya salad with shrimps as a main dish and was largely disappointed: the papaya was not fresh but pickled, there were only 3-4 tiny shrimps in the salad (at first I couldn't find any and thought they forgot). And on top of that, the entire salad swam in a sour pickle water. Didn't finish... My friend ordered the pineapple rice and expected it to be served inside of a half hollow pineapple. Also here: disappointment. The taste of hers, however, was good. In conclusion: there are better Thaï restaurants in Hamburg. read more

Went to Samui this Saturday evening. Finding parking was a challenge. Making a reservation was a good idea because it's a busy place. Red duck curry was tasty, slightly sweet with a good spice. Pad Thai with tofu was absolutely delicious. Noodles had the perfect bite and right amount of tamarind sauce. 5 stars based on Pad Thai alone. The Lab Nua salad (minced pork with herbs) had a good spice but the meat itself tasted bland. The herbs and spice were evident but they were separate to the meat not melded together. I loved the pad thai so much that we went back the next day for lunch before driving home to Rostock. Luckily we got a table without a reservation for lunch. Many of the tables were reserved once again. We started with the chicken vegetable spring rolls which were crispy, fresh and tasty. We only got 3 small spring rolls for €6.90. I would have expected at least 5-6 rolls for their basic amount of filling and small size. Once again, the pad thai tasted amazing. Noodles had a better bite the night prior but the flavour and tamarind sauce was still perfect. We also had the green squid curry. Squid was tender and curry sauce was tasty. I wasn't a fan of the large green pea looking things that tasted bitter. We asked the server what these were, she said they were part of the eggplant. I'd also ask for less or no bamboo shoots next time. Otherwise, the green curry is very tasty. Service was very good and we liked their thai outfits. The restaurant itself is decorated quite nicely but the bathrooms could use an upgrade with better decor to compliment the dining area. We will surely be back. Especially for the pad thai! Had read good things and tried when in this area: came for lunch, will be back with the family for more! Samui Thai is an oasis on a broad, bland Barmbek road; not a place you'll seek out if you aren't living closeby. Everything changes when you enter - you can sense there is meticulous attention for detail, for any detail. Be it decorations, music, the smell in the air, its cleanliness. There is a European-style, and a traditional Thai-style (no shoes) dining area. Even for their lunch menu they will give you multiple plates, beautifully folded napkins, and little decorations on your drink. Portion sizes were good, plus more rice than I could finish anyways. Now for the taste: It is the best Thai food I had in Hamburg, by far, and I don't expect there will be another one in town that is that good. No deep-fried duck here, no pre-made sauces, this is real cooking. And don't worry too much to order spicy dishes as long as you can handle regular spiciness ... yes, they will be spicy, but for "Thai spicy" you will have to ask separately anyways. Please ignore reviewers complaining about prices, I think that's only due to "Asian food" having a reputation for cheap eating for too many people: for the quality and service on offer, this is not an expensive restaurant; check out their menu online. read more

Quite good Thai. Clean, typical Thai deco with one side of normal tables and on the other side more traditional floor seating. We had a nice lunch with appetizers beforehand as we had an itch for Thai. Service was very polite and available but not really excessively involved or anything like that. The food was quite good but lacked a bit of flavor here and there. They also screwed up the spicyness of our dishes. My wife ended up getting the really spicy one and I the one without, which was the exact opposite of what we wanted. The soups we both had as appetizers were well prepared but fairly bland. It could be that we were both expecting more seasoning and hence take this opinion as nothing but that. The ingredients were all fresh and the food was properly prepared. I'd come back and give this place a second chance but I won't go out of my way neither to make sure to eat here again. Were it our local place we'd probably go here more but won't make the trip to here anytime soon. I would recommend though that one give it a try and make up their own mind. What we didn't like: the soup and dishes were too salty for our taste.
