I ate here every lunch for a week, and sampled a broad range of items and found it all good. The Kimchi Jjigae is punchy, spicy and enriched with belly pork and pork broth. Loaded with flavorful kimchi and presented with a bowl of rice and 3 banchan, this was a must have staple for me at every meal. The pork bulgolgi was tasty, spicy, and fatty--perfect for stirring into rice and more banchan. The djajiangmein was a surprisingly pleasing bowl of spring udon like noodles, earthy slightly sweet black bean paste, and little morsels of pork to give depth and rounded mouth feel. Bibimbap was accompanied by fiery Gochujang sauce and loads of banchan vegetables. Service is friendly and quick--walk all the way in to the end of the bar to place your orders for lunch. Reservations necessary at night--especially on the weekends! They are fully booked for good reason.

This was our first time having Korean food in Hamburg and it didn't disappoint! We arrived at Man…read moreNam around 6pm for dinner. The restaurant is spacious and even has a Karaoke stage set up in one of the corners. Not sure if they still do Karaoke as the signs out front seems to have been removed. Anyway, we got to ordering--the menu was quite sizeable with a lot of traditional Korean offerings. We started off with the seafood pancake, listed under the Snack section. It was pretty good; there was plenty of shrimp and squid in it. It could've been more crunchy, but still tasty. For my main, I ordered the Sun Du Bu, or tofu stew. You can have it with seafood or pork; I went with the latter. Usually sun du bu is served in a searing hot stone bowl with the soup still bubbling and you would crack an egg in it. This sun du bu here was served in a metal bowl with the egg already cooked in the soup, but it was still pipping hot and the flavours were on point. It was very comparable to the best sun du bu places in California! I would definitely order it again. Hubby ordered the kimchi stew, which was also very tasty. Our meal came with rice and a collection of side dishes (ban chan), which were all pretty good. The kimchi was probably my favorite out of the 6 side dishes served. The restaurant seems to be a mom and pop operation. Seems like "mom" looks after the customers and "pop" cooks. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised and will be back!

Man Nam could do better With their personal service, the waitress was very moody, and not friendly at all. We could have use a bigger smile and kindness to the service line. The atmosphere could also have been better. The restaurant deco and interior was "heavy", and really not that cozy to be in. Remember that the restaurant do not accept foreign credit cards (visa/or master cards) only Germans credit cards or cash.

I had a chicken dish with yellow curry and various veggies, it came with a side of white rice. They claim it's one of the spicy dishes - I'd argue that, but, I'm from Oakland, California, where there are 10 spicy Asian restaurants within a block radius of my house - and we're spoiled. So when I come to Northern Europe and get "spicy" food it's often not spicy. But, it was warm and tasty and the restaurant had great music playing. I enjoyed it - I just needed something quick and warming in between work. Thanks Bok for delivering it! (And yes, too many locations in one area..very confusing :) )

Also, Bok is an eclectic Asian restaurant, serving sushi, Thai food, and some hints of Chinese food. I played it safe and went with the fried tofu with veggies. Honestly, the fried tofu and veggies weren't bad at all. Delicate pieces of fried tofu with fresh assorted veggies and a light gravy. I had a bite of my colleague's fried chicken and it was enjoyable as well. It came with a side of a sweet sauce, but I didn't use any of the sweet sauce. If you're craving for Asian food in Hamburg, Bok isn't a bad choice.
