This was our first time having Korean food in Hamburg and it didn't disappoint! We arrived at Man Nam around 6pm for dinner. The restaurant is spacious and even has a Karaoke stage set up in one of the corners. Not sure if they still do Karaoke as the signs out front seems to have been removed.
Anyway, we got to ordering--the menu was quite sizeable with a lot of traditional Korean offerings. We started off with the seafood pancake, listed under the Snack section. It was pretty good; there was plenty of shrimp and squid in it. It could've been more crunchy, but still tasty. For my main, I ordered the Sun Du Bu, or tofu stew. You can have it with seafood or pork; I went with the latter. Usually sun du bu is served in a searing hot stone bowl with the soup still bubbling and you would crack an egg in it. This sun du bu here was served in a metal bowl with the egg already cooked in the soup, but it was still pipping hot and the flavours were on point. It was very comparable to the best sun du bu places in California! I would definitely order it again. Hubby ordered the kimchi stew, which was also very tasty. Our meal came with rice and a collection of side dishes (ban chan), which were all pretty good. The kimchi was probably my favorite out of the 6 side dishes served.
The restaurant seems to be a mom and pop operation. Seems like "mom" looks after the customers and "pop" cooks. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised and will be back! read more
