I just got to go shopping for a non-prescription pair of sunglasses for the first time in my life! The staff at Sacramento Eye Consultants are all pleasant and efficient, and I especially enjoyed working with Leeann from start to finish. If you need any kind of eye care, I highly recommend Sacramento Eye Consultants!

I checked in and was told to sit down. After waiting with no updates for nearly an hour, I went up to the desk around 1:50 to ask what was going on. That's when I was told my appointment was "actually" at 1:30 and that the email somehow accounts for the 15 minute buffer. That explanation made zero sense. I was then told I'd be next, but multiple patients for the same doctor were called back ahead of me. At 2:10, a staff member came out and loudly accused me of not completing my paperwork. When I started filling it out, I noticed the back page already had my signature and date. I pointed this out and was told I didn't fill out the section on health issues or surgeries. I don't have any. Somehow this turned into my problem. It felt very much like they were trying to shift blame onto me to cover up how far behind they were, and the attitude was rude and unnecessary. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is the doctor, who was excellent. Unfortunately, the front desk chaos, poor communication, and lack of professionalism completely overshadowed the visit. The front office seriously needs to get it together.

Everyone is so kind, informative, patient, and professional. Literally from the front desk staff, to their residents, and doctors. I have been seen by Dr. Hwang for my regular eye exams and was recently seen by Dr. Mao for my first ever contacts appointment. She was very kind, supportive, and patient with me during my appointment. I was able to get my contacts in (YAY!) and was provided with lots of information regarding my contacts, some tips & advice, and was told if I needed guidance to call the office at any time during their office hours. This is a wonderful place and you will always receive great care here. Thank you for the excellent service over the years!

Calling them and explaining my situation was easy. I was able to schedule an appointment not only for me but also my husband. Arriving and parking was simple. There's plenty of parking spots in the lot. I felt safe walking into the building. There was security cameras and vocal prompts. The ladies working the front desk were welcoming and nice. I was able to fill out paperwork easily. All of the fellow Kristina's (Christina's) there were very kind and helpful. I was impressed with how much equipment they had to test and examine eyes. My eyes are specifically sensitive to light so everyone who worked with me including my optometrist, Jennifer Mao helped and was kind during all of my breaks and tears. My husband went to his appointment later that week and overall we are thoroughly impressed and are happy new patients. If you are looking for a new eye doctor, look no further than Schermer Eye Associates for their great patient care and wonderful service.

I live in East Bay and continue to make the trip because the level of care, skill, and results she delivers are truly exceptional. Kristen is incredibly talented, thoughtful, and genuinely cares about her patients. She takes the time to understand your goals, explains everything clearly, and approaches each treatment with precision and care. I've trusted her with multiple procedures over the years, including Botox, facial laser treatments, PRP--and the results have been consistently amazing. .My results have been natural, noticeable, and long-lasting. If you're looking for someone you can trust with your face and skin long-term, Kristen is truly the best. I wouldn't go to anyone else. Highly, highly recommend.

Awful experience with the front desk after a great consultation with Dr. Barnette…read moreI've been searching for a trustworthy place to get vision correction surgery in the Sacramento/Roseville area. After a frustrating visit to a chain clinic that felt like an assembly line, I was relieved to find California LASIK & Eye. My consultation with Dr. Barnette was excellent--he was thorough, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. He supported my preference for PRK over LASIK and explained both options in detail. What impressed me most was his proactive approach to dry eye screening. He prescribed eye drops, asked me to stop wearing contacts for a month, and scheduled a free follow-up. It felt like real care, not just a transaction. Unfortunately, things took a turn when I tried to follow up on one simple question: had my dry eye improved enough to safely proceed with surgery? That question was missed during my second appointment, so I called the front desk for clarification. Instead, I was told by Megan that dry eye was a separate medical issue, and because they didn't accept my insurance, I couldn't speak to the doctor or schedule another appointment. I was confused--dry eye had been part of the pre-op evaluation and treatment plan, so why was it suddenly being treated as unrelated? She also said the doctor wouldn't clear me for surgery if dry eye was still an issue, which didn't sound convincing. She offered to release my medical notes so I could "read it myself," but that only raised more questions. In a follow-up call, Megan gave me two options: pay $283 out of pocket for a dry eye visit or pay the full amount upfront for surgery and ask the question during the pre-op. When I asked how I could commit to surgery without knowing if I needed more time to treat dry eye, she just repeated the two options without trying to help. What made it worse was how I was spoken to--Megan was curt, dismissive, and repeatedly cut me off. It completely eroded the trust I had in the clinic. I didn't mind paying out of pocket for necessary care, but the rigid policies and poor communication made me question whether I'd receive proper post-op support if anything went wrong. It's disappointing that such a promising experience with Dr. Barnette was derailed. I still appreciated his consultation, but the people he chose to represent his practice also reflect on him--and in my case, that was a deal breaker. I hope the clinic reconsiders how they handle follow-up care and patient questions, especially when those questions directly impact surgical readiness.

When I went to check out and…read moreget my date for cataract surgery, I was shocked and irritated to hear I owed $45 per eye, $90, for the drops given before the examination. That money I had set aside for Christmas presents. I didn't know about that before the appointment. I turned my face away, said, "This is 'f-ing crazy. " I also said Merry Christmas to myself. I was not irritated at the staff; I was irritated with the situation and disappointed. I also asked if they would check again to see if my insurance didn't cover it. Barnett came running down the hall accusing me of cussing out his staff. I was blindsided. Didn't see it coming. My words were not directed toward the staff. Barnett told his staff to cancel my surgery. I might add, I haven't been able to see well for 2 years. I was diagnosed back in April. I was also disappointed the surgery wouldn't be for 6 months. Depressed. It was a momentary reaction on my part, and I had no ill-will toward the staff. I tried to explain, but I couldn't. He yelled, calling me a liar! All this was in front of other patients in the waiting room. I begged Barnett to not to cancel my surgery! After calling me a liar, he promptly told his staff to take me off the books...no surgery. He threw me out of the office. I left in tears. A woman in the waiting room came to my car and told me she saw and heard the whole thing. She said," I watched you, heard you, and you didn't do anything wrong." She comforted me and was shocked at Barnett's behavior toward me. I still cry and get stomach aches over the event. I tried to apologize, but I wasn't allowed. Instead, I was called a liar and refused surgery and help. There should be a list of rules on his lobby wall: 1. No having a bad day 2. No irritation, depression, or questioning about insurance allowed. 3. No foul language allowed, not even to yourself. 4. No comments allowed 5. Must stay quiet and obey 6. No speaking 7. Sit down, wait, be treated without a word 8. Check out quietly with nothing said about money owed. 9. No questions...just pay 10. Smile, be cheerful, leaving any trials you're having outside the door. Do not bring them into this office. 11. No depression, irritation, frustration, profanity allowed! If you see Barnett, he'll be nice and apparently he will do a good job. He wasn't to me. If you ask him about this, he'll continue to call me a liar. Make sure nobody close to you died the day before you see Barnett...a husband, a child, a good friend...which might affect your state of mind and heart and being in a sad, depressed or frustrated way. That wouldn't be allowed either. Factually, Daryla 70 year senior On a fixed income.
