I studied abroad at Cambridge 4-5 years ago and still dream about the amazing sandwiches at Sam Smiley's. It was my favorite place to get delicious sandwiches for 2pounds. Sam Smiley is a deli, so there's no seating or any frills. When you walk in, there is a display of 20 different types of sandwiches. Prosciutto, Mozzarella, Turkey, Chicken, Indian Curries, Paninis, vegetarian sandwiches and more. The most fun I had was trying to pick a new delicious sandwich. All the sandwiches come on a skinny baguette, a piece of lettuce, and some delicious insides. My favorite was the Tandoori Chicken Sandwich (or was it the Chicken Tikka??? I don't remember). You point, pay, and eat. They sell out of the good sandwiches around 1:30pm, so make sure you come well before then! I really would go back to Cambridge just to have a sandwich from this place. I was expecting a really delicious sandwich after reading the reviews, but what I had was pretty average. Also, maybe it was just the time of day and they were out of most of the sandwiches, but there were only 3 to choose from (and that was at 1pm, so late, but not ridiculously late for lunch). Ah, Sam Smiley!! That is your name! I had to use Google map to find you in front of my old Summer EAP College Corpus Christi! Smiley's is a great place for a quick bite. I have fond memories of sitting on the front steps of Corpus Christi eating a Chicken Corn Baguette. The location was convenient and much closer than the market. Ah, to taste their delicious chicken and corn filling, and the crunch of that baguette brings back memories... 5 stars!! read more

I am giving this place five stars because it is a great place to go for lunch or for a light dinner. It is within walking distance of the colleges located in town and has cheap prices. There are many different varieties of baguette sandwiches (Ham and Emmental, Tomato and Brie, Chicken Curry, Prawn and Mayo, etc.), which they will gladly warm for you, for roughly 2.75 pounds. They also have sandwiches on regular wheat bread with similar ingredients for slightly cheaper. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to get a quick bite to eat! read more

This is a relatively good snack and coffee shop in central Cambridge. There are plenty of warm and cold sandwiches, ciabatta, various cakes and pastries and other small foods on offer. Prices are quiet good by local standards with around £2 for a typical sandwich. Definitely a good option for a quick takeaway lunch. read more

This place is a solid, Cambridge three: very decent rolls that really fill you up, but not a great selection. I'm a little puzzled by the raptures the place has provoked in other reviewers. I'd rate it solid student grub, but nothing out of the ordinary. read more

I am nine and I am writing about the caramel slices at Sam Smiley's. As soon as the front teeth bite into the crumble, you get a sensation of joy. Next up is the caramel fudge. A small but thick layer. It is sweet and sticks to the top of your mouth as you munch. Yummy! And last of all is the chocolate, same thicknes as the fudge. Milk chocolate with a good unexplainable taste. You buy them at Sam Smiley's cake shop. Bye! read more

Great place for a quick bite and everything is pretty inexpensive. While living in Cambridge I would go their on daily. The coffee is good and the samosas are delicious! Definitely go there if your hungry and wanting a quick bite! Great for morning coffee on the go. read more
