Most recently, I passed by and saw the for rent sign and 50% off everything in store sign. I went in and the back wall of chips and many of the refrigerated items were all gone. I did purchase some snacks. When I checked out, the cashier said J Life Mart will be closing end of February if not sooner. It's really unfortunate another business on Thayer Street is closing.

Another reason why I come here is because it feels safe at night; everything is well lit, there appears to be security cameras, so you don't have to worry about filling up your tank in the later hours. Its cheerful exterior is very inviting, and it features some unusual architecture (it was an old, yet futuristic-looking gas station at one time, apparently). In addition to a basic selection of drinks, snacks and groceries, it has a small deli counter, where you can purchase either deli meats, or made-to-order deli sandwiches, both very reasonably priced. I did see a very small selection of produce immediately to the left of the entrance. The section on the right presently appears to be used for storage (I'm not sure if it used to house a pizza operation mentioned in other reviews?). This market is diagonally across the street from the Modern Diner, another interesting piece of historical architecture. It's cool to see old buildings still around, whether they are being used for their original purpose, or re-purposed.

I came in today looking to sell some funkos and pick up some pieces for my collection and as soon as I walked in, after I said hello, he just told me "if you're coming in to sell funko pops, im all out of funko money." No greeting, nothing. It felt really backhanded and not to mention, the previous time I came here and he was working, he was rude as well! When I didnt have the kind of funkos they were looking for he told me they were "all commons" which was untrue and offered me $20 for 6 pops. I hope this guy gets his stuff sorted out and gets a reality check because frankly his work ethic is abysmal.
