Staff throughout the store were very helpful to this rookie Sam's Club shopper. New to the Amarillo area, I needed plenty of direction. Staff at the check out were also helpful, mostly trying to get folks to use the self checkout lane. I resisted. Fortunately, someone decided to simply have more checkout lanes. Excellent move. In an effort to support more jobs, not fewer, customers are resisting the corporate effort to turn us all into supermarket cashiers. So they raise prices and then expect us to do the work for free that they formerly paid to real people. Thanks to my family for opening my eyes to the insidious corporate reality. Over the years of being a club member I have encountered helpful and courteous employees. However, sadly you are much more likely to encounter a rude person regardless which area you are you are in at the Sam's on Westgate. One reason I've continued my membership is my passion for their frozen yogurt sold in the food court. The machine not working happens more often than not, and the employee responds to your question of why can't they post a sign on the machine by stating they're not allowed to. So after an often long wait in line guess what! Now, the ultimate rudeness. Sam's is now wanting to get rid of all their cashiers and forcing you to install their check out app. I stopped for a yogurt (take out) and was asked if I had the check out app to which I responded "no." I was then told they could only sell from their food court using the app, no cash can be taken!!! What?? Even the Sam's employees I encountered as I stomped out agreed this was ridiculous and a load of crap. One expressed my feelings of how she wished a Costco would come to Amarillo. I agree. read more

I have never been a Sam's Club member until about three years ago. In San Diego I belonged to Costco so a second membership wasn't needed. In Amarillo there is only Sam's Club so I decided to try a membership when I found a Groupon deal for $20 with a $10 rebate coupon. I felt like it was well worth the years membership I had for the gas prices alone at their gas station. They are often the cheapest place in town and not that far for me to drive to. Living by myself I don't need many bulk items although I did buy some protein bars once and some chicken salad and crackers to take to a potluck another time. When my membership lapsed I debated renewing it but decided I probably didn't need it enough to justify the full price. 2 years after it expired I decided to use another Groupon to get the membership again. This time it was $30 with a $20 rebate coupon to be used online. I figured I could find something I could use to make it worth it. Plus I'm able to put my daughter on my account and I know she used it a lot the first time around and will probably use it again this time. This location is so much smaller then the locations I'm used to in larger cities like Phoenix area and San Diego but I enjoy the fact that there are fewer people and it's much easier to navigate. I was disappointed they didn't have as many samples as the bigger city stores and of course once the covid virus hit then all stores had to discontinue samples. I had trouble redeeming the Groupon membership so a manager in the store just gave me a card anyway and I was able to pick up the prescriptions I needed and a couple of OTC medicines as well. Next time I need gas I'll be back. Oh, and I'd like to give a special shout-out to Natalie at customer service for spending so much time trying to help me get my Groupon membership going. She was so pleasant and friendly and patient and eventually she was the one that called the manager over to help resolve the issue. She's a great employee and I hope they keep her around for a while. The people at the pharmacy were very helpful also. I was pretty impressed with the price of the prescriptions, under $12 for two of them with my membership but without using any insurance at all. Since I'm from out of state that might have been complicated so I just started decided to pay it since it was so reasonable. I will definitely be back if I need any future prescriptions. read more

Dear Sams store, We shop here all the time both personal and business. Hardly ever have trouble. But with gas prices going down, people are flocking to the pumps. PLEASE PLEASE put up signs at eye level on the exit side to tell people not to come in the wrong way. Let them know they have to go around to the other side and wait like the ready of us are. When they come in the wrong way, it stops up the flow of traffic and those waiting going the right way have to wait until they figure how to get out. Because now there's two or three cars behind them also going the wrong way. All of them stopping the flow. A sign on the road to go around would be good as well as a wrong way one at the end of the pumps. Thank you. read more

I have been a member for over 30 years, this is the worst run store I have ever seen, filthy, very rude employees, ran like a third world country, wait in line while employees, mainly management stand around and look at us like we our fools, most unhelpful people I have ever dealt with, from now on I will shop at Costco in Lubbock Texas, it is one hour away, but well worth the time and effort, Sam Walton would turn over in his grave too see how low his establishments have sunk, good bye filthy pigsty. Oklahoma finally passed a liquor law effective October 2018 allowing the sale of liquor in grocery stores and selling on Sunday. Until till then, Texas here I come!! While on a trip I had a stop in Amarillo overnight and decided to run into Sam's to pickup a tax program on sale. I got my mask (since the C-19 virus is raging here and else where) and headed inside. I noticed a hand full of customers not wearing mask which was very disappointing. So I hurried up to do self-checkout and had to get someone to retrieved the software from a locked caged area. I assume it was maybe a manager since he had keys to the secure area. After getting my tax software I decided to mention that there are several customers without a mask ( just in case they slipped through or didn't know about the mask requirement stated clearly on the door). I my surprise he quickly informed me in a "matter of a fact way" that they are not a police force and can not make a customer wear a mask. I told him it was their store and they can make people do what ever policy they have in place or ask them to leave. He stated the Amarillo police informed them that they would not send anyone out even thought it was a county wide mandate to wear a mask inside a buiness. I noted that Costco requires a mask and they enforce it to protect their employees and other members. He quickly stated "We're Not Costco", which I quickly confirmed that to him. He explained that "Corporate" office tells them they can't enforce the mask requirement or ask a customer to put one on to protect their workers ( whom they lable as "Essential") or to protect other shoppers. Left as some as I could. I was very disappointed to see that they put a few dollar profits over health and safety and decide not to enforce a mask mandate in their stores even thought it is recommended by the CDC and the health care community. My hotel even mentioned I was lucky to get a room in the city because they had 700 traveling nurses staying for the past several months to help two large hospitals in town due to the C-19 virus. I had asked about what all the large buses (8-10) were doing because it looked like a sports teams were being shuttled around, back and forth from our hotel. After I left Sams, I thought about what he said, "we are not a police office, so we can't enforce mask wearing". I thought, your a membership club, so if they do something that is against your policies, then you can refuse to check them out and the store a can revoke their membership ( no cheap gas, no shopping) for endangering the essential employees and other customers trying to stay safe. I bet if I went to the corporate office of WalMart, they would require me to wear a mask or I would be denied entrance or Escorted out if I took my mask off once I was inside. They seem to enforce "no shirt, no shoes, no service". I imagine if someone ( male or female ) tried to enter, shop, or checkout without a top on, it would be enforced quickly, or at least their membership Suspended after they went through the check out, since you would have their information to confirm who they are and a video record of the person since, all activity is recorded. Seems easy to enforce a mask if they wanted to find a way to protect everyone. Wear a mask or leave, should be the policy for everyone who shops at Sam's. read more

Diesel buyers BEWARE!! My husband filled up at this Sam's Club on 3/26/22 with just over $200 worth of diesel. Within 5 hours, the check engine light came on, and stayed on for the drive back to DFW the following day. With this being the weekend, we took it in to the diesel shop we have taken several of our work rigs to on 3/28. After taking a fuel sample, it was reported the fuel had been diluted severely with water. This has in turn caused major damage, and major expenses. Here's looking at you Sam's Club! Let me know where I can send this bill for repairs since you don't care enough to contact us back about the issue. read more

I ordered an item from the Sam's Club website to be delivered to this location. I was unable to pick it up because they gave it to someone else. That wouldn't have been a big deal had they not went ahead and charged my credit card for something I didn't receive. I requested assistance via Sam's Club customer service. They twice contacted this location on my behalf and were twice ignored. Meanwhile, the invalid charge remains on my credit card account. read more

Do not go to this store if you need help from a worker. They are ghetto and unprofessional. I had to address Oralia in the jewelry department and the store manager about the ghettoness I encountered. I didn't even get so much as an apology for her talking to me disrespectfully. Can't wait to see her again in person when I have time to properly address her attitude. read more
