Now, I'm not a big fan of this kind of place, my sister used to drag me to Habitat all the time and it fostered nothing but resentment in my soul for scented candles and picture frames. That is not to say that this place is not bad at what it does. It seems to be quite cheap to me but that being said I don't buy this kinda stuff all that often. There were an awful lot of signs up that said the likes of '50% off' or 'Sale' so I think this the kind of place you could go to get a bargain. Also, the staff were dead on enough when I called in here. They were friendly and polite without being too pushy or in your face.

Au Naturele certainly won't burn a hole in your pocket and you may even come away with a bargain or two. A nice place to pick up some fancy soaps or candles for your mum or aunt.

However on entering other Warehouse stores in mainland UK it is obvious to see that Northern Irish stores lack some key lines and products. The store is always well kept with a close eye being kept on mannequin fashion and product placement. The sales in warehouse are brilliant especially of you've had your eye on something for a while. Summer sales see old Winter stock also being brought out so its worth taking a peek for classic summer dresses or winter woollies!

One of the best 'outside' (ie as opposed to in shopping centre) shops in Ballymena for a great…read morevariety of goods. Downstairs, you can buy anything from sweets and toiletries to handbags, toasters and artificial flowers! Pop upstairs and you can browse through a good selection of furniture, lighting, pictures and more! Only downside is if you have young children with you, there is no public lift, so you either have to ask someone to mind the buggy and carry your youngster upstairs or give upstairs a miss. Their seasonal department towards the rear of the groundfloor changes from gardening in the spring/summer to halloween/christmas in autumn/winter. Always loads of choice no matter what you are looking to buy.

I had never been in nor heard of this fabulous little shop until today…read more I took myself out on a stroll in the glamorous Lisburn Road (I don't remember it being that glamorous many years ago when I was crawling home in the early hours with half a kebab all over my beck and several drunken students singing the the best of Take That!) The housing in this area is expensive and this attracts a well to do lot to the area. With well to do ladies comes lovely expensive clothing that they want to sell. And so Deja Vu was born. The shop works by a client leaving in a high end piece of clothing, shoes or accessories and then the shop sells it for them for 50% of the price. There are loads of beautiful tops, dresses and skirts from really posh designers - gorgeous. It's like a second hand shop with a difference. They also stock mother of the bride/groom outfits that have only been worn once, originally cost hundreds, even thousands and are in perfect condition. I wish I had have had more time to browse but I didn't - the woman who runs this place is the best sales assistant I have come across yet - lovely to chat to, no pressure, takes time, points out bargains and really seems to want to help. I'm sitting here wanting to go back for another look about. Great!

Selling pre-worn designer (and not so well known, ahem, designer) ladies clothes, this place is a treasure trove of joy, often with quite unusual and rare pieces, perfect for when you don't want to turn up to your posh do with someone else in the same frock! That's what I love about here- the individuality. Super reasonable pricing too for what you get. They do turn around a good lot of clothes here and as they are second hand they may not have a huge variety of sizes, so if you see something you like don't dwell on it, just buy or it will be gone!

It has all the latest consoles and new release games. As it is one of the smaller Game stores though, it doesn't have as big a range as other stores, especially in the pre-owned section. The staff are friendly and helpful enough, with one fellow particulary helpful when we were looking to get the console package we wanted. In saying that I've also been there when one of the more senior members of staff was too busy chatting to a buddy to help us when we needed assistance. Needless to say we went elsewhere.

I first got to know the Office chain in London and it's always maintained the same standard of edgy trendiness combined with mixed quality. Also their stock in Belfast is pretty much on a par with London, so there's some comfort in the knowledge that we are not in a complete backwater over here. Some of the shoes not of the best manufacture and consequently passing fashion triumphs over comfort, but there is a balance of shoes and boots that are a cut above that. However, despite the vagaries I seem to end up buying something here just about every year. You have to keep an eye on this shop because sometimes I think the better stuff sells out quickly. In general Office is quite good - though the choice is probably better for women than for men.

Built in the "Schuh" mould Office is still a little bit on the expensive side. You can often find shoes they sell directly from the maker or website for a whole lot cheaper. But one thing that weighs heavily in Office's favour is that when it puts on sales it is well worth being first in line as they really do slash their prices. I got a lovely pair of Fred Perry plimsolls at 50% off but the amazing thing is that other shops were still selling the exact same shoes at full price. All in all Office is the place to go if you want a quality pair of shoes or are not sure what you want. But my advice would be to be on the look out for an Office sale.

Margaret's reason for survival is that it sells every school uniform a child in North Belfast would need and at a very reasonable price. When I was a kid, attending the local school's this was always the place we'd travel to in that dreaded last two weeks of summer in order to get dolled up for the new school year. The lady was always friendly and shared my mums passion for clothes that I would (I presume my mum thought I was a giant) grow into.
