We ended up coming here twice in our short stay on Sylt. How lucky were we to find this place first before actually going to S....bar! That place is so over-hyped and crap! This place on the other hand is truly stand-out good. We came once for dessert and coffee plus once for dinner. I highly recommend reserving a table if you want to come for dinner as it gets full. Further, there are two separate rooms. The back room is a bit quieter and the front room somewhat more lively but this place isn't noisy and annoying like that other place. You have a view of the dune/beach outside from almost all tables. Come around sunset and you get the best "show" through the windows.
Service is impeccable. We had the bald dude with the beard (sorry, didn't catch his name) both days as our waiter. He was super nice, helpful with advice on the menu and very attentive. The way it should be. No arrogance or shi-shi posturing. Just a good guy! The rest of the staff were the same. There's the guy with the slicked back hair who seems to be the manager or the owner and he too was always polite and welcoming. I wasn't expecting this at all but in summary, service was top-notch from start to finish both times we were here.
The food is awesome. We had the chocolate cake the first day and this was a great dessert accompanied by some great wine recommendations. For dinner we both had fish and it was one of the better meals I have had when it comes to seafood. Really like the way their food is prepared and it isn't gourmet restaurant small, i.e. you actually are not hungry after the main course. Again, food too was top-notch and we had zero complaints. I'd recommend going mostly for seafood but it's your typical German, high-end menu with a mix of meat, fish and pasta dishes.
Finally, the parking at this place is far closer to the main entrance. You don't have to trudge up the hill (a small inconvenience but nevertheless) like at the other place and no, there isn't an idiotic VIP shuttle here to ferry the lazy-a$$ posers to their door. The outdoor deck was a bit too cold for our taste this time around but I am sure it is wonderful on warmer days. The beach is a short walk down from the entrance too if you want to combine a beach day and lunch or whatever.
This place is solid and so much more worth your while. Good people, great location and wonderful food. We will be back! read more
