Fashion Outlet

Ah, so that's where all those snake skin tunic tops are coming from…read more In a move that's sure to enrage designers and buyers who take good quality clothing seriously, Fashion Outlet delivers their own brand of coture to the masses with incredibly cheap goods. Now, you do get what you pay for here, and most of the fabrics used for their lines of trousers, shirts and suits are of a disappointingly low quality (suffering from the dreaded Three Ms: Man Made Materials). As a silver lining, you won't pay more than €5 or €20 for most of the items on the racks. As a rule I give this shop a miss, but for ladies in the market for black work trousers good for a few months, or an acrylic sweater sure to unravel on the drive home, this is your first (and hopefully last) stop.
I think that while reading these review you should remember that different people have different…read moretastes and different senses of fashion and different opinions on quality versus price. So very different, okay? So with that in mind let me tell you that this shop is one that i do not really frequent and one that when i have gone in i have never ever walked out with a bag in my hand, well not one from that shop anyway! Everything in here is really cheap and not very nice in my opinion. Nothing looks to be particularly well made and the materials that are used are not the type that I normally like to wear at all at all! ( I sound like someone who insists on egyptian cotton bed sheets and the like, im not, i promise!) Anyway, as i said i may be very different from you, the lovely reader, but i have given my honest opinion anyway and sure what else can i do?

As the name suggests this is a shop selling a particular style of clothing: bling, bling and more…read morebling. This shop almost exclusively stocks dresses of the short and shiny variety. And if that's what you're looking for you could do worse. Most of the dresses sell for about 40 euro which means that the blinging look comes fairly cheap, although they probably are dresses that stand out and they might not be the kind of thing that will get more than one wear. Their sizes are of the S/M/L variety so finding one of these dresses to fit you just right is probably more down to luck than anything else. Of more use and adaptability are the top and little bolero cardies that they sell. Some a blingy but not all of them. Certainly a place to swing by if you're looking for a little cardy to go over a dress or going out top.
Dirty Fabulous

I'm seriously shocked this place hasn't been reviewed already! I went here this weekend with a…read morefriend who has started the epic task of finding her wedding dress. Dirty Fabulous has been mentioned a few times as a place to find good vintage clothing, particularly dresses. It's upstarts in one of the georgian buildings on Baggot street, so it's a bit off the beaten track, and I suspect you have to have an appointment - well for wedding dresses you certainly do. We were taken into a room with beautiful things that girls love, but what surprised me was the range of dresses was quite small. The nature of vintage being what it is means that you do have to be lucky to be in the room at the same time as the dress you want. However I found the staff great, they do realise the nature of the search and offer to keep your details and to let you know if anything that you would like does come in. And the dresses are beautiful. You can see these really beautiful different styles from various decades - 50s, 20s, 60s etc. There's also beautiful vintage jewelry and accessories. So if you're a vintage style lover this is definitely a place for you. I do have to say that the staff here really stood out. We had a few appointments that same day and no-one gave us advice anything like the lady in Dirty Fabulous. I think my friend was very tired of mediocre dresses at this point, and she picked her up by telling her not to mind any nonsense people tell her in shops about deadlines. She gave her great advice about trying things on even if they were in the wrong colour or shape to get a better idea of what works and what doesn't. She gave us cards of other shops which might stock dresses that she might also like. She organised us bridesmaids, who were flailing about uselessly, by designating a note-taker and talking about mailing lists. And all of it was done in a gentle, understanding way which made us all warm to her, and agree we would certainly recommend the place. She said to us as we were leaving "always remember to eat between every appointment and have a glass of wine with lunch".... after a footsore day with a disappointed bride-to-be the importance of this advice really stands out in my mind!
They'd a nice enough selection - though not for anyone size 12 or above really, which is a shame -…read morebut I was disappointed by how alternatively pushy and dismissive the woman I had my appointment with was. I had clearly stated when I booked that I was looking for wedding accessories and jewellery, but as soon as she established I already had my dress she seemed annoyed I was there. When showing me selections of accessories she pushed hard to sell regardless of whether I seemed interested or comfortable which was dissimilar to most of the bridal appointments I had experienced. I'd be wary of going back again.

Some of the T-shirts are funny or cute and the prices are pretty low without being completely bargain basement. Tops are between 10 and 25 euro or so. Those prices are pretty competitive as the clothes seem to be of reasonable quality. As well as the casual stuff they have a few bits that are a bit dressier, and you could definitely get some cute bargain items here. However catering for men and women in a small shop means their range is limited.

This store stock women's styles mostly for the 25 - 45 age bracket with that casual chic or preppy look. The prices are not cheap but not too outlandish - about 100 euro for a coat, 25 - 40 for a top. They generally stock trend colours and styles without failing into that horrific fashion victim trap. There's a bargain rack at the back that's worth a look.

It's a little more expensive that Zara and H&M but the clothes are also a slightly better quality. They have great jumpers and tops and their jeans are a good shape too.
