He told me within 5 minutes that I needed a new inverter. He was upfront about the price, so I give him credit for that. He gave me an estimate of $750 for the parts + labor. I asked him how much the part was and he said somewhere near $350 and that they charge roughly an equal amount for labor. He spent about 20 minutes replacing the inverter and got the refrigerator working. I paid $750. My issue is two-fold: 1. The part is available at various stores for $120 - $200. Jason, from AMPM, replied immediately, and we scheduled a visit for later in the afternoon. I asked for a call 30 minutes before the tech was to arrive, and got one, exactly on time, from Boris, who turned out to be a delightful conversationalist as well as a skilled repair technician. We have an unusual stacked laundry installation, so I had prepared for the visit by locating the parts and a cart ahead of time, which Boris appreciated. I also helped by running to shut off circuit breakers, dispose of clumps of lint, etc. An hour later, our dryer was back reassembled and working, squeak-free, and empty of the lint that had caused the problem. Very nice! The visit was a little pricier than quoted by the other place, but since they never followed up, and Boris and AMPM handled the work instantly, it was worth it.
