I was a little hesitant to go here after reading some of the reviews, but I'm really glad I did. The instructor was extremely pleasant and made me laugh during my exam. My worst nightmare came true and we hit a traffic jam on the freeway and I had to maneuver around the other cars in a quick moment. I apologized profusely for my city driving in which the instructor told me not to apologize, that sometimes you have to do what you gotta do. You're not leaving the parking lot unless you pass the parking, which to be fair was extremely easy. The parallel parking doesn't have to be perfect, just inside the lines and don't hit cones. After my test I asked if there was anything I could work on and my instructor said that I knew how to drive and she just stared out the window most of the time. The instructor was very sarcastic to my son, several times making conflicting comments which was confusing. Same day road test Grand Blanc center is an aweful place. Do not train or test here. The teaching is wrong. Teaching Teens to be aggressive in driving and hitting 0 to speed limit as soon as possibl. Also, teaching Teens to make wide turns on right turn. Horrible My Teens road test was cancelled less than 24 hours to go last week on the day of test this week, the instructor came 40 minutes late. He was an angry old man. He was very rude, no apologies. He started bullying and harrassing the Teen immediately saying he does automatic failures He failed her immediately saying she's not moving above speed limit within few seconds from entering the road. The driving skills test is a joke. It's in the itty bitty parking lot where there's a driveway at both ends. First you must simulate a stop at a red light then immediately make a t-turn. Once you finished with that you turn right immediately and go right into the parallel parking and you do not have space to straighten out or get into proper position to back your vehicle into the space. And that's mention the space it is a lot narrower than a average parking spot that you would try to back into to begin with I don't even think that the parallel parking space is even regulation. I sincerely wish there were a 0 rating option because that's what they deserve! Reading the reviews, now I know our road-test experience at the Rochester Hills office was actually widely shared. Indeed, we tried them twice over the summer, largely due to its proximity and its relative straightforwardness in booking a test, but it has turned out to be such a total scam tricking people into paying more by failing you again and again for greed and profits. They could fail you for using back-up camera in the car during parking (Genie). They could fail you for slowing down in a school zone (the male instructor who must be feeling so miserable working there with his big scowl and frown). They could fail you for slowing down when switching into the left-turning lane because you were cut off by two delinquent cars behind you (again that sullen-faced guy). Worst road test place ever!!! What a waste of time and money for all the innocent and gullible customers!!! The people working there must be so truly unhappy that they seem to genuinely hate the customers who are there to provide them with job opportunities. Rather than being grateful, they just predate on their customers who they think are so dependent on their mercy for getting a driver's license. My son had a horrible experience with this company. The lady assigned to us for his test (red hair, at the Lakeside Mall location) was rude and intimidating. She made him so uncomfortable, he was a nervous wreck by the time he started his test. When he made a mistake on parking, she said "I don't know why he keeps doing that, when it's wrong". She had a snarky comment for everything - we had a paper driving log printed out and she commented that we should have just pulled up the app. I rolled down my window to talk to her and she rudely said "I'll talk to your son, he's the driver". My son had all of his paperwork in a folder, and attempted to hand her the folder and she said "I don't take folders, I take paperwork." She was annoyed that I had made a copy of my registration and insurance, and acted like I should have known that she needed an original registration (which I also had, I was just trying to make it easier by giving her the copies in case she needed to keep anything). She seemed to take joy in the fact that she failed the kid before us, which she told us about. That person was practicing in another area of the parking lot after they failed their test and she commented that "That won't even help them" while smiling. I have heard the same feedback about this woman from other parents of kids who have gone here. I hardly ever write reviews but felt the need to write this because I wouldn't want other teens to have the same experience. I see many other posts about this same lady and the way she treats driving students, it's a shame this company is allowing her to stay employed and continue treating their customers this way. Canton Location. DO NOT TEST HERE! If you have a young kid trying to get their license avoid this place. They should be called "30 Second Parking Lot test" instead. They will take your child to the back of the lot first and do a parallel park test and parking test. If they hit the cones at all they will not pass them or do a drive with them. I wish I could say that we had a great experience with Same Day Road Test in Rochester, but that is far from the case. I've read on other locations that SDRT is a "fail fast" company, since they don't make money by passing students, but rather doing as many tests as possible in the shortest amount of time. This matched our experience - the "test" was about 10 minutes. We had a very poor instructor. She started off by removing decals from my vehicle without my consent and got snippy when I questioned her about it. At one point later in the 10 minute test I was accused of cheating (while standing outside the vehicle and she was monitoring the current exercise). She then ended the test directly after that interaction, which I suspect was influenced by our previous one concerning the decal. We have already booked with a competitor and will direct our friends and family to avoid at all costs. read more

I was hesitant to come here but it was the only area with open road test slots for this summer. I should have known that there is a reason for that and should have checked the reviews beforehand. I do not usually fight back against defeat and I can accept when I have done wrong, but truly as others have said, this is a fail-first company. Do not come here. I have been driving for well over three years on the road, including highways and parking, however my car is incredibly beat up and after trying to get it fixed for too long, I just caved and rented a car for this test. The total cost of the test was 124$. They told us to come 15 minutes early for "signing", made it seem as if they needed us to sign multiple long documents. Basically said that if we did not, we would have our appointment canceled, no refund. I came in early, at 12:40PM. All she had me do was make two signatures and look at my state ID. My appointment was set for 1PM, the instructor did not come until 1:15PM. The instructor herself had a very soft voice and seemed okay. We got into this car, I started it up, adjusted it and all. She told me to head to the back to this parking area. Measured the cones to the car good. The parking lot was bad, it was bumpy and hilly, and I was in a new car, but I could handle it. I couldn't understand her verbal directions that well but I did not think too hard of it. I did the front parking as normal. I was a bit confused by the horn bit but I did it and she told me to move forward, I'm not on the line. I did so. Note that these cones are not following the yellow lines on the parking lot. I come to the reverse parking bit. I did a little mistake, I admit. I moved forward to reverse better, and then reversed to the parking lot. Again, she told me I need to move further down. I tell her that I believe I'm good. She tells me that I need to move further down. I'm confused because I am certain there are cones behind me, and I don't want to hit them. I know I can't look out the car window. I ask her if there are cones behind me. She suddenly hits me with "I am not allowed to tell you anything." I'm confused. I ask her, "Then why did you tell me to move further down?". She tells me, "I'm only supposed to tell you if you are not in the right place. You were supposed to learn this with an instructor". Okay... I ask her, "Well, do I just follow the yellow lines?". She nods. I genuinely knew that this shouldn't have been the case, because the cones themselves did not follow the lines, but I couldn't find out any other reason for her to tell me to keep backing up. I back up. I hit the cones. I knew I would but she literally kept telling me to back up so of course I would. I told her that I'm sorry but there seems to be some miscommunication here, and I just need more information because she's not making sense. She keeps repeating to me after that, "I am not supposed to be helping you. I cannot tell you anything.". Okay, sure, then why did you keep telling me to back up?! After the whole reversal issue, I asked her if I could just read the instructions myself for the parallel parking because I clearly was having communication issues with her and did not want to mess up the parallel parking either. After she gives me the instructions for me to read, she tells me that she is not supposed to even be doing that and that this isn't allowed. Okay... so why did you say that AFTER giving me the instructions to read? I did the parallel normally but I was so anxious at that point that I ended up doing it a bit clunky. But I did it, it was fine. She tells me to park back to the place we started. This whole "test" was only about 8 minutes in total. She says I failed the parking part and cannot continue. I am genuinely so distraught because, again, the whole issue was because of her verbal instructions. I tell her there was a major miscommunication, she told me to back up. She suddenly says that she never said that. She is literally playing in my face and I want to genuinely cry because I spent so much money on this. I tell her if I can at least get 50$ back for the car rental because I didn't even get on the road. She doesn't even answer me and emphasizes to me that I can pay again and redo the test tomorrow. I'm realizing at this point that this whole thing is an outright scam. She's trying to get me to pay again for a second test because I "failed" the first. I walked out of the car, 124$ out and a waste of two hours. There is a reason that this company always has open slots. They do not expect, and will literally orchestrate failings, to fit in time slots. Your entire fate literally relies on whether or not they want to actually do the road test during your time slot. My fiance scheduled and appointment at the Same Day Driving School to get his only do the Driving part of the test for his license he wad to be there at 10:30 he gets there and they said his appointment was 9:30 am and he has to reschedule and pay again. My son had his road test this morning at the Sterling Heights location. I normally do not write reviews, but his experience with the instructor was horrible. We had a 8 am appointment. When we arrived for at 7:33 am, we saw the previous person was still in the middle of the parking section. Since I was in a walking boot my son dropped me off at the curb, then proceeded to park near by. At which time we were yelled at to get out of the testing area. We then returned to the testing area at 7:45 am. The previous person was still on the road test. We waited until 8:14 am for the instructor to start the test. She instructed my son to move the car to specific spot with no instruction regarding opening the windows. Then with hand gestures only, she attempted to guide him into the correct position. When we opened the windows, she made the comment "now you open the windows". My son proceeded to hand her the needed documents. She noticed that the registration was expired. But since the tabs were current she allowed him to continue. She also asked me twice if I had an account with Secretary of State because my husband was listed on the registration. I informed her that both names were on the title. She then a small issue with the taillight saying that it was weird. It seem to go downhill after that. Ending in the road test being cut short. They were back at the lot 8:40 am. She told my son that it was her job to make sure he was a safe driver. While she was still belittling my son, a father and his daughter walked up to the test area. The instrustor then demanded that my son lower the driver's side window. She then proceed to rudely yell at the father to stop interupting the test and to leave the testing area. My son was so upset that he was unable to drive home safely. Since I had the walking boot on my right foot, I had to call my husband to bring me a pair of supportive shoes so I could drive home. When we got home I checked the reviews on yelp and with the Better Business Bureau. Both of them had this company listed with a 1.3 star rating. read more

My child did mess up and did fail, that was on them, however the way the instructor explained it was unprofessional and unacceptable. They should be ashamed of themselves for being open. Lisa was a horrible person and in the end yelled at me that my daughter was horrible driver because she could not change lanes.
