There are a ton of hair salons down here, and I wanted to find the perfect one to refresh my faux-natural redhead color and cleanup the overgrown, dried out ends of my long locks without taking too much off. I hate telling a stylist what to do since they're technically the expert and know best what would work or make suggestions, so really like to share my thoughts and let them go from there, with a lot of: "whatever you think would be best..." responses. So after educating myself about the salons in the area and reading as many reviews as I could find (raving about Hair Affinity & the talented ladies behind the chairs there...) I decided to call and make an appointment for a color, gloss, cut and blow dry They knew I was a new client, and asked a few questions about my hair type (length/thickness) [which I thought was great to inquire about prior to my initial appointment, since my hair is long & thick and takes more time to manage than thinner/shorter hair from a scheduling perspective] and made an appointment for the following week with Cassidy (who's name I recognized from all the positive reviews I had had read.) I throughly enjoyed my entire experience the day of my appointment, Cassidy is fantastic!! So friendly, professional and knowledgeable - she made sure she understood my vision and did an AMAZING job executing the most perfect pumpkin spice/ginger color tone, explaining the entire process so I knew what was happening and gave me the perfect cut/reshaping the angles, adding some long layers, while keeping my hair super long. It looks soooo good & healthy!!! The price point was comparable with what I had been paying at the previous salon & you get a little new client gift after you've paid, which came in handy to use the following weekend when I was in Sturbridge getting ready for a wedding and needed hairspray that still left my hair flexible. I cannot wait to make my next appointment! **one thing I would note is to bring cash/check for tip as you cannot add gratuity onto your credit card slip. There is an ATM up the road towards downtown Chatham if you forget.**

Having seen Heather's Hairport along Main Street for years, I was happy to come across their website and see that they offer a very reasonably priced gentlemen's haircut. It was easy to book an appointment (they are open late weekdays) after work with Wendy. Wendy was prompt, professional, friendly, and did a great job with my cut. She asked good questions about how I styled my hair and liked it cut, without feeling like I had to give step-by-step instructional, as is often the case when getting a cut with a new person. I trusted her quiet confidence right away. In about a half hour, I walked out with a great haircut and I will definitely be back to Wendy and Heather's Hairport.

I wish there was a way to leave zero stars for Heather's Hairport. I have been to Heather's several…read moretimes in the last couple years. Each time I left somewhat disappointed. This time, however, I left extremely disappointed. I've included the whole experience below, but if you're just interested in a summary, this is it. I will never return to Heather's and I don't suggest anyone else goes there either. I understand the price of doing business, but the people there were rude, not transparent about tipping and charged us for services that were not rendered, showing me that Heather's has no integrity. I came to Heather's with a group of girls the day before my wedding and we spent almost $1,000. They asked me to sign a contract and put down a deposit, which I agreed very willingly. Outside of the contract, I was asked to complete a form indicating the services the girls wanted. As you may understand, there are a million logistics when that come into play when planning a wedding and, as no surprise to anyone, the girls had a couple changes ("I don't want gel polish anymore, I want regular", etc.). When I was greeted at the salon, Jonathan was not friendly and didn't say congratulations. He knew what we were there for and I was wearing a shirt that said "Bride" in big black letters. While I was getting my nails done, a couple people indicated to their nail technician that they no longer wanted some of the services they had initially asked for. Jonathan came upstairs while I was getting my pedicure and rudely remarked "You know you are going to have to pay for the services even if they don't get them, right?" I asked for a copy of the contract so I could understand remind myself of what I was working with. Also, while I was having my nails done, one of the technicians came upstairs to complain about a lady getting their nails done downstairs basically saying they were a mess. Come to find out, when I went downstairs, she was doing my grandmother's nails. She was talking about my own grandmother - the day before my wedding - completely unprofessional. What was supposed to be a relaxing manicure and pedicure the day before I was getting married was completely un-enjoyable. I felt terrible making girls pay for services they didn't receive, as committing to being in a wedding party is already expensive enough (also $42 for a gel manicure is a little steep in my opinion - it doesn't even cost that much in Boston). Then, several girls tipped their technician. I had asked the girls to do so because I figured it was easier logistically. When I went to pay for the full group, I was told that I would have to tip 20% on my card. This was not in the contract I signed and was not verbally communicated to me. My bridesmaids had left very generous tips, only to find out they would have to pay for this twice. Additionally, one girl changed her selection from gel to regular polish. Even though regular polish takes less time for the salon, we were charged for gel because it was on the contract. My mom, who is a year-round local and works at a venue that does many weddings, tried to rectify the situation by calling the salon to discuss our experience. On three separate occasions, Jonathan said he would call her back and didn't. Heather would also not return my mom's phone calls and my mother only received a response when she emailed her directly. Her responses mirrored how we were treated at her salon, she was not empathetic and displayed that she blatantly didn't care about customer experience at all.

I stopped in to inquire about getting a haircut and received a warm welcome by the owner Michelle. I was impressed by the spacious layout, the modern lighting, and comfortable feeling of the salon. I asked for appointment for a men's cut & color. As luck had it she had a last minute cancellation for later that morning. I did a few errands and went back for my appointment. I was in and out for a men's color & haircut in just under 30 minutes. The color looked great and more importantly my family and friends noticed the difference. That was impressive being I have had the same stylist from a Newbury St. Boston Salon for the last 30 years. I was sharing with Michelle at my 2nd appointment how my family and friends all noticed the change and how they loved my new look. Come to find out Michelle had worked on Newbury St. for over 15 years prior to coming down to East Harwich. Newbury St. creativity and styling on the Cape for a lot less $$ than Newbury St. Boston. I am so glad I found this hidden gem of a salon. Definitely a must if you can get an appointment
