I am an American, and I'm addicted to my hair tools…read more No - I refuse to be ashamed! I use a hair dryer and flat iron at least a couple of days per week because I have a thick, wild mane and despite it being straight, it's often unruly... unless there's a good amount of deliberate intervention. And because I'd prefer to use hair appliances that actually work to their full potential, I skipped buying a 'dual voltage' flat iron while still in the States and instead opted to purchase one in France. If you think about the math, it works out: 35 EUR for an appliance that you'll actually own for future trips to Europe vs. a single blowout at the same cost. Convinced yet? Actually en route to the Monoprix in search of said flat iron, I noticed Cyra Lydo and decided to stop in. And I'm glad I did: I had at least a dozen flat irons to choose from... everything from travel-size Babyliss irons selling for 25 EUR to high-end heat tools. I picked a mid-range appliance and was quickly on my way. Result = good hair days throughout the duration of my trip, save for the day I was drenched in unexpected downpour. Tip for American travelers: Don't forget that the maximum temperature is expressed in Celsius vs. Fahrenheit!

It's €10 for 6 (great price!) and they were surprisingly large and flavorful. I also ordered an espresso martini, the perfect combo of caffeine and alcohol, killing two birds with one stone! Hehe... The staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this spot for lunch and I'll definitely be back for dinner next time I'm in Paris!

Unfortunately, it was too early for the tartare as they only serve that during lunch/dinner hours. So we ordered an onion soup, a dozen snails, and a cheese plate. The onion soup was really good. The cheese was nice and melty and slightly charred in some spots. I shared this with my husband but I probably could have eaten two of these on my own. The snails were great as well. But I feel like 12 is a little too much for two people, but 6 wouldn't be enough. For the cheese plate, I don't remember what was on it but I remember not liking the harder cheeses and really liking the gorgonzola. I wish we found out about this place sooner so we could have tried a proper meal. If anyone gets a chance to try the beef tartare, let me know!

I've referred multiple people here and everyone loved the experience. This was my third, but certainly not final visit to the legendary Robert et Louise. I'm now rocking their merch. You know what it is, gang-gang. Cuisine: 5/5. Fromage? Steak? Whiskey. Wine. Dessert. All these basics are done exceptionally well, superb, you might say. Beverages: 5/5. Ask the staff for a pairing of whiskey or wine with your meal and enjoy the ride. Service/Ambiance: 5/5. Make a reservation. Yes, make a reservation. Sit at the bar or take whatever they have available if you happen to "drop in." Be cool. The legendary OG Anthony Bourdain dug this place, so don't be a demanding American. Buen provecho.

One couple even tried to reserve a table for later in the week, only to be told there were no openings at all. When I mentioned my surprise to the bartender, he smiled and explained that Anthony Bourdain had featured Robert et Louise on his show, which brought them international fame. I had no idea when I walked in--it was pure luck. Fame aside, it's easy to see why the restaurant remains so beloved: the food is simple, rustic, and outstanding. I started with escargot, followed by a perfectly cooked steak with roasted potatoes and a crisp green salad. The true test of a great restaurant is how well it executes the basics--and here, they were exceptional. Tip: make a reservation in advance. This place fills up fast for good reason.

A friend recommended this place to me for a nice dinner for my last night in Paris…read more It is a chain but known for serving only one dish: steak frites. Everyone gets the same food: salad and then the steak and fries. The server will ask how you want your meat cooked though. The salad was served first. Again, everyone gets the same kind. And then the steak-frites. The server even came around with second servings! I'm not sure of the price since my companion paid. Get there early. The place gets super busy and has a long line, so come hungry and be prepared to wait. Bring an umbrella if it's raining, it gets cold! I liked this spot, but they do give a bit of attitude to Americans, lol. When I asked for my steak well done, the waiter gave me a look and said something in French I didn't understand... hence the minus one star. I think they eat steak rare to medium rare so well done was definitely a judged choice but I didn't care, I will choose what makes me happy (so travelers just be aware of that). They don't give you a menu or explain what's happening, hence deducted another star. It's basically steak and fries, so i went with that. The steak and fries were so decent, and that green sauce was good and the wine I paired it with was good as well. I also had their dessert (profiteroles, I believe it's called, it's little pastry puffs with ice cream inside topped with chocolate), and after a long day of traveling from Oxford to Paris, I was hungry and it was a good indulgence overall. The spot has a classic Paris vibe and solid food overall minus the attitude lol. Would go back and recommend folks try it just for the experience
