**** Review 159 **** This is definitely your local "whole in the wall" type of bar, but with delicious food. Great staff, and they know all their regulars by name. The Big-Tex Burger was super tasty! It was a huge burger and came with 2 sides. Can't beat great drinks, fund atmosphere, and reasonable prices.

My friend and I had a GREAT night out at Salty J's! Such friendly and incredible wait staff! The food was well prepared and delicious. There were tv's with sports playing, great music, and great new place to spend an evening! We'll be back for sure!

How come you don't have a GD working phone number for your customers to call and notify you that the food order I just placed is ucked up, and wrong. And apparently If you order food from the ordering option online under their Google site, you won't in fact be ordering any food. They use a company called Chow now that will take your personal information and credit card information and charge you, but won't send the order to the restaurant. Apparently the owner is a loser and won't take time out of his busy day to fix this problem even though it's happened to numerous customers. Imagine ordering food and then getting there just to have them tell you that the order didn't go through, having to wait for them to make another order, bring it all the way home just to find out that they fucked up the order anyways. What the fuck. I swear these bar owners are dumb fn drunks that should never own businesses. Money really can buy you anything... All it was was nachos with chicken and they didn't even put the chicken on it. In the nachos were cold and basic AF. How do you f that up. The douchebag that overlooked the main ingredient in the kitchen. That's how. Here's your review. I'll post it on the rest of the review sites as well until you get this shit fixed. I'm tired of these douchebags who are just absolutely terrible at what they do. I've worked in the bar and restaurant industry in the past.. So many losers.

I apologize for the horrible pictures. Not sure what happened with that on this night, but I do know what happened IRL (In Real Life). I bagged a tourney at Derby Lane and needed some food. I don't eat much on poker trips. I searched for a burger place and found Salty J's. It's in the middle of a small strip mall and I wasn't expecting much, but it was the joint. The Joint = a place with good food that you find cool and where you also feel relaxed. I took a seat at the bar to order some food and a Red Bull, ended up in a poker conversation, and then ate a kick-ass burger and fries. Well ... I ate the burger during the poker conversation, but I chewed with my mouth closed (99% sure). Either way, I don't refer to many burgers as kick-ass. Same goes for the fries. Excellent food. In addition to the food, it's a spotless open-air bar with great music, friendly service, and regulars that will make you feel at home. And it's not all regulars. Put simply, everyone here seems happy. That alone makes it a quality destination. Highly recommended in all aspects.

Salty J's is my favorite local spot to head after work! The atmosphere is always so much fun and the food is amazing! Hands down my favorite thing to get here is the nachos. They are HUGE and delicious and I get at least 2 meals out of it. Another favorite is their wings. The bartenders are always amazing and we love sitting at the outside bar. Parking is very spare and this place gets packed on weekends so keep that in mind. We love coming to this little "hole in the wall neighborhood bar"! Oh and they are also available for takeout/delivery!

Awesome dive on 4th Street. Such a kind waitstaff who pour fantastic drinks, good food and amazing prices. Plenty of TVs if you want to watch sports and their WiFi works great. I stopped by on trivia night recently which was a ton of fun. I can't wait to go back here soon and meet some fantastic new friends! I highly recommend their boneless wings and a big ass basket of fries. You won't be disappointed.

The best neighborhood bar on 4th!! Great food, cheap drinks and wonderful service! Make sure you stop in if you are in the area. Lots of tv's to watch sports as well.

If you want a bar without all the craziness, this is it. Not to small not to big but has excellent service. The food, wow way better than bar food. We order to go a lot also. Worth the try for sure

Great experience with a twist!…read more Food 8.0 Vibe 8.9 Service 8.7 Overall 8.4 This place definitely has his own theme and vibe and it sticks to it. A straightforward menu gives a decent variety and the chef delivered on the flavor. We had the egg Benedict the Gudda grits, and the (not so) French toast. Overall, the food was delicious, but I was extremely disappointed with the "French toast" for some reason, the chef opted for not doing an egg/milk bath for their French toast, which to me is a grave mistake, who wants to dry French toast? This liberty could be excused, and tolerable for the sake of creativity and innovation, IF it was openly, shared on the menu, or by the server. However, this came to a COMPLETE surprise to me AFTER ordering and receiving it. I've never had DRY French toast, nor do I ever wish to again despite the tasty toppings and well executed cinnamon butter cream, it was still not an enjoyable experience, especially if you're expecting classic French toast. That said the eggs Benedict was phenomenal. The pork is perfectly cooked. The biscuits are light and fluffy. And the sauce was immaculate. The Gudda grits surprise me while not being creamy in the same way of grit, I've had in the past, these retained their grit structure, but it kind of melted in your mouth, providing that creamy texture and they add chopped bacon and a sweet I would guess type of reduction in just the right amount to balance the flavor of the Gudda. I do wish they had sausage and hash browns. But it's not that kind of place. My last complaint would be in the potatoes that come with the Benedict. Whatever other option, they have picked those get anything, but those ours came undercooked, and they refried them for us, and they still were just below average which for a place like this. I expected more. Overall, not a bad place. The coffee was phenomenal. I had a dirty Matcha, and it was perfectly executed. Prices aren't terrible for what you'd expect from downtown St Pete at a fancy place, so I was happy. Service was good and friendly. After I expressed my dissatisfaction with the French toast, the manager came over and offered his apologies and remove the item from my bill, even offered to bring us something else, and to have a beverage to go to make up for it. However, I was at the end of our mail and I was ready to get going with the rest of my day, so I said thank you and we departed. Overall, I will not come back for French toast but that eggs Benedict. I would definitely come back and try something else as well. Give it a shot. Just DONT get the French toast. If you like normal French toast.

Well-versed on the menu and a very pleasant lady. It's certainly not a fancy place and it looks like it's been around for a while, but it's the kind of place where you might like to hang out at the bar. Everyone there seems to be friendly and you get that comfortable feeling. We had a variety of food items, some better than others but nothing below average. Really good salads, as you can see by the pictures, a nice job on the chicken wings, a BLT that was pretty tasty; the butternut squash soup was OK, pretty thick and not hot at all. One was returned to the kitchen to be heated up. There was a chicken dip that really didn't hit the spot, and the tortilla chips that came with it seem to be past their prime. As for the fried mushrooms. I found them pretty much ordinary. A nice surprise were the brussels sprouts with balsamic and goat cheese. Really really good. Overall, I would give the food about a 3 1/2 stars at the service five stars so what averages out around four stars. Like I said it looks like a nice place to hang around and have a couple of beverages and a little something to eat.
