When you walk in, it seems really German. Kind of like walking into a British Pub, but you feel like you're in a typical German establishment. So that was kind of fun. We ended up ordering a bottle of Chianti. I had the Wienerschnitzel with green pepper sauce and my partner got a salami and gorgonzola pizza. The food was really tasty. The schnitzel was really tender and crispy, and the sauce was really peppery and delicious. I enjoyed the chips and salad too. The pizza was good as well. The only small issue was the service was kind of crappy. I hear that's the way it is in Germany, but I kind of expect a bit more. Also the door to the back smoking room was open, so every once in awhile you could smell smoke wafting past our table. That's not cool either. No one who doesn't smoke wants to smell cigarettes while they are eating. But I imagine if you get a table further to the back of the building, away from the room, you'll have better luck with that.

I have eaten there on many occasions and I have not been disappointed with the food or the coffee. If you drink tea, as I do, you will be shocked at the way they serve tea here, they obviously have no idea. On two occasions I have been served a glass of water with hot milk in it with a tea-bag on a plate, when I explained how to serve the tea properly the waitress seemed unhappy that I mentioned it and did not offer a replacement. I have had at least 3 waitresses serving me there. One was very nice indeed, helpful and friendly, one was very unfriendly and the other only smiled when she got a tip. I like friendly and helpful service and always give a tip (even when they don't write a large hint on the receipt) I would have given 4 points if it wasn't for the sour service on the last two occasions.

Both fresh made and pretty good (I had a turkey-something-bagel with avocado and my friend had one with mozzarella), coffee's also. There are lots of things on the menu, the prices are more than alright, A Friedrichshain-classic - it's a bargain really. Bagels were between 3 and 4 EUR. The service was very nice and there is just nothing to complain about. I guess for a 5/5 I need to go back some time and try more stuff. :)
