We have been asked multiple times how we learned such a complex showstopper dance. I had never really done any sort of dancing before, and we had selected a waltz. Instantly, we were impressed at how effective of a teacher Meg was, making complex movements seem easy. More importantly, she put me at complete ease. Our weekly dance practices ended up being the highlight of our week. She broke down everything into basics and helped create and teach the choreography in chunks. As the weeks progressed, we decided to add more length to the song since we were enjoying it so much. She worked on creating the mix and crafted the additional choreography as well. We then decided to practice with our actual wedding clothes on as well, and we learned limitations two weeks before the wedding date. Meg helped us find professional dance shoes and adapted the choreography to work around those limitations, completely making the song feel comfortable even in the limited movement of the clothing. Throughout these lessons, Meg was extremely flexible in scheduling and often going out of the way to work around our travel. She even helped us book a time slot when the entire studio was empty so that we could practice our dance using the whole space in private. Her and the rest of the instructors were warm, welcoming, and caring. We honestly had such a great time that we are thinking about going back to learn other dances as well.

Your child doesn't have to go through the stress of auditioning. The parts are assigned by the director after a couple of practices. Every child is guaranteed a main part for one show. 2. Although the shows run several weeks, each child only has to attend two shows; one for their lead role and one as an ensemble role, as they believe that children should have experience as a supporting role. 3. The practice schedule is extremely flexible. You only have to attend two weekday or one of the weekend rehearsals. If you can't make your assigned time, no problem! You just go to another practice that week that better fits your schedule. 4. NO FUNDRAISING! It drives me nuts when I pay for an activity and then STILL have to raise money for the organization. It's not even that expensive, compared to other activities my daughter has done. 5. They welcome any child to perform, no matter what their disability or experience. I have seen incredible performances from children who wouldn't otherwise have an opportunity to play a lead role. It warms my heart to watch the shows for this reason. 6. The summer camps are so fun and runs the entire week for the entire day. I don't feel like I have to jump through hoops at work to carve out time to play the taxi driver for a camp that only lasts a few hours during the day. I highly recommend signing up for them as soon as registration opens; they book up quickly and rarely do waiting list kids get in. They're very popular. If I could give them more than five stars I would. I tell all of my friends about this theater. The only downside is that's it's in Naperville, which is not convenient. But my daughter happily hops in the car for the commute, as she loves being there.

Finding a studio that offers a class specifically for special needs individuals is hard to find, but not only is there a class they are part of the competitive dance company. As a mom of a special needs child you always worry that your child won't be accepted or given the same opportunities as a typical child, the staff and other dancers never make my daughter or myself feel un welcomed and the support this special needs group receives is enough to bring tears to your eyes. Going in to the performance, I keptr my expectations in check for my daughter, both in terms of her comfort of being on stage and her playing ability. My expectations for the performances overall were tempered as well. I think I expected children to miss notes and to get off rhythm occasionally. I was so impressed with how polished the bands actually sounded. They were all playing music I really enjoy, and doing it really well. I'm even more excited to see how my daughter progresses going forward, and I'm legitimately looking forward to future performances, simply for the chance to listen to good music played well. Thank you to administrators and the instructors for making School of Rock fun for my daughter and for obviously doing such a good job teaching the children to play music.

I was informed 2 nights ago by a friend that School of Rock abruptly ended their adult program without giving the adult students any notice. I still stand by my positive praise for the teachers. They are great. However this sudden move to end a program that many of us enjoyed and looked forward to without warning is disappointing. This move applies to only 3 locations owned by the same owner. Perhaps there are other SOR facilities that are managed more effectively to accommodate the workload?? I will miss going there and miss the instructors. My experiences with the Elmhurst teachers are nothing less than great. My disappointment with the sudden abandonment of the adult program without any notice remains intact.

Bobby and Julia are excellent instructors who are skilled, friendly and patient with their students. We found these lessons to be a healthy activity to do together as a couple and a lot of fun. The instructors are skilled and constantly finding ways to help us improve our dancing skills. They offer many opportunities to learn with private classes, group classes and awesome parties. I can't believe the transformation in our dancing as a couple. We are thankful we found this gem in our backyard in Orland Park!
