We moved out of the area a while ago and but still drive the distance to continue at this studio. My son (14) and daughter (9) will not even consider going anywhere else. They love it here. The new owner is one of the kindest people I have met. All the teachers have a true love for dance, and it shows in their teaching. This studio focuses on proper technique to avoid injury and create beautiful dancers. The spring recital is the cherry on top. Instead of watching a million individual dances by class level, NWBA puts on an actual ballet. The costumes, sets and lighting is top notch. My kids love feeling part of a show and dancing with other levels. They get a taste of what a professional ballet dancer gets to do. For family and friends in the audience following a ballet story is way more enjoyable than a traditional recital.

NWBA is a family run, caring studio where teachers and students support and encourage thoughtful development and solid ballet technique. My family has been dancing with NWBA since the doors opened in 1985 when I started my ballet journey, I've recommended friends, and now my daughter studies at NWBA from an early age. Of course their children/young adult programs are great, but they also have fantastic Adult Ballet classes where the teachers will actually teach and support you at whatever level you desire. I highly recommend this 5+ star dance studio!

My wife-to-be had little experience with formal dancing as well, so I knew we needed some teaching. I looked around the Internet with the desire to have more personal lessons versus a studio setting. We were so glad to find Michael. We took five lessons with him in preparation of our first dance. He put us at ease, was clear in what he was teaching, honest with criticisms (but nice about it!), and when we weren't dancing just a really down-to-earth, funny guy. We always looked forward to our lessons. He was also so easy to communicate with about setting times for our lessons. I got them as a gift for Valentine's Day and he even created custom 'coupons' I could give to my wife. When the big day came, we were confident and ready for our dance. We got a lot of compliments on our skills (all my family and friends who know me well were pretty surprised). We learned so much! Now whenever we're out at a bar or something we get on the dance floor and actually seem to know what we're doing. What a change! Thank you Michael.

My now husband and I were looking for help with our first dance and wanted to feel confident on our wedding day. Michael was very patient, knowledgeable about his craft, and down to earth. On our wedding day both dances were beautiful:) We truly enjoyed our lessons with Michael before our big day and would highly recommend him!

I initially wanted to sign up for an aerial yoga class, but was prompted to take a "beginner" pole…read moreclass instead because it started sooner. It turned out the class was a Beginner II rather than an intro, and the instructor was more of a demonstrator than a teacher. Despite struggling, I still enjoyed the class enough to sign up for a second session. That session was oversold, as the only pole available had a huge floor flaw that was TAPED over. Over the course of the class, the tape and adhesive became tackier and eventually ruined the shoes I was wearing for the first time. This resulted in my shoes literally sticking to the floor, so I couldn't complete a move and ended up painfully smashing my knees against the edge of the pole base, resulting in bruises on both. Despite being oversold and unsafe, the studio refuses to refund my session fee. I had two credits from signing up for the first session, and I asked for a refund after the 2nd class of the 2nd session. I should have my entire fee refunded, but they took two weeks to write me back and let me know that because the semi-present instructor didn't know I was in pain, they are going to KEEP MY MONEY?!?! The instructor saw me trying to remove the tape and goo from my shoes, but they are literally going to try to weasel out of being accountable with this. They should refund me for my session, replace my shoes, and acknowledge that their studio is UNSAFE, their classes are oversold, and their practices are shady. Really disgusted by the entire experience, it's a shameful way to run a business, and the lack of concern and support is negligent and irresponsible.

Realizing that Drury Lane and Paramount had done their version a few years back and Marriott Theatre had done it a bit before that, I wanted to watch a live version in case I can't make the next big stop in Milwaukee. I watch quite a bit of theatre, both professional and amateur. Not sure why, but until this show -- I wasn't aware of Schaumburg on Stage which has been around since 2016. To my surprise, the quality of the production was similar in quality to other highly acclaimed groups like the District 214 all-district group (which recently did The Wedding Singer). Here were my thoughts on various aspects of the show: Staging: It really surprised me how many sets were used in the show and how they were fully functional. They were designed and painted well and items were hardly reused. They also did a very good job of quickly changing sets to make sure the showtime was kept to a reasonable length. Vocals: Two things I like about this. One is how they kept the complex harmonies -- which worked great in group songs. The overall balance lacked baritone and bass voices, but that's expected with younger actors. I also liked how they did not shy away from the challenge of the very high notes for male or female leads. They could have easily changed the key, but it's great to see them embrace the challenge. Orchestra: A bit smaller, not sure if it's due to space limitations or that's the way the school version is written. A bit more reliant on piano and common woodwind/string instruments than the full version. I did like how they played at a level not to overpower the vocals. Lighting and fog: I liked all the varieties of lights used. Not just in general stage lighting from the top, but also from lights on the side and spotlights. There were quite a bit of variations on lighting, which helped to tell the story. I did not like the excessive use of stage fog though, which tended to linger for more than a single scene. Overall, a great group to watch a show from. It's much better than the typical amateur group and prices are very reasonable. It's also great how they incorporate actors and actresses from all different ages and help them to build interest in theatre. Based on the quality of this performance, I can't wait to watch another show when they get a new digital microphone system.

I spend my hard-earned money here often, and customers like me help keep this business open, keep shows running, and help pay the staff. As the cost of everything keeps rising -- from ticket prices to surcharges to taxes -- we continue spending our dollars because we love the experience. Our money matters. But this weekend was different. Illinois and Wisconsin both reported record-breaking snowfall. From Saturday through early Sunday morning, we had over 11 inches of snow in my area. Roads were dangerous, snowplows couldn't keep up, cars were crashing, and a weather safety advisory was issued telling us not to travel. I'm also handicapped, and my car was completely snowed in along with every local street. Because of this, I reached out to the Improv management team for updates about the Corey Holcomb show nov 30 830pm show to be exact. Nothing was posted on the website, so I emailed explaining my concerns. No one responded. The day of the show, I called and asked to speak to the box office manager. The woman who answered -- a Caucasian manager who introduced herself as Christina -- was extremely rude. She talked over me, refused to hear my concerns, and initially didn't even want to get on the phone. When she finally did, she dismissed everything I said. Despite us getting 11 inches of snow -- the worst since 1951 -- she told me, "We paid Corey to be here, so deal with it. It's winter." I was shocked. Corey has resources, drivers, and support. I don't. I was traveling two and a half hours away, and when I bought my tickets four months ago, nobody -- not me, not her, not Corey -- could have predicted this storm. Instead of empathy, she basically told me my situation was my problem. What hurts most is knowing that I work hard just like everyone else, and these shows are recreational -- we don't have to support them. In an economy where prices are climbing, jobs are disappearing, and people are losing what they have, the bare minimum a business should offer is empathy and understanding. But this management team showed neither. I spend on an average $150 on your watered-down drinks, your overcrowded seating, your uncomfortable arrangements, and food so basic you don't even offer cheese on your tacos. It takes 40 minutes just to get a napkin even on a half-packed night. Yet management acts like customers owe them something, instead of realizing we are the reason they have jobs at all. Ma'am, you should be humble. Positions of authority can disappear in an hour. When you leave your job and spend your own money somewhere, I guarantee you expect to be treated with respect. That's exactly what I deserved when I reached out with a legitimate concern. Management is supposed to know service recovery, to handle issues with tact, professionalism, and care. You showed none of that. You weren't personable, friendly, or empathetic -- and you came across as prejudiced on top of it. When I asked for corporate information, you refused to provide it. So I hope corporate sees this message, because I will make sure people know how their loyal patrons are being treated. A person with your attitude should not be representing this establishment -- you'd be better off packing boxes in a storage facility, somewhere far away from customers you clearly don't respect your brand or those who patronize it at best !
