Fish, chips and mushy peas. Oh yeah! Salt and vinegar is a lovely fish and chip shop that also has a small restaurant (seating area). Its not posh, but the food is excellent. And if you are sitting down to eat you tend to get you food pretty quickly even when there's a big queue for takeaways. For fish and chips shops/restaurants this has got to be the best around locally. It is situated in Fairford Leys village opposite the Chinese and next to the off licence. The fish tastes better than most places I have eaten before and the chips are made from local fresh potatoes and are absolutely delicious and I think much less oily than other places. The place get really busy in the evenings and there is nearly always a queue when I walk past here! Saying that you never have to wait longer than 10mins at the absolute most. Some of the staff are a bit moody but the food makes it well worth a visit. Strangely they even offer delivery option to locals to the village which is amazing if you're feeling particularly lazy! Really lovely fish and chips. Quick service and it is easy to park close by for free. It is situated right in the middle of Fairford Leys centre. There is a takeaway and also some seating as well if you want to eat in. The only letdown is the staff who are quite moody. read more

I have used this shop for years and a while back wrote a good review. However service and food quality has changed a lot in recent months. Some of the staff appear disinterested to the point of rudeness customer service is generally bad. The chips I have had the last few times have either been pale and soggy with oil or dark brown and dry as though they have been heated up from the last service. I would no longer recommend this shop due to the bad customer service and hit and miss food quality. read more
