The chips and salsa are always top tier but what really set this apart what my husband is keto and they had chicharonnes and salsa. I half expected the bagged variety. Service was great and incredibly polite! Tables were well cleaned with almost nothing left to be desired, and the menu was varied with lots of great options! The food was a first time experience as I've never had tacos without cheese before, as well as having them with onions, but I was impressed and tasted very good! The portions were huge with lots of grilled steak and onions in my tacos. They were so good I had to save one for later! The speed was top notch, with 4 dishes out on under 10 minutes, that's faster than a blink of an eye in restaurant terms! My rating would be 4.4, but my mom rated this place 5.0, so that averages out to a 4.75, rounded up is 5.0 I would highly recommend going here for an amazing experience! :) read more

The chips and salsa are homemade as well as everything on their menu. So, minor peeve, nothing to "burn the house down for", but I will do my part to make restaurant service better. As a customer feedback point, maybe, it would be better to just raise the price of menu items instead of breaking with typical services at most food establishments in the area by charging for a lemon. Per the explanation from the one of waiters when asked, lemon prices went up. Hmmm. Imagine Longhorn charging for lemons, or Outback charging for bread. Reading prior reviews here, Salsas even started charging for the chips on the table? Thank God I didn't get that. I take it Lusby is a more well-to-do section of Maryland? So I don't think there is a matter of cost for a consumer in Lusby to be charged like this when eating at a food establishment like Salsas in Lusby. However it may be more of a failed expectation, a misalignment to such consumers. I would say to them it says something about the establishment, something desperate, maybe even a cry for help. My first time there. Was just testing it out. I would suggest, unsolicited, to the owners, instead of charging for lemons and chips (slippery slope says next is water and ice), just raise the price of menu items overall. If the quality of the service is high, and cooks are doing their best to keep the food looking at tasting good, the Lusby demographic I don't think is going to hate. For those that may ask about the meal, how was it? Well it was steamed veggies and shrimp. None of the establishments added seasoning. Nothing Mexican about it. As expected. It was normal. May 2021 update. Although life is still not back to normal we're nearing the end of the pandemic. All the covid rules are still being followed here at salsas. This is still a great place with fast service and tasty food. All of the servers are motivated, friendly and professional. This place is so disappointing. Food has no flavor and everything is cold. There is no difference between an enchalada, a burrito, or a chimichanga. All are soggy apparitions of what they should have been. Beans had no flavor even with "cheese". Nachos had flavorless ground beef on top of stale chips. Attempted due to school fundraiser. Decided to give this establishment a try given the mixed reviews. Service was good and the people friendly; equally important the environment was clean. They served nachos and salsa immediately, which I enjoyed. The nachos were fresh & crispy without being oily. The salasa is more on the thin side but has decent flavor, not spicy but nicely balanced. I had a traditional margarita ($6.50) with salt and it was good...you could taste the alcohol. The Carne Asada dinner was large but the complete meal lacked flavor. The refried beans were the most bland I've ever had and even with salt & pepper added I was unable to eat it. The entree is inexpensive ($12.50)?so I wasn't surprised by the poor quality of beef served. The beef wasn't fatty as described in another review but didn't have a lot of flavor and was pretty tough/stringy. When cut and placed with the fresh avacodo and salas, it wasn't bad. They should consider pricing up and serving a better cut of beef. Regardless, they still need to season their food. I'll give this place another shot based on the chips and margarita. Not sure which entree I'll try but will keep you posted when I return. read more

Salsas is OK Mexican. It's nothing to write home about but we don't have many options down here. The place is usually busy. Chips are good and salsa has the right spice. Meats are mediocre and mostly everything is inconsistent. Tacos are not great. read more

I ordered a taco salad which was supposed to come with some shredded cheese. Didn't come with the shredded cheese I said it's missing may I have it please- Was charged 4.50 extra for a side of queso dip- liquid cheese- Was told because the desser was sent back was taken off the check this queso I didn't order wouldn't be taken off the check, but I never ordered it. Customers shouldn't be charged for something they didn't order, ever. Will be contacting my credit card company to contest that portion of the check and the tip the waiter hovered over me watching me fill out to pressure me. Weird. Won't be back. read more

I'm kind of in the middle for this one, based on the two experiences that I had here. I think they were about three years apart or so, so maybe in between then the chefs changed, or my tolerance for mainland food changed, but the first time I went here, I felt like I had food poisoning. I don't remember what I had, but that night and the two days afterward I just could not eat anything. Ugh I don't even want to think about it. This time though, around December 2019 after Christmas, the food was a lot better than it was before. I only had something small like the queso or something like that... No I had the chorizo queso and that one was really good. I would get it again because that seems to be my favorite kind of queso dip. I didn't try anything else because I was wary of how my stomach would react, but based on my experience this time, I wouldn't mind going again the next time we are in the area. read more

That's a shame that salsas only has 3 stars. I would give it 5. I have been here lots of times and tried many things here. I have never really been disappointed. The employees here have been here a while, this place seems to have a low turnover. The employees are friendly and always remember you. I have never had any bad food here. I'm always sure to get the chiles toreadas, it's not on the menu but it's fried jalapenos and fried adobo peppers with some seasoning. Delicious addition if you like spicy things. Honestly not a big fan of the cheese they use on the chili relleno and the cheese sauces found on various things. It's like a white American cheese, I generally avoid it. That being said, everything here is good and I visit almost once a week. The carnitas are worth trying, and the fajitas are what you would expect. I kind of wish Mexican places in Maryland would offer more authentic foods rather than the Wisconsin Tex mex version. For southern Maryland this is to be expected. For the taco truck SOCAL experience there's some other places around where you can get your fix. That being said, this place is good and I don't see why people dislike it so much. read more

My boyfriend and I are new to the area, and we love trying new restaurants. We rode past this place a few times and we decided to check it out today. The food is very tasty and we received excellent service from all the staff members. Did I mention the prices are fantastic? This is their third day open, and they are going through standard growing pains. With that, I ordered a drink off their menu that they could not serve due to missing one of the ingredients. I got a frozen margarita instead. Low and behold ten minutes later the manager shows up with the drink I originally ordered, on the house! They had dispatched someone to the nearby store to by a bottle rather than let me settle for the second choice! (it should be noted I did not complain in anyway beforehand which makes this all the more amazing). The shrimp tacos are delicious, the Tres compadres is phenomenal as well. This is our second visit and it was just as good as the first time. Tonight we had the Fiesta Guacamole ( was disappointed they did not make it at our table this time) still tasted wonderful. We had Hawaiin Enchilada which was very tasty, chimichangas which my girls loved, shrimp burrito which had some large uncooked onion in it, and some shrimp and pepper dish which was great with many shrimp. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. I'm from Arizona so I have pretty high standards for Mexican food, and this place was ok. I liked the ground beef and the salsa was tasty. The enchilada sauce needs some work - it was kind of sweet and chunky, more like a marinara sauce than an enchilada sauce. The quesadillas had a good amount of cheese but the cheese itself tasted like a white American cheese, not a Mexican cheese or even cheddar. To have a relationship with the staff and the owner and his partner in the business means a lot. All staff are nothing but excellent in my eyes and I bring my family and my clients to this restaurant all the time.
