I don't get sick. I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's my narcissistic "American Psycho"/Patrick…read moreBateman-esque obsession with physical fitness. Perhaps it's my semi-reclusive lifestyle devoid of those harbingers of disease and pestilence known as children. Perhaps it's because I'm the Antichrist*. I seldom worry about my health, but after hearing so many reports of influenza, I decided to bite the bullet (I would have preferred to swallow the bullet and have it explode in my intestines) and confront my irrational, Freudian fear of needles. I would become immunized. This proved challenging, as my local CVS and HEB were out of flu shots. The Walgreens on Tezel had immunizations in stock, so I screwed up my courage and took the plunge. This review pertains only to my experience with the kind, matronly pharmacy manager who administered my immunization. As I rolled up my sleeve, I confessed to my belonephobia in the hope that she would offer a word or two of empathy to quell my anxiety. I forget exactly what she said, but it worked; she administered the injection and it was finally over. She shook my hand and congratulated me on a job well done. I returned the compliment. When the time comes for your next immunization, please consider visiting this location and asking for the woman with a pronounced Nigerian accent. You may not share my fear of sharp pointy objects, but you'll be treated like a human being. A little empathy goes a long way. *I'm not really the Antichrist; the cluster of numbers on my scalp reads "999," not "666."

Then he was the only one that would fill our prescription given the time of day it was. Awesome service Mr. James. Thank you!

I have been using this Walgreen since I moved to Boerne 8 years ago. The staff is always very…read morefriendly and helpful. I have never had any problems that were the staffs' fault. A few times their fax machine hasn't received refills from my doctors offices, both doctors have had this problem with their faxes not going through. I love that the pharmacy is open 24 hours a day, makes it very convenient to go late and avoid lines. Their Balance Rewards program is fantastic! I get alot of prescriptions each month and the points add up quickly. I just redeemed $35 worth of points online and my order was delivered in 2 days. I was able to get some Burt's Bees products that stores no longer carry. Free and delivered to my front door, you can't beat that! If you haven't joined the Rewards program, go for it. It is free and you are basically getting free money each time you fill a prescription or buy certain products. **Added 1/15/14** I recently had photos developed at the store and using their mail order. The prints turned out wonderfully! I prefer the mail order because I like matte photos, plus they are cheaper, but they take a while. So if you are in a hurry and like glossy prints, go with the store. **Added 7/11/14** This addition has nothing to do with this particular Walgreens location, this is about the new system that has been added since Walgreens was sold to a new company. There are a few problems . First, the refill system is completely screwed up, my doctors' offices are not getting the refill requests. I have been having to call my doctors' offices directly to get refills done correctly. Twice now I have had to go through particularly nasty withdrawals for the same medications, two months in a row. My doctor had no idea that I had requested refills, Walgreens supposedly faxed them three times, none were received by the doctor. Second, There is no way to contact the pharmacists at this location, all calls are now answered by a call center. So there is no way to talk to the people that I have been dealing with and that have known me for years. Third, the new phone system takes forever to navigate, what used to take a minute now takes over five minutes. Don't bother calling Walgreens for refills that require doctors' approvals, call the doctors' offices directly, otherwise you might never get the medications.

This Walgreens is under new Management and has made so many positive improvements. The staff is…read morefriendly and attentive and the store clean. If you've had a bad experience in the past give it another try.
