To give you an idea on how crunch my time was, I flew into Buffalo Wednesday evening and drove to Niagara Falls, ON on Thursday to see the venue and to meet up with our wedding photographer for the first time. My wedding photographer gave me two of his trusted contacts and I contacted them immediately that Thursday. I wasn't able to get a hold of anyone but left my contact number. When I haven't heard from anyone Friday morning I started researching for makeup artists nearby. Luckily I found Dollface, and they had great google reviews from previous clients and it was nearby! I looked on their website and was pleasantly surprised to see VERY VERY reasonable prices listed. I hate how a lot of other hair/makeup places never list their prices and forces you to call for pricing. I base my decisions on pictures and other client's reviews, so I don't need to speak with sales people to try to convince to pick them. Planning a wedding is stressful already and I don't like having to make frivolous unnecessary calls when prices could easily be listed. I was up super early at 7am so I didn't call but left a message on their website and was planning on calling when they open. To my surprise, Barbara called me within the hour said she can squeeze me in Saturday morning before her other appointments. Jackpot! I realize that I am very very lucky to book an appointment the day before my wedding. Barbara sent me a confirmation email with detailed instructions on how to get to her salon and pricing details again. Very professional! I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of the day. Saturday morning...THE DAY! My sister and I arrived 15 minutes early and Barbara was ready to go! She was very pleasant and easy to talk to and I didn't feel uncomfortable to voice my likes or dislikes. Being from Asian decent I have tiny eyes and my one big request is that I wanted her to make my eyes big and she delivered! A lot of my Asian friends tend to go to other Asian artist for makeup because unlike Caucasian features, over applying eye shadow and eye liner can actually make the eyes look smaller. Barbara did a fantastic job balancing where the eye shadow needs to be darker and where it needs to be lightened to enhance my eyes. Not to mentioned, she if one of the few artists that I found who uses airbrush makeup! Airbrush makeup is a must have! It lasts ALL DAY LONG! My skin is weird, where in the early morning it is dry but by the afternoon and late evening my T-zone is super oily. With airbrush makeup, all I needed to do was dab away the oil and I'm good to go! Candace the hair stylist arrived an hour later and did my hair. She was very funny and easy to speak to as well. I showed her a photo of what I wanted (loose curls swooped to the side) and she got started right away. Barbara was there and gave her opinion and pointed out loose curl that needed to be pinned up. I felt very grateful that both Candace and Barbara were there to make my vision come true but they also provided their expert opinion on what would look better. I would absolutely recommend Dollface to any other procrastinating bride out there :D

The only greeting she got was "she'll be just a minute" and offered her a bottle of water. They continued to ignore her for 30 minutes during which time another client walked in and was seated and served right away. I had a terrible experience with Lisa Marie from our very first interactions, I received in correct price lists, contracts with errors on it including the spelling of my name. I found her to be scattered and disorganized and her extreme unresponsiveness throughout every single interaction I had with her leading up to the wedding, which made for a very difficult and unprofessional experience. A week before the wedding, after confirming the schedule two weeks prior, Lisa Marie decided to change the start time of the wedding day, requiring me to change my plans and communicate the new information to my guests. On the day of the wedding, she showed up at the wrong address in St. Catharines, when on my contract and during my trial we had talked extensively about the location I would be staying at in Niagara -on - the - Lake. This delay pushed us over 45 minutes behind schedule. I opted for airbrushed foundation on the day of the wedding and my face was streaked with two different colours, I had to immediately wash my face and do my own makeup in a rush due to the delayed time. She did not have any pictures of her own to reference from my trial and my hair looked nothing like we had discussed. She put so much product in my hair that it was weighed down and fell out quite quickly in an over-teased mess. You would think that as a small token to make up for all the stress she caused on the morning of my wedding that she would have extended complimentary eyelashes to me at least, but no, alas she still charged me the $20.00. The value of services received for the money I spent was so disappointing, I regret deeply contracting this vendor.

I had a very poor experience with Lisa who I payed to do my hair and makeup for the trial and wedding. Lisa did a good job on my hair and makeup, however email communication with her was incredibly difficult as it would take her long amounts of time to respond to me and when she did respond, she would not have answered my question. Lisa said that she had an accountant, but the amounts on invoices were always incorrect and I needed to have the invoice corrected multiple times. On my wedding day, Lisa made me cry as she was very rude. My bridesmaids and I had already payed Lisa for additional add-ons like airbrushing, however she gave me a very hard time about hot blow drying my hair the morning of the wedding, and tried to charge me additional costs that were not mentioned before. The two additional hair and makeup artists that Lisa brought with her to the wedding to work on my bridesmaids hair and makeup were lovely, and I wish that this review would not reflect badly upon them. Lisa had been recommended to me by Lorraine Rutledge from Pillar and Post.

I have very fine hair, and have always had a stressful time getting my hair done in the past. The receptionist was on the phone when i arrived, but gave me a warm smile and wave, welcoming me into the space. My stylist was Courtney. She listened to what i wanted, asking questions and explainging ideas with patience and kindness. She started the appointment off with a head and neck massage - which she asked consent for ahead of time. My hair was washed, and i was offered water or a warm beverage. Courtney took her time cutting my hair, noticing how it grows and checking in with me to make aure i was happy with the progression. She offered tips on how to blow dry and style my hair based on the way it grows and sent me on my way with a small sample of product. I absolutely adore my hair.
