Missy has been cutting and coloring my hair since before she opened Salon Ef-fekts' more than 10 years ago. In Salon Ef-fekts' you see all that a hair stylist should be in my opinion - casual, professional & knowledgeable. Missy ensures that not only herself, but any stylist working for her, are trained on the most current of everything. She's also in process of moving many of her products to "green" companies. Missy is someone you can trust to listen to all of your needs, wants and concerns responding with the best and most healthy option for your hair. Your quick to realize that she "knows her stuff", but isn't snooty about it in any way. She'll put you at ease immediately and you'll find yourself looking forward to your next appointment the moment you walk out the door. I've also had Mallory work on my hair - a true protege of Missy. She's a wonderful addition to the salon, and like Missy, is courteous, professional, knowledgeable and a joy to be around. I can't recommend Missy and her Salon enough, and I happily make the short drive from Renton every month. An incredible place to go when you want to 'refresh your good looks' - without breaking your pocket book. 5 stars isn't a high enough rating! read more

After another salon refused to do the Locks of Love cut I scheduled, arranged child care for and drove 50 miles for (because I don't currently have a stylist and will be moving to that area), because she insisted, without asking me what I wanted, that she could not cut off the required 10" and give me a cut I was happy with, Brooke saved the day. She squeezed me in as a walk-in after hearing my story, talked to me about what I wanted, looked at the picture I brought with me, and was super excited to give me a style completely different than anything I've ever had before. She gave me a great haircut, with a fantastic attitude, and is mailing my 11+ inch ponytails to Locks of Love for me. I've had the same stylist for 10 years and was lost when he passed away. I'm so happy to have found someone I can see myself spending the next 10 years with. Thank you Brooke, and Salon Ef-Fekts! read more

I've been going to Salon Ef-fekts since Missy opened the salon in 1995. The styles and products have changed over the years, but they are always top-of-the-line! She has also been cutting and styling my two daughters hair since they were toddlers. They too, love getting pampered by Missy every six weeks. So many people compliment me on my haircuts that I'm sure Missy is kept busy from referrals. Not only does she run on schedule, but is always flexible when changes need to be made. Salon Ef-fekts is also a great supporter of the West Seattle community. She has supported by daughters' school since they started kindergarten nine years ago. I love that a small, woman owned business is active in the community. Whether it is Missy or Mallory providing the service, you can guarantee it will be money well spent and you'll look fabulous. read more

I completely understand Dandelion's frustration with having difficult hair and finding someone who can deal with it. I spent decades trying every salon ONCE and vowing I would never return to each. I have weirdly-wavy hair that completely freaks out in any kind of wind or moisture. The kind that looks great in the morning and a mess by night. Missy is the only one I have ever found who can cut it so it has some sort of control. I've never found her to be oblivious to what I am asking for. She is a total professional and has studied hair at every level for years. I would recommend to anyone who is struggling with difficult hair to try Salon Ef'fekts, and if it is not your up of tea, then move on. I'm a customer for life and I see many others who are also. There's a salon out there for everyone! read more

I have been more than a super happy client of Salon Ef-Fekts for over 15 years and have travelled as far as two hours away to have Missy and Mallory foil and cut my hair. As the styles change, Missy and Mallory work their magic to have my somewhat difficult stubborn wavy hair follow directions! They are very sensitive to age and personality when offering styling ideas, never being forceful and always catering to their clients requests. Missy and Mallory have a natural talent and certainly a passion for their art as stylists and color experts. The end result of my experiences have always been worth at least twice their salon rate. They deserve 10 stars!! (My brother and sister in law are also happy clients.) Thanks for reading! ~Renee' read more

Yelp doesn't do math does it? How does 5 stars plus 2 stars equal an overall two star rating? Maybe it's new math. But I'd like to point out that "Dandelion's" review is an exception to the rule. Every single person I've recommended Missy to has loved her haircuts and respects her talent. Obviously they need to post here to fix Yelp's new math. Missy really doesn't have to advertise much because of her repeat client base. That should speak for itself. I've lived down in San Diego for six months now...and I still fly back up to Seattle to have Missy cut my hair (okay, I go see my kids too, but still!). It's a shaggy mess right now and I'm really looking forward to my appointment on Tuesday! read more

I've been a regular client of Salon Ef-Fekts for the past 3 1/2 years, and am a VERY satisfied customer! I get my hair both cut and colored, and having red hair, I know it's not easy to get the "natural" looking red I desire. I have never been disappointed with any treatment or service I've received from this salon. Missy and her staff are very friendly and professional, and they always listen and are receptive to any questions and input I have about cut or color. Missy endeavors to keep updated on quality hair product lines, and offers them in samples to allow her clients to try them out before purchasing. I recommend this salon very highly. You won't be disappointed! read more

I have been going to Salon Ef-Fekts for more than a year. I have had my hair cut by two different stylists there and been very pleased with their work. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the stylists are always friendly and on time for my appointment. I have naturally curly hair and am sensitive to perfumes that can be in most hair products. Mallory has been great in using minimal product when styling. With each visit, Mallory asks specific questions before she begins the cut to be certain I get the results I want. I have never been disappointed! Julie P. read more

I had been wearing my hair "high and tight" for years and my wife had finally tired of it. I tried a few barbers and it was always hit and miss. A friend of mine suggested Salon Effekts and I have been going there for 5-6 years now. The price is more than I would normally like to pay for a haircut (I'm a dude what can I say). But the cut is always consistant, they are friendly and I never have to tell them how I want my hair cut- they just do it. I am a happy customer and if you are a guy looking for a consistantly good cut I would recommend them. read more

I have been a patron for a few years now. My experience has always been relaxing and there is nothing like a fresh haircut to put pep in your step! Mallory has taken great care of me an helped me decide on colors and styles :) Missy cuts my moms hair and has always taken great care of her. If you are looking for talented and friendly stylists, look no further! The salon is bright and open, the girls are friendly and always helpful it is worth driving from Renton to have my hair styled! Missy has been cutting my hair since I was three years old. I have had nothing but the best cuts and colors from her. She is truly one of the best hairdressers ever. I will continue to have her do my hair as long as she has her salon. One thing I love about her is that she makes sure that you are happy, if for some reason you don't really love your hair she will either change it until you do or refund your money. She is a truly great hairstylist and just wants to make sure her clients are happy and taken care of. read more

I was nervous to try a new salon in a new city as the same friend has been doing my hair for close to 10 years. I made an appointment at Salon Ef-Fekts and couldn't be happier with this choice. Lucky did my hair and she spent so much time just listening to me and repeating back exactly what she thought I wanted before she did anything. She took A LOT of time, doing everything step by step. Not only does she have some amazing hair cuttin' skills but she is also a very kind person who is easy to talk to. read more

I've been going to Salon Ef-Fekts for several years and really enjoy it. The service is great and I always get a good haircut, even though I have thin hair. Both Missy and Mallory are very good at what they do and they ALWAYS take the time to make sure I get what I want. The atmosphere is very friendly and comfortable. Missy has done a great job building her salon and I really enjoy giving my business to a local, small woman-owned business. I highly recommend Salon Ef-Fekts. read more

These girls are amazing and i love their work. They work on me and my fiance and we love how wonderful they are. Brooke and Mallory are soft on Derek's head, which is nice because he's very sensitive. The hair was wonderful when he got his cut! All of the girls are very nice, quick to say hello as soon as i walk in with a wonderful smile and attitude. A few of my friends have also gone to this salon and loved the results of their hair. I'd recommend. read more

My baby fine hair is always a challenge to stylists. Missy has been doing a great job for the last 5+ years. I am 50ish and she always keeps my hair cut from looking dated. I can't say enough about the Mallory's foils either! The two of them formulate a color combo and location of the foils and I always look like my color has been naturally sparkled. Always flattering and never over-the-top! I have never been so happy with a salon in my life! read more

Missy has been cutting my hair for more than 10 years. At the beginning of each appointment, the first thing she wants to know is if I've been satisfied with the last cut and if my hair has been easily manageable. I truly appreciate that she listens to me and hears what I say in reply. It is not unusual for strangers to stop and ask me where I have my hair cut. My monthly visit to Salon Ef-fekts' is always a pleasant experience. Dee read more

Moved to Auburn a year ago and have suffered through poor haircuts for the past 8 months. After reading other reviews, I made the drive to West Seattle and met with Mallory. During our consultation she mentioned several problems that she saw with my hair style and, after listening to what I would like, made great suggestions. Salon Ef-Fekts is well worth the drive (which turns out to be a short 20 minutes). read more

I've been going to Salon Ef-fekts for 10+ years and I can't express how much I adore Missy Wheats skills, talents and professionalism. I have very thick curly/frizzy hair and Missy tames it. She really does an outstanding job coloring/highlighting and cutting hair. Also, she gives the best shampoos and scalp massages. I highly recommend Missy and I'll never stop going to her. read more

I have long think curly hair and love my legnth so I was a little nervous about getting my hair cut even though I was just getting my hair layered. Brooke was very understanding and before making cuts she made sure that i was comfortable with the length. The end result was amazing and I was very satisfied. I recommend Salon Ef-fekts to all my friends. read more
