THE WORST hair salon experience of my life. Rude, incompetent, unprofessional and discriminatory,…read morethis place should be AVOIDED at all costs. I called before showing up to confirm that they handle textured hair. They said that's what we do... However, From the moment I walked in, I was treated like an inconvenience. They had me waiting for over an hour the first time, then complained about "too much textured hair" and forced me to come back a month later with my hair half done -- looking worse than when I arrived. They also blew my hair out too. My hair was curly and shrunk again a few hours after I left. I arrived first thing in the morning on my day off just few minutes late my second appointment, and Kaylee -- unskilled, disrespectful, complains a lot, who handed me over to an apprentice because I have too much hair -- refused to touch my hair, citing my "lateness," even after I explained the road issues and the fact that they didn't seem to value others time the first time around. Kaylee harped AGAIN on how much hair I have. The owner then told me they refuse MY service. Thats when I KNEW this wasn't because of being a few minutes late, it's something else and their micro aggressions spoke volumes about that. Let me be clear: this wasn't a minor annoyance that I paid $450 dollars for the first time for a job half finished, I was treated with blatant disrespect, microaggressions, and racial bias. This salon is a nightmare for anyone with "textured" hair. Rude, careless, unprofessional, and frankly, racist. Do yourself a favor and run, do NOT waste your time or money here.

I picked this place bc it is "health conscious" and their branding made me feel comfortable because of my health issues. I needed my roots done or some way to blend it due to regrowth and no energy to fix it. It is frustrating because I would have been ok with a root melt/smudge/etc. I am pretty open to changing to something manageable during this hard time. I would have been ok with an off scalp application that blends the line with bleach or a semi darker dye. Instead, I was just basically looked at like nope, we only do highlights. No question on why I was in this business or if I was open to other applications than on the scalp bleach. I would have been open to a conversation. It is an unfortunate way of handling things. Since I came to your business on purpose. Instead it seems I was judged instantly and pushed out the door. I don't believe health conscious branding that doesn't care to actually ask why someone is in their specific business before telling them to go down the road. All that said, the interaction wasn't negative. Just unfortunate.

This summer is exceptionally hot, and while I love long hair, it had to go. I was able to get a Saturday morning appointment last minute, scheduling just 3 days prior. When I got there, due to COVID, you call upon arrival, and they will let you in for your appointment. Masks are required, as well as a touch touchless temperature check upon entry. Today, I was greeted by Miss Mora. From opening the door, to the end of my appointment, she was amazing-kind, knowledgeable, comfortable, and good at her job. The salon itself was so cute! Located in the shops at Surfside, it's not too hard to find. They had a modern theme, and the shop was kept nice and clean. The decor was cute, chairs comfy enough, and enough space to relax. They offer hair and nail services, as well as hair removal (i.e. eyebrow waxing). When Mora sat me down, she asked what I was looking to get done today. Unlike most other places, she ACTUALLY LISTENED. I let her know that k wanted to donate at least 12" to Wigs for Kids, so that is where we started. She separated my dry hair with rubber bands, and chopped off ~14" :). Now that the hard part was done, I was ready to relax. She escorted me to the wash station, which had sneeze guards up between chairs. I promise that I almost fell asleep with her scalp massage and the scent of the products. Perfect! When back in the chair, Mora began my real hair cut: about shoulder length, layered, and angled around the face. Once the cutting was complete, blow dry time (again, almost fell asleep). When I tell you that my head feels 10 lbs lighter, and so refreshed, I really mean it! I've included before and after pics. Although they look like I died my hair, the "before" lighting was just off. My hair has never been chemically treated or dyed, and is naturally dark like the after pics. That being said, the shampoo and conditioner she used really brought the natural shine out of my hair. I love it, and Mora did a great job. I would highly recommend her and Red Salon to anyone.
