I LOVE Vanity Thrills. Like the previous reviewer, I was super sad when miss dixiebells closed, but…read moreoverjoyed when I found out that Ariana was doing her own thing. It is such a treat getting my hair done, and makes getting ready for a party so much easier, especially since I got my make up done too. I literally just had to step to my dress and decide which handbag to use. Ariana worked her magic and sculpted my hair into victory rolls (caves not tunnels!) and the intricate work at the back of my hair is beautiful. She is a cool gal and knows her stuff. I like getting all my hair up, as then I can sleep in a head square (not the sexiest look I grant you) but I can eek three days out if my up doo as it is firmly in place with setting lotion / lacquer Kirby grips and hair spray. I had my make up done by Cat (freelance professional make up artist) that Ariana works with regularly. She is super fun and I honestly don't know how she made me look so good. My skin was glowing and my flicks were sharp. I kept doing a double take to see that it was actually me! I was so pleased with it. Thank you ladies for working your magic and getting this girl dolled up for her party.

I was absolutely horrified when I FINALLY had a reason to go vintage and Miss Dixiebelle was long gone, replaced by (I think) a cat cafe or a barber shop. Either way, devastation briefly ensued until I discovered Vanity Thrills, lurking on the side. recently launched after MD's closure, and with barely there premises in Abbeyhill shared with Cutie Cool Nails, I managed to get my hair style set in time for my vintage night out. My sister and I spent a lovely Sunday afternoon with Ariana being primped and I have to say, I actually never believed my hair would ever look that good. Mind, there were a million bobby pins in there, but it was an absolute work of art (that I couldn't for the life of me take a photo of). My sister, turned into my grandmother (looks wise, not age!) with a lovely bob set. Utterly delighted, and Ariana is lovely. Highly recommended, and I can't wait for another reason to go back. At the moment, the website is under construction, but there is an active Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/VanityThrillsVintageHairandBeautyParlour/timeline), so check it out to see the Vintage offerings there. VT does home appointments as well as at the salon, but I suspect the tea and biscuits won't flow quite as plentifully there!

I would like to take the time to thank Amanda for the outstanding job she did yesterday with my…read morebalayage ... I've never received so many compliments on my hair. She was fantastic from the consultation ( recommending olaplex as a pretreatment which is simply the best hair conditioning I have ever had) right through to talking me through products I might like to help maintain my colour going forward) Her knowledge of the davines products that muse sell is unrivalled, she talked me through them but at no point put any pressure on to buy anything she is just passionate about them ... I purchased products because I genuinely wanted too. Muse I should mention had to be hand selected & approved by davines in order to sell their products which they do exclusively ... The whole team are very welcoming ( I was in the salon 3 times, 1 for a free consultation another to get an olaplex and then my final appointment to get my balayage done) my Appointment was at 2.15pm and whilst the salon is open until 6pm on a Wednesday I was the last client of the day for her, they do this to ensure they can give you 100per cent of their focus, she constantly checked my colour & toner progress. I left 20 mins after closing and didn't feel hurried out the door at all! The salon is very modern and everything down to the coffee was faultless. I'm so happy to have found a hair dressers in Edinburgh I can trust. I carefully read reviews on this salon before trying them for myself and I am pleased to report they are clearly genuine reviews so I felt i should leave one of my own ... See you again soon!

I have been coming into Muse Hair for probably about 2 years or so. A friend of mine recommended…read morethis place and I got a discount on the first visit (as part of the recommendation from a friend) so that plus obviously the good hairdressing makes me keep coming back. The owner, Scott, has continued the family business which started in 1960 as a barber shop called Staynley's Hairdresser. The place is now known as Muse Hair. New clients will be asked to fill out a questionnaire which lists your likes, dislikes and general haircare routine etc. The staff in Muse are very friendly. When my hair is shampooed, they tell you what products they are using and you can also buy them here. It was here that I was recommended the Redken Blonde Glam shampoo which I now use regularly. On my recent visit (yesterday) I also saw a notice that if you check in to Muse on Facebook, you can get 10% off any retail products you buy. I usually just go for a haircut and blowdry, but I have also had highlights done here a few times, and always leave as a happy customer.

I've got 99 problems but my hair ain't one of them!…read more Like most ladies, I am slightly obsessed with having good hair. Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. So Angel Hairdressing, I'm sharing the Yelpy love and making sure my 200th review is a good one :-)

For one, it's absurdly close to my flat, which makes visits and appointments a breeze. Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!
