While I was at the funeral, my mind wandered. I calculated how much they were paid and how many hours it would take to do what they were doing. I tried to be generous, but may have not included enough hidden costs. I got around $100/hour. Now, I realise that some capital is used, such as a hearse, and a coffin showroom, and some labor is skilled, but most of the labor (that I saw) was unskilled, like standing and looking solemn. delivering flowers, maintaining a storefront. And I reliased during the funeral that all the calls for reform of this business are probably very appropriate, or that all of their workers are salaried. so, yes, I could provide details and then one person will no longer get spam texts from them (me), but sometimes you get one chance to get it right. I've been in a couple of place where the food was poorly done, and we said it was ok, because we could not interrupt the meeting, both emotionally and because there was not time. Somehow, helping these folks remove me from their spam list seems like that. This message partially brought to you as a work avoidance method, and by another spam text from them. if you need details to remove me, you are using an opt-out method and not an opt-in method.

At end of graveside service, I thanked them profusely for their services. Previously had used Neptune society for my own parents. It was nice to have details taken care of and felt relief at not having to worry about all the little things. However, I felt like a fool the next day when we realized the funeral director had the flowers in his trunk the whole time. He was busy socializing with our family and friends and he forgot to take them out of his car. There were no flowers at the graveside for the service!!! Can't believe we didn't realize at the time. Blaming grief for that. Will get a refund for the flowers but never have gotten an apology from the actual person who made the mistake. I know everyone is human and we all make mistakes but this was his JOB! No apology from that guy is what really ticks me off now tbh. Trying to forgive but can't seem to forget. My heart is still hurting from this. Definitely thinking Neptune society is the better choice for myself and my spouse after dealing with this funeral home.

They offer to help write and send because they get a kick back. They list their name, address, and number multiple times. Needs to be stated once. MOST disturbing about the obit they submit on your behalf is that you will pay for the link to send memories that they KNOW does not work. They blame the PJS, but the links in all other funeral homes listed in the PJS do work. YOU CAN SUBMIT THE OBIT YOURSELF and save a lot of money. Second, the family member we buried had prepaid at least $16,000 for their cost. At the time of the meeting with the staff to make arrangements, they had no paperwork present that the deceased prepaid and the funeral home was planning to charge accordingly. Had another family member not been present at the time the deceased prepaid and insisted they had prepaid only a few years earlier, the family most likely would have never known. It took them over 30 minutes to finally locate the prepaid arrangements. So, while the people are nice, remember anyone can be nice and nice does not equal integrity.
