Are school reviews on Yelp a thing? If not, I enjoy writing so here goes my review. Broken down by categories that matter to myself and many others. Physical campus itself: 9/10. The nature is very well taken care of. The campus is designated as an arboretum, so you will find beautiful and rare plant species here. Easily walkable campus, short distance between buildings. Buildings are maintained pretty well. It's easy to imagine yourself going about your college life on this campus. Professors: 6/10. In my experience, I found some gems that knocked 'it' (class discussions, readings, etc) out of the park. Other than those few gems, an unfortunate amount of professors at SU could take a teaching course or two. Experts in their respective fields, potentially, but could use some touching-up on conveying that expertise to students. You will learn-but expect a decent sum of it to truly be on you (unless you 'dig out' the aforementioned gems to help you along the way). Extracurriculars/activities/involvement: 7/10. SU offers many different clubs for students to attend, from a Star Wars lightsaber club, to a club devoted to promoting sexual wellness, to a club just for education program students. How well these clubs are maintained/organized? It doesn't seem to be too well. They are a great place to make friends and connect with others (and snatch some freebies) for sure, though. SU student-run organizations host many different events, such as movie nights, concerts, comedians, and cultural festivals. These are all fun and run pretty smoothly. In each 'program' (education, business, etc.), there are often events and opportunities to meet with people who work in the respective field. Lots of opportunities to immerse yourself in your discipline once you are past your gen eds. Education itself: 7/10. Perhaps as a result of COVID, I have noticed an uptick in professors relaying much of their assigned work to online platforms (think Canvas quizzes, discussion boards, etc.). In my opinion, putting a large portion of the learning online detracts from the education one pays for. This is, of course, a matter of opinion, but worth noting that much of what a student at SU does for learning is delegated to 'MyClasses' (even if the class meetings ARE completely face to face). Even with the online-heavy coursework, I feel as if SU provides a solid education once you work your way through gen eds and make it to your program. If you think of the gen eds as a 'test' or precursor to being welcomed to a program, they are simply something you must work at and complete. SU's gen eds do just that. You will come out learning a bit about the given subject, but you will learn more about time management, communication, and other skills that must be heightened before entering a program. Other/misc.: Parking at SU is rather difficult. Parking system consists of different pass colors with limited passes and parking spots. Class sizes are growing, too. You do not necessarily need a car, most everything around SU is walking distance. If you must bring your car, be ready for walking to and from lots and leaving very early to snag a spot (if you live off campus and drive). Offices (financial aid, parking, etc.) respond very quickly and are relatively easy to work with. Financial aid is very thorough in answering questions and helping you through loan/scholarship/payment questions. The parking office staff, similar to the physical parking situation, can be a bit tricky. Very limited forgiveness or wiggle room if you mess up a bit. Student health center office has been great. They do not bill insurance. Prices are fair and cheaper than what you might pay as a co-pay, with very thorough and caring nurses and office staff. They are fantastic. Do not attend this school. My daughter and her classmates attended for 4 years. They took our money and in return my daughter received her BSN in nursing. Thier clinical are terrible and you bearly get tge experience needed. Of course nursing is hard and a lot of information. My daughter was happy to graduate only to find out it was rain or shine on the football field. No tents no coverage and it's going to pour. Instructed to put a poncho under her gown. Really for over their cost being over 100,000 in 4 years that's a memorable experience and not a good one. Salisbury doesn't care and will not return our calls. Don't waste your time or money. When my daughter was checking out colleges we stopped here and met with the Field Hockey coach who spent about 45 minutes with us and then gave us a personalized campus tour. Coach Chamberlain is a legend at the school and in Division III field hockey so we were honored to have her spend so much time with us. Unfortunately, the school just wasn't the right fit academically for my daughter. The field hockey team is a powerhouse and my daughter would have seen some super success here, but it just wasn't the right place for her. We've been back numerous times since she started at her chosen school for both field hockey and track, and the campus is great. If you want to be a teacher this is a great school. Pretty campus where most everything is walkable and there is a lot to do off campus as well. read more

So this review is pertaining to admissions department I had a situation with to admissions counselors one being Jeremiah Remo and other with Jenna Payne . They would assume I'm upset about the decision but I am not this is my issue Understand I have been accepted to other schools and this was one of 9 that wasn't my top or on the top at all just applying for back up schools I had a counselor Jeremiah Remo reach out in regards to deciphering my gpa so they can further asses my application I asked in this time may he send me the outcome of my gpa status so I can keep it noted just in case I had to let any other school know even He responded a day or so later with this lengthy message regarding not only the outcome of my gpa but the fact that he finds it hard to say I'll be accepted and also the fact that this isn't a final decision but he was informing about everything that I have to do to help be accepted next time around I called admissions and anonymously asked first the acceptance process and rejection. They informed me acceptance is received by application portal and dashboard and rejection is solely by mail I then tried to discuss the fact that I felt their staff member mishandled this situation and would like to speak to someone who will Inform the counselor that I felt it uncalled for and for them to decide if it's their protocol but I was sadly mistaken when the person to be left to both console me and handle this situation would do the same thing again which is mishandle it I had to debrief the first person I spoke with so they could transfer me appropriately. She sent me to Jenna Payne and what a pain she was . My issue with Jenna was she accepted a debriefing from the previous staff member and already pulled up our emails between me and Jeremiah Remo and she already had judged what she would have to tell me regarding this not only did I not get to completely explain or express my feeling she asked me if basically I felt one way about the situation which partially I did but it was different then that I actually had to hang up on her because she decided that she felt over talked even though the floor was open for me to speak when she asked my feelings regarding this situation and as I opened up she wanted to contradict or insert herself before I finished explain how I felt . This upset me because she was leading with a narrative that I was upset about something practical in their work when this email was supposed to only regard my gpa and he gave me a predetermined decision on his part after assessing my gpa but it's not final that's all I loved the energy he provided to service me before hand but this was a over doing of his job I never asked for special attention to receive heads up on my rejection I would have rather had a set decision I'm no longer interested in this school at all and that's due to Jenna Payne and her attitude it didn't sit well that she only wanted to defend her staff instead of hearing out and being apologetic to the very people they are suppose to be helpful with and guide I would have reached out after being informed by mail but instead I get a hypothesis or hypothetical decision that I can pre prepare for when he also had to note that I won't have a chance till 2022 unless I go take some community college courses even though I have been accepted to 4 schools four scholarships so far based on my honors that I graduated with so I have options if he spoke with me or Called me he could have known that and actually framed his words right based on knowing Info like telling me attend one of the schools I got accepted school then transfer if I want but maybe to someone else this wasn't obscure or out of pocket but for me it was and a turn off to a prospective student Thanks for listening I've written enough and I can elaborate further if any comments This does not speak to the academic value this very well can be and outstanding school Just due to the staff I worked with to start my process that's the given reason why I'm not interested in attending I say if your looking into the school don't let this discourage you just be informed about how the counselor may send you something inappropriately put in words that may raise eyebrows when completing your admission process and I won't say this is a everytime thing just my situation Just mainly know I was gonna attend this school or ata least applied and I don't regret that at all just the way I was informed by this member and completely mortified and upset with the attitude of Jenna Payne can't let that down ‍ Thanks for listening read more

The campus is well laid out and growing. There is a world-class staff and really good community out reach. I came here for their open house. My first impression was that the people are so nice. My family and I felt extremely welcomed by the hosts. The buildings are updated and kept clean. The campus is taken care of nicely, and not trashy looking like I've seen some other campuses look. Our tour guide (Elizabeth) was amazing. She kept us engaged and made me really want to become a student. The surrounding area is nice too, and overall I felt safe and excited to possibly become a future gull. read more

Advising/ counseling is horrible and they don't care about the students - three times just this semester my counselor didn't know what year I was in, gave me incorrect information and guidance regarding my major and minor. They don't care and aren't accountable for providing incorrect information and when I questioned it completely disregard my concerns and do nothing to correct their poor guidance and lack of knowledge about the school and classes students need. Don't answer the phone or respond to email - and can't blame Covid for their lack of knowledge and unresponsive culture in how students are treated. After undergrad here no way I would even consider grad school here. read more

Beautiful campus, small campus with a big school vibe. There's always something to do, you're near the beach and a ton of shops and restaurants. The food is really good but can get repetitive but there's a lot of places to eat around. read more

LOVE THIS SCHOOL!! I graduated from Salisbury University in 2002. During my years there I learned everything I needed to be a successful teacher!!! Now I have the opportunity to mentor student interns that attend Salisbury University! It is wonderful to see the school is just as wonderful as when I attended. read more

I can't believe I'm reviewing a university, but I attended a conference here and it was really pretty good. The campus is beautiful and it's easy to find your way around. The buildings were relatively new (some appeared to be brand new) and very clean. The employees of the university were very helpful to us outsiders. read more

I graduated from Salisbury University during the 1990s. I would not attend again. The university's affordability is a lure for many desiring a college education. The affordability of the tuition comes at a price: the quality of the college and the value of its degree in the workforce. I would tell any young person to find a better option or choose a profession not requiring a degree before attending SU. However, I do recognize that the college is an acceptable choice for those interested in teaching or nursing careers. The university also has a higher percentage of bad people because of its lower admittance standards compared to reputable universities. A reoccurring experience was hearing a fellow student boast about how they deserved to be at a much better university. They would typically tell me how their application to attend a much more expensive and reputable college was accepted, but they couldn't attend for whatever reason. They would then smugly walk away. However, these students were not excelling at SU. This was simply a reoccurring lie. I met too many people like that at the university. I did encounter the occasional dangerous student there too. That may simply occur as a part of life. A connection between encountering these people with low behavioral standards and the quality of the college seemed to exist. SU's school spirit was bad and definitely cast a shadow on my experience during my final semester. There are MANY better options for obtaining a degree that you can be proud of. read more
