Located at the top levels of The One in TST, I wasn't even aware of the name of this shop at first. I just remember there is a place that was rather dim and sells mainly designer appliances and gadgets above the cinema of The One and is not a place that I would normally go. Nonetheless, when it comes to present giving seasons, this shop is always at the top of my list to go to; not least because there is some real originality in the items sold there and would make decent gifts. Thick card boards puzzled together into a stool? Check. Chessboard that is not flat but with creases and dimples? Check. Put it this way, for the items sold here, certain time has to be allowed before you can figure out what exactly the object is; that is what I call design with thoughts. This make the gifts that much more interesting as finding out how the thing actually works become part of the fun. I am most certain that if I am keen on decorating my room or have the say in what to put and how to put, the whole shopping experience would definitely be more engaging; yet the space and the placing of the items make it already enjoyable enough to just walk around and fussing around with the stuffs there.

Homeless has been going at it since 2003 when they had their first store. Two years later, they established their foothold in Hong Kong Island by opening a flagship store in Central. The most significant thing that I found out about furniture stores is the difference of how they make you feel at home. Homeless provides this atmosphere the most, with dim lighting and and a rustic feel. IKEA has it but mostly it feels like you are in a warehouse, while Pricerite is neat and clean that feels prefabricated. Aside from the furniture, my favorite thing about Homeless is the numerous choices of accessories. I have found pen stands, magnets, clothes hangers, and other cool bric-a-brac. The huge catalog that Homeless sells consists of lighting fixtures, various clocks, chairs and tables, art sculptures and kitchenware. They also carry niche furniture brands from Europe and Asia as well as other hard-to-find and obscure brands. I will be moving house late next year and plan to redecorate our flat with lots more of Homeless goodies this time around. I am unsure if this was due to more focused branding. There is a good variety of home goods. My first Daiso experience was in Little Tokyo in LA and I would definitely return. Everything is the same price unless there is a sticker/sign indicating otherwise. I enjoy buying bowls and cooking utensils/ items to change your lifestyle.They have molds for heart shaped sushi rolls, onigiri, and cute bowls and jars. There is a section on grooming/accessories/cleaning/cooking/stationary.... need I go on? It is fun to just peruse the aisles. This particular location is in the basement; we walked around in circles before we were able to locate it. Once you walk inside it is like a wonder of products waiting to be discovered. This chain is basically a 100 YEN store, similar concept to a 99 cents store. However, unlike most 99 cents stores, the product quality is better (with the exception of Dollar tree which does sell some brand name products). Crazy ton of work but once set up the market is quite busy and worth at least a stroll one evening. Another hidden gem are the brick and mortar stores and restaurants behind the night stalls. If it is too high then move on to the next one and the next one. However if they pull you back, then listen to them. Perhaps it's a good deal. It really depends on the particular vendor. Eventually I did an excellent deal. I recommend it going even once. Just follow the people heading that way. Or when you see it, you know you're in the right place.
