This place was a nice surprise! It doesn't seem like much from the outside (and inside too for that matter) but don't let that stop you from trying some excellent food. We stopped in right at opening on a Saturday and the lady who greeted us, I'm assuming the owner, couldn't have been nicer. She was waiting on us and in the kitchen cooking. We ordered spring rolls, bi bim bap with beef and Thai basil with chicken and all were incredibly delicious. The Thai basil chicken is something my wife orders regularly and the depth of flavors in this dish made it one of the best I've ever tried. It was my first time ordering bi bim bap and also thought the flavors were incredible. The portions were huge but I almost managed to finish it because it was so good. Came here for takeout the first couple of times and then for eat-in the second time about a month or two later. The first time, I called in to order the Pad Thai with tofu (no egg) and the vegetable spring rolls before starting my study binge on a Saturday. The Pad Thai was pretty great and so were vegetable egg rolls. Good enough to have them a time or two. Always with about half of the Pad Thai left over for dinner. I ended up coming here the most recent time on a study break amidst a torrential downpour and having the stir fried Malaysian flat noodles with tofu and a level-1 spicy, per the suggestion of the waiter, and the vegetable egg rolls. After a short wait, the vegetable spring rolls came out piping hot. There were as delicious as they were the first time and as usual I wanted a few more. Before I could lament the half empty plate, my entree arrived--piping hot and with a wonderful aroma. I dug in and was pleasantly surprised by the wonderfully unique flavors dancing on my tase buds. Like nothing like I'd ever had before and quite frankly indescribable. (Guess you'll have to try it for yourself). I absolutely loved it. The portion was nice and hefty and I was able to eat some for the next two days and it was great reheated as was that other spring roll. This place is truly a gem and a GREAT first Malaysian dish experience. They are definitely worth a try and the owner personally makes sure each and every dish is perfect. Just tried to order my favorite dish, General Tso Chicken. Asked for all white meat. They said, they can't do that. Asked for Lomein noodle instead of rice. They said, they can't do that. You may not think to stop at a generic looking asian restaurant next to a naughty video store and between a bunch of car dealerships, but you should stop at Sakura...immediately. I've got friends in Greenville who drive to Raleigh for good Asian food, but Sakura is as good, or better, and far less expensive. They have korean, thai, japanese, and probably other types of dishes. I had the kimchee noodle soup with pork (side note, Sakura makes its own kimchee). It came out as a heaping, steaming bowl of deliciousness that was nice and spicy - at only 3 on a scale of 1 to 5 (no watered down for NC palate spice levels here!). I only finished half the bowl, but that half went a long way towards curing my nasty cold. Everyone was staring and even the waiter told her that it was unnecessary because he had already explained it to me. My friend (who was visiting) and I were so shocked that we asked for the food to go. The crazy lady started being extremely nice and ended up putting chili peppers on the side of my dish anyways so I'm not sure why she had a fit. Sadly, this wasn't even the first time. I have to beg the proprietess to make my Pad Thai "not spicy" or else it comes out flaming hot inedible.
