Hands down, this is our favorite hibachi spot in Monroe! They've recently reopened the interior for dine-in, but we typically call our order in and pick it up through the drive thru! If you order double meat, you can add both broccoli and mushrooms to your order instead of one or the other. We typically ask them to not include the sweet carrots, but some people love them. Portion size are great. I typically get two meals from my double meat order. My fav is the Double Hibachi Steak with broccoli & mushrooms. It's served over fried rice with a side of yum yum (shrimp) sauce. My hubby gets double teriyaki chicken with broccoli. That's also served over fried rice. And he typically asks for teriyaki sauce instead of yum yum. You won't be disappointed! read more

Decline in taste with cheep frozen chicken with very little preparation of food. This was once my family's favorite restaurant! I am unbelievably disappointed in the food the last five visits. I predict it closing soon. Thay have lost my support. read more

I try to do the order ahead. Their steak, chicken, and shrimp, is amazing. Even better when you combine all. Also there are carrots that will melt in your mouth. I live in Lawrenceville, but am willing to make the drive to Monroe for their food!!! I have never been disappointed!!! read more

Was in the Monroe area doing sales visits trying to expand our service into this area. Was getting hangry and craving some Japanese food. Found this place saw some bad reviews and was iffy at first but decided to give it a try and sooo glad I did!! I got the teriyaki steak with all the veggies and it was soooo good. I'm sitting in the parking lot deciding if I want another serving because it was so delicious! Sweet carrots were amazing and food was perfectly cooked and hot and fresh! Also great price and quick service. Shrimp sauce is better than the shrimp sauce at my usual hibachi spot and 1/2 the prices ! I sure hope we get a lot more business in Monroe because I'm dying to be out this way as much as possible for some great Japanese food! Not authentic food at all, cheap quick worse than kroger warm sushi. Windows are closed, making it really dark and grimy and the service is subpar at best. If your ok with Americanized sushi and asian food you'll be fine here i guess, but if ur looking for anything half decent this place is not it. read more

We decided on this place for a coworker's birthday lunch. I have eaten there MANY times before. As I was enjoying my food I was totally grossed out by the sight of a strand of hair. I pulled it and out comes the small clump that was attached to it! YUCK!!!!!! I called and was told by the "manager" to bring the food back (in this Covid environment) but it's ok because I paid hard-earned money for it. I live 35-40 minutes away and realized after work that the food was in the back seat floor. Got to work this morning in Monroe to realize I left the food in the garage fridge! I called the restaurant and explain to the manager what happened and was told that 1) I must bring the food back (fine), 2) I will not be refunded my bill total but only for the 1 plate that contained the hair, 3) "all of our employees wear hair nets", and 4) she will be happy to give me a new order. Ummm no thanks. They lost this customer and everyone else who knows about the experience. Highly disappointed. read more

The food here is pretty good. You do get what you pay for though. It is fast-food "Hibachi." You do have to wait for your food, since they cook it when you order, so the food is always hot. Some people may not like the sweet carrots, as it seems like an odd item to have with fried rice, and whatever meat and vegetables you get. The pink sauce is good, and when mixed together with your meal, it has a very unique taste, which I like. I always get the chicken with broccoli along with the sweet carrots. I have never really had "bad" food from this restaurant, but again, this is nothing like the hibachi one would get from a Japanese restaurant. My only real complaint is that they never have any egg rolls ready, which take about 15 minutes to make if you order them. I like the food here. It is something different and unique. I eat here from time-to-time. I would recommend at least trying it. read more

Not sure what the other reviewers are thinking, this place is horrible. After a well below acceptable first experience, I actually went backing thinking there is no way it would be the same. I was right, it was worse. The shrimp used in my rice dish were salad shrimp, my rice was hard and the veggies were soggy. Don't waste your time!!! read more

It's drive thru Hibachi-style food. If nothing else, it's unique. The carrots are almost candied, the yum-yum sauce is both copious and fantastic, and you can eat a great lunch here for less than $6.50. Don't judge the quality of the food by the appearance of the building! read more

Sake Express is the only Japanese restaurant that actually has great shrimp sauce.My favorite meal from the place is the vegetable plate.Which contains zucchini,onions,carrots,broccoli,mushrooms,and sweet carrots.I also enjoyed their egg rolls which were really crispy and delicious.I would recommend coming here if you enjoy eating Japanese or hibachi food. read more

This place is dirty and smells like a soured mop. Tables were dirty with dishes piled on them and no one was there in the lobby, very disappointing. The 2 couples in front of me left when the owners daughter ( 11 years old ) started her temper tantrum over taco bell and stared yelling at everyone in the front of the store waiting to order because we were all were watching her be a brat and stunned at behavior and foul mouth. The cashier rolled her eyes and said softly "it happens all the time". I asked her if she was learning disabled,the cashier said no just a brat. I left prompt at that point. I would not recommend this place and would avoid it at all cost. read more

Sake Express beats any of the local dine-in hibachi restaurants in taste by a mile. They have the best seafood sauce by far!
