If this town is good enough for Brigitte Bardot, it is good enough for me. Festive, international, a touch of bohemian, with colorful old buildings, narrow cobbled streets and a delightful outdoor market! Of course, there are the billionaire yachts, but they sit in a tiny very old little harbor, which makes the ambiance quaint and peculiar, not at all too posh. Food here is cheap for Americans. And delicious. Try to stay away from the touristy pizza and burger places and eat in authentic French places. Cannot wait to return to Saint Tropez! Who knows ... I might spot the French movie star and all her doggies out and about. read more

THIEVES EVERYWHERE! Beware! There are professional teams that are skilled and you will very likely be robbed. By the time you figure it out they will be on to their next victim. My husbands backpack was expertly unzipped and his wallet, sunglasses, iPhone were all taken, while it was ON his back walking around. He was with myself and another person and we did not notice. He did not feel a thing and he is the type that is always telling others to watch out. When you do get robbed, the "police" will tell you to go make a complaint. This process was as ridicules as the those who worked in the office. While the computer crashed and the report had to be re-done, all taking 3 hours, 8 different people/ groups came in to report the EXACT SAME THING! Entire suite cases disappeared, bags under strollers containing passports-car keys - EVERYTHING , open purses picked through. ALL GONE! It was an utter mess! You'll need to do the report to try to get anything back with your credit card (AMEX has a good program) but be prepared to deal with clowns. They have an excellent camera system on SOME streets, but not all and we believe that the thieves are very aware of this and who knows, maybe an inside job? Don't go with anything valuable and keep it in a hidden wallet on your person under your shirt like a proper tourist. But really, it's not much to write home about. I wish I'd never gone. read more

St. Tropez was a small fishing village made famous by Ms. Brigitte Bardot. I have visited St. Tropez twice during the summer. The first time was exciting and fun except for the robberies that occurred in several rented houses. The second summer I came back it was as if St. Tropez was turning into Paris; i.e. very snobbish (No offense). The service and food had also rapidly declined in taste and class. Save your money and head on over to Italy or Spain, (imho). The mosquitos are not bad in the outer lying neighborhoods but if you stay at a hotel closer to town you better have your bug spray handy. If you are looking to flash your cash and fashion then this is the perfect place for you. The beaches are preferable for swimming more nearer to July and August. In June you can catch some great shopping deals if designer is what you are after. The Louis Vuitton store in St Tropez has custom "St Tropez" logo bags that are available usually around the end of June. Not a bad place to check out once but not one that I would consider a great repeat destination. read more
