Saint Patrick's is a beautiful building and well worth a visit. I loved spending time reading about the history of the artifacts housed within the cathedral. There is also a lovely park outside the Cathedral that offers great views of the building. read more

An amazing building. Beautiful craftsmanship to be seen inside. Rich in history to explore inside as well. Definitely would recommend one check it out when in Dublin. I don't mind paying the entrance fee, but right after the paying booth at the entrance is a dropbox that is saying all donations are welcome, which is cheeky at best. Cheeky is not an adjective a church should take pride in. read more

Note: This is a review of the bathroom facilities at St. Patrick's Cathedral, alone. I dare not review the cathedral, itself, for fear of justifiable retaliation by God. So, sometimes people drink when they're in Ireland, and sometimes, when you drink a lot the night before, you find you might feel a need to stay close to bathrooms the next day. While out and about in Dublin, sight-seeing, I found myself with an urgent need to find a bathroom facility, and the closest one around that appeared to be open was the public restroom at St. Patrick's Cathedral, so reluctantly, I used it. I was pleasantly surprised that such an historic location had perfectly functional bathroom facilities! They were clean, and cozy, where by cozy, I mean they were obviously originally built for Leprechauns. Now, I'm not a leprechaun, so the toilet seat was a little low for me, and the stall door touched my knees while I did my business, but, really, that's my fault. I could easily have shortened myself years prior by eating less protein, so I have only myself to blame for my unnatural height. If one is above 5' in height, and claustrophobic, one might want to find another men's room, but if you're flexible or short, you should find these perfectly serviceable. read more

It has to be one of the spots you visit if you are in Dublin. There is a fee to visit, which is a little sad because if you did want to come and worship it should be free to do so. Personally, it should be ore like donation type of thing, just like when you pass the offering plate. It's really quite beautiful inside. There's just so much history here, and all the details can be quite overwhelming. It was humbling to see one of the priests/cardinals in the area by the pulpit cleaning items and such. It's crazy to think that people still go to this church now for all the time that it has existed. read more

Lovely grounds - great place to wander around on a sunny break in the rain - so many parents bring their toddlers to play that I felt like a fairy-tale giant. I have to admit I balked at paying the entrance fee and so I was satisfied for the time being by walking the grounds and around the block, just to appreciate the exterior. When I got home to write my Yelp review, I read some of the other reviews and now regret not paying the 5.50 Euros to get a look around inside...Just an FYI for folks who might actually be researching in advance! read more

We had intended to visit this on our first full day in Dublin, but we had had such a full morning that we wound up touring the Guinness Storehouse instead. After another full day, we decided to at last pay this place a visit. And what an awesome building it is - certainly a lot of quality history and architecture to look at. One probably needs a guide in order to fully digest all of the material, otherwise you're competing with the crowds, not necessarily understanding the context. Speaking of which, my wife went to the toilet during our visit, and I found myself being approached by one of the guards. As I was wearing a San Francisco Giants t-shirt, she asked if I were from that area. Upon hearing my affirmative reply, she went into a long-winded story about how her brother had a daughter who had subsequently moved to Marin County. And this person is apparently well-known. Was I able to retrieve a name so I could follow-up? No, I did not - as it's a family secret, such useful information can not be transferred to such proletariat as myself. In other words, I gave the story absolutely zero credibility. Eventually another person asked this lady when she was going to start her tour, otherwise we'd might still be there. read more

Beautiful place, although it seemed odd seeing the gift shop situated more or less out in the open in the back of the Cathedral. Be prepared to shell over about 8 Euro to see this place. The grounds are well kept and clean and you can roam through the church at your own leisure. You can also take pictures inside which you can't do at most cathedrals. They give you a little pamphlet that highlights the things to see inside but they also have other guides available to purchase. In my opinion, this is a definite "must see" in Dublin. read more

For the grand total of 8 euros you are free to roam around St Patrick's Cathedral... and it is well worth it. Architecturally, the building is beautiful - if a little haunting. The grounds are very well kept, and you will want to take many photos. The great thing is that unlike a lot of religious buildings, you can take photos inside the cathedral here. You please do not forget your camera - you will regret it! Similar to a lot of cathedral tours you will be given a leaflet when you enter, highlighting things that you might not know or may otherwise have missed. This really helps especially as you roam around the cathedral without a guide. The trip can take as long as you want so as soon as you are bored, you can leave - one perk of having no guide to upset!! I really enjoyed this tour though children may find it a little boring. read more

This was not a welcoming church...It was raining and a storm so we went to seek shelter in there for a while, maybe a few minutes. We weren't even blocking the door and they kicked us out and no one was coming out! They also "robbed" our money from our wallets because you have to pay €8=$10 just to get in the church. I mean when someone says church I think of a welcoming society for the needy, not a place to collect money and get more people to come. So in my opinion, please DON'T COME HERE! Maybe it was just the people? I don't know but still, why can't it be free entry, where you can pray and be happy??? read more

who can resist visiting the place where Handel's Messiah was first performed? It doesn't seem real that something so amazing can have happened here, right on our doorstep. This church was also the seat of the author of Gulliver's Travels - Dean Jonathan Swift, and you can now visit his tombstone there. St. Patrick's is a beautiful place - lovely mellowed stones, wonderfully crooked tombstones in meadowy grass outside, high vaulted ceilings and interesting flag-stones. It's set in lovely landscaped grounds, with a peaceful open aspect. Visiting this Cathedral is always happy and peaceful. read more

The church is beautiful and worthy of a visit, I'm just not sure I agree with charging to visit it. I understand if they want to charge for a guide to accompany you but this is for a self-led tour without much more given than a cheap pamphlet that one can pick up at a hotel lobby. If the glass windows weren't breathtaking and the artifacts awe-inspiring with their history, I would give it less stars. read more

We loved visiting St. Patrick's Cathedral, especially on St. Paddy's day! It is a beautiful Cathedral, the biggest in Ireland with a rich history. I highly recommend doing one of the tours. They run free tours every once in a while with volunteer guides. Ours was Godfrey and he was excellent! This gives you more insight into the history behind the church and some behind the scenes aspects. Bathrooms are very tiny, so don't go in with a full bladder. They have free guided tours! Go on the website to check out the times. I would highly recommend this! Our tour guide was really nice and knowledgeable. The tour lasted about 40 min. It's €6.50 for adults or €5.50 for students to get in. There is also a beautiful park attached! read more

I visited here while on a study abroad trip with my class. I had heard of the Cathedral before but stories and pictures do not do justice on the beauty of this place. I would highly recommend visiting this place to anybody. It is a gorgeous place. read more

Even though I did not have a chance to visit inside the cathedral, you can even see from the outside how grand of a landmark St Patrick's Cathedral is. In addition, the outside lawn area is a nice place to take a stroll and relax. read more

The fee was $5.50 euro and worth it. The church is beautiful. Stained glass windows, old books and battle colors from some of the Irish units that fought in WW1 and WW2. They also had stone tablets/monuments that had been unearthed from building sites that were dated as far back as the seventh or eighth century. It is walkable from Dame St., around the corner from Dublin Castle. If not it's on the bus routes. read more

Beautiful, massive cathedral with gorgeous stained glass windows and the most adorable little pews. There is also an expansive green lawn outside the church where you can relax and soak up the sun. This should definitely be a stop on your Dublin tour. read more

This cathedral has beautiful stained glass, but is obviously very crowded all of the time. It's really cool to walk around and look at everything though. I didn't really care for the gift shop though because the line tends to get really long to the point where it gets in the way of walking around at the church.
