Either I'm crazy or people in this area don't know what an authentic Argentinian steak should taste like (it's a pretty touristy area, so maybe). Look, the ambiance is nice being on the canal, the waiter was a nice kid who wanted us to have a good time, but the food was decidedly not what I expected from an Argentine restaurant. The steak and empanadas were the only things we got that really struck me as trying to be Argentinian, but neither were great. There was also no chimichurri sauce included, and when we asked for some, what we got was definitely not chimichurri sauce.

Argentinian steakhouse in Amsterdam done really well! Who would have thought that?…read more The meats are super tender, super fresh, and super delicious. The soup and sausages I had as a side are also very good. One thing I can appreciate is that the staff knows what they are talking about. Take their suggestions and never look back, even if the bill gets up there in price. You will thank me later.

I will start with this...we only stopped in for one drink and a tiramasu. It was near closing, but…read morethey welcomed us into the place. I ordered a Jack and water. I watched the guy pull the Jack bottle from the shelf and pour the drink. One jigger. 3/4 full. If you're gonna use a jigger and charge me full price, pour to the top. But I digress. That wasn't the issue. I am a whiskey/bourbon drinker. I know my whiskeys, bourbons and the family. This was ABSOULTELY scotch. In Amsterdam, the Jack, the Jim Beam, Makers, and Bullet are far more expensive because they are imported. This was definitely scotch in a Jack bottle. No Doubt. none. Zero. My wife's drink was also a less than full jigger. So we paid full price for two terrible drinks and a Tiramasu that was once frozen but had been defrosted. Snarky service, bad drinks, supermarket dessert. I'm not a complainer, and I didn't complain. Perhaps I should have. But overall, if you check out my Yelp profile, I love to praise service, food and ambiance, but this place sucked away my will to live. Avoid it.

Honestly he had us at hello after smelling and seeing the dishes being served to other guests. My bf and I started with the grilled calamari and tomato salad. The calamari was tender and melted in your mouth like butter. The tomatoes were fresh and tasty. I had the lamb chops and my bf had the ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection. The chimichurri was the best I ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The ambiance here was unexpected but a pleasant surprise. Yes, we knew we were in a touristy spot…read morebut we were ready to eat and had already been turned away by a couple places we wanted to try because, even though we know better, we had not made reservations anywhere. Seriously, does nobody just decide they are going somewhere? With live music being played with a guitar and some drums...it really helped set the scene. A special was 50 Euro for 2 people and you get two appetizers (Carpaccio or Shrimp), two entrees (Steak or Fish) and an entire bottle of wine (you pick red or white). The apps were very good (we had one of each), the steak was good, and the wine was also good. The value was great and really couldn't be beat. The service was very nice as well. We sat close to the kitchen and watched everything just go smoothly. The chef seemed to like what he was doing and the servers seemed happy as well. That may seem like a little thing, but it really adds to the experience. I can't say we will seek out this restaurant again, but if you are in the area and need a spot to eat, this is pretty decent!
