Pier At Harwich - Salad with mustard vinaigrette and fried onions. Garlic and oil fresh olives. Both were fantastic.

Just a note, no ac however that's standard in most Europe and England hotels. Their restaurant on the first floor is fantastic. Had managed all three meals over the course of days. Photos are some of the great options they offered. Their chef and waitstaff was great during my stay. Very accommodating for allowing me motorcycle parking as well close by. They also have a private parking area for their hotel.

Sunday lunch at the Pier was the perfect counterpoint to a weekend of railway couchettes and ferry chips. The menu, a reassuringly short one with a fixed price in the 25-30 pound range for 3 courses, had a great selection of locally-inspired seafood dishes with a sprinkling of meatier offerings. I had the dressed crab to start, beautifully presented but resonant of childhood seaside holidays in its simplicity. For main I chose a Venison and Hare pie cooked with a wonderfully rich Madeira gravy. Other members of my family enjoyed a range of fish dishes including skate, plaice and cod. One of the high points, though, was my desert - a bramley apple and apricot fool served with two deep fried apricot and almond doughnut fingers. It had a fine balance of the sharpness of the fruit with the sweetness of the pastries and the creamy richness of the fool. Very nice. The building itself has been very nicely renovated and is one of the better examples of the trend in British gastro-pub design towards natural wood floors, plain painted walls and simple, modern furniture. Table linen and elegant but simple glass and china reinforce its status as a fine restaurant rather than just a pub with pretensions. The decor also incorporates some nice reflections on Harwich's storied nautical past with classic ferry advertisements and modern nautically-themed original artworks. All in all, a very pleasant spot for a family Sunday lunch.

I always go into a new restaurant with a sense of trepidation as I'm one that likes a certain establishment and will always go back the same can be said with Bombay night!! From the minute you walk through the door to the free Bombay mix and being promptly seated at the table that had been booked even though we go there early the cobra was served with an effective and fast service where it was chilled at the right temperature to being served in the correct glasses but I digress from the main reason I'm writing this review and that is the food. Firstly the popadoms which where crisp but fluffy and had the perfect sides of chutneys the naan was just the right size and not too filling and provided a great a compliment to the rice and curry. The pilau rice was was nice and different to some that I have had at a curry house in other times where as usually I leave some of the rice I found myself wanting to eat it all. With the main curry it's self I went for the chicken vindaloo which again where you go it depends on the spice where as some you get it's just fire where as this vindaloo was easy on the palet the spice was perfectly balanced so that as well as heat you could taste the different spices. The chicken was balanced out with the potato so that one was not more than the other most usually the potato over the chicken the chicken itself was beautifully marinated and tender to cut into not dry on the inside but soft on the out because of the sauce. Include complimentary baileys and ice cream as well as the orange slices and mints lead to what I can truly say was a memorable dining experience and most definitely one of the most succulent currys I have had and believe me I have had a few in my time I can truly say i would happily go back to Bombay night the next time I am in Felixstowe.

The food is great and some of chefs specials are particularly good. For groups there is a set menu in which you get a lot per person which is great value and to top it off there is a liqueur or spirit which is always nice. Although its not quite as big as the Blue Naan, this is a great place to celebrate and the friendly staff are always helpful and chatty. The only down side to Bombay Nite is its location as it is on the outskirts of Felixstowe. This is great if you live nearer but for others it means a drive. Overall I would recommend Bombay Nite, even more so if you are celebrating something.
