The ambiance is nice and cozy with plenty of indoor & outdoor seating. They can also accommodate large groups. We were lucky to be seated inside without a reservation for dinner. Definitely go early for a better chance of being seated without a reservation (before 6pm). For vegetarians we ordered two pasta dishes and a rosemary focaccia bread. The butter ravioli was heavy and I didn't care for the filling. The taglioni Al tartufo (pasta with truffle) was a bit better. The focaccia is extremely thin and crispy. I expected actual bread infused with rosemary. Panns cotta was okay for dessert. The service is extremely slow... we waited a very long time to order and then pay. Kinda funny since they had a steady flow of people coming in but didn't seem bothered we were sitting there for that long. They have restrooms and Wi-Fi too. Overall, just an okay Italian place and pricer than more other restaurants we ate at in Berlin. A good last minute option for marathon runners wanting to carb load. read more

I did have my 28th birthday dinner here, so even with that bias, I don't know, this place didn't wow me. The table bread was indeed very good, warm and crusty, and we ate inordinate amounts of olive oil to wash it down. Great ambiance is what Sagrantino has going for it, and there's good people watching with the big windows and the porch out front. Service is spotty, but it gives you plenty of time to chat. I liked my pork tenderloin with truffled potatoes, but my dining mates had a pretty sad looking salmon dish, and the pasta here was kinda floppy...and wet? read more

For whatever reason, I had tons of Italian food while I was in Berlin for 9 days. This place didn't impress me very much. I will say that the ambiance is wonderful; the restaurant is super cozy, and I sat near a window and had a great view for people-watching. But the staff didn't seem very excited when they seated me (I was alone) and I had to flag people over anytime I needed anything (I'm American, though, so I think my expectations might be a bit different - I'll admit to that). The menu was MUCH more limited than I expected it to be, and the food wasn't as good as I'd hoped. The bread was delicious, although they only gave me two slices. I had a special, I believe it was duck gnocchi or something along those lines, and the gnocchi and duck were both well-cooked. However, the texture of the gnocchi wasn't as good as other gnocchi I've had. And the flavor of the sauce really wasn't up my alley. It had an interesting aftertaste that I didn't enjoy. The portion was much smaller than I'd expect for the amount of money I paid and compared to other Italian restaurants in the area. Not bad, but definitely not the best I've ever had. read more

We were desperately looking for somewhere nice for supper (well ok, we never actually set out to find somewhere horrid.) It was cold and everywhere we tried seemed to be way too formal, full, or a bit seedy. We stumbled upon this place and peaked inside. It was warm, cosy, welcoming and everyone spoke Italian, which was useful (beuacuse my Italian is a thousand times better than my German). We got a table and were soon pouring over the lovely wine list and ordering lots of little bites to go with it. We both also had pasta, which was delicious and shared the delectable tiramisu. We stopped in without a reservation and they were very accommodating. As another reviewer mentioned they speak Italian and that helped us since our German is very limited. I sat next a window to the kitchen and saw all the dishes being prepared it was fun! The bar and wait staff went out of their way to understand what we asked for and the food was fantastic. I swung by this quaint Italian spot just off Friedriechstrasse on a cold Wednesday night for a bite, and found it bustling and very inviting. The decor andambiance are very inviting, glowingly romantic, and equal parts weeknight comfortable. It is a great setting for a casual dinner date or an evening out with the family. Unfortunately, setting only goes the distance in coffee and cocktails, but this is an Italian resturaunt. The menu was a little pricey, but not crazy for the neighborhood. The antipasti were large, and flavorful. I wish I could say the same about the Primi and Secondi; my Lasagna tradicionalle was mostly mushy and not very filling. The Tiramisu, the Italian litmus test, showed handcrafted care, but again tasted as if it had sat for awhile; mushy, but sweet. Additional sad faces: the wine by the glass was light on the poor (so get the bottle as there a several good and inexpensive wines on the menu and you can carry out); they only accept Maestro Card??!! so bring Euro; eat all the bread you can...as the portions for 3 courses left me wanting. Smilie faces: great ambiance with a warm glow; the service was OUTSTANDING to include everyone speaking Italian, Germen and English. Go for some wine, antipasti, conversation and ambiance, but skip the dinner. read more

We passed by this place last December, the place looked so authentic and the food smelt great. So we expected the food to reflect that. The salad was good. The service was a bit slow which allows you to enjoy your company. Once the main course finally arrived, we were extremely disappointed. We were 3 persons and we had 3 different dishes and all of them were really really bad, the truffle pasta was soggy and tasted like the salt shaker had fallen inside. The chicken allimone was just bad, it is the only place that had bad chicken in Berlin. We went to McDonalds after leaving this place. read more

Can't recommend. It's in a great location, one block from Unter den Linden, but that's the best thing about it. The menu is limited and not creative. Both food and wine are overpriced and mediocre. I had the asparagus ravioli, but could not see nor taste any asparagus. And you won't know it until the bill comes, but they don't take credit cards. So unless you're carrying a large pile of euros, you've got a problem. Next time I'll try one of the other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood which are better reviewed both here and on TripAdvisor. Update: We discovered Bocca di Bacco the next night. Went there with a date. Classy/romantic atmosphere. Kind staff speaking Italian, English and German fluently. Good Italian food (quality over quantity), my carpaccio with truffles was amazing. Large wine selection, we accepted the waiter's suggestion and took a Sagrantino red wine. Great service and presentation. Location couldn't be better. This small traditional Italian restaurant certainly has the look down, it's a romantic and rustic setting on an otherwise barren mitte street. But sadly that's where the charm ends. Very overpriced and mediocre food, rather disappointing after what I've come to expect from Berlin. The pasta portion was laughable, six bite sized and overcooked raviolis for 14 euros. At least the wine was decent. Serving staff was friendly but not so talented (forgot orders, yawned a lot). All in all not a place I will visit again seeing as how there are much better alternatives, even in Mitte. read more

This is an utterly charming, authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Berlin. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy, the wine list is full of interesting choices, the servers and staff are actually Italian and the food is sublime. The carpaccio con truffe was perfect, the cheese plate was fantastic and my pasta (orcchiette with Italian sausage ragout ) was perfectly prepared. To finish, I had the gelato with brandy soaked cherries and a latte macchiato. I think I actually floated out of there on a cloud of pure happiness. This is a must if you're in the area! read more

We were recommended to go here from the hotel we were staying at. The ambiance and food were great, it was the service that was about 0 stars. It's a cute small neighborhood place and maybe they didn't take kindly to tourists. We ordered a round of vodka tonics to start and the cocktail was mostly tonic. They reluctantly brought us bread with no bread plates. We had to pour our own wine and water, no one came over when they saw us pouring it ourselves. The waitress came over about 3 times over the hour and a half we were there. When we went to order a bottle of wine that was around of 80€ we were told that they were out of that wine, but they had a comparable bottle that was not on the menu that they would give to us for the same price. They said if we didn't like it, we could get another bottle instead. We agreed and tried the wine and it was fine. When we looked up the bottle of wine/vintage online, it was selling for about 16€. When the bill came and we asked to confirm that this bottle of wine was comparable to the one we were going to order and her response was only that we agreed to the price. We only agreed under the assumption that the bottle was the same value, not to scammed into paying over 5x the retail value. Overall, I would not recommend, especially if you are a tourist. read more

Went there for dinner after a visit at Komische Oper. My main was well cooked and tasted not too bad: tagliolini al tartufo. I had a nice glas of Sauvignon with it, it was served at a good temperature. Staff was not overly friendly but OK. Atmosphere was not too bad either.
